Chapter 1

Prologue

Prologue

“Dad, I have a lot of things to do. Where are you bringing us?” Otis Flynn, my brother, asked.

We are on our way to the place where I don't know. Honestly, we don't have any idea where the hell Dad is taking us. He just picked us up from our condominiums, telling us that he has to bring us with him.

“You're too impatient, Otis.” My father beside me commented.

I remained silent beside him and chose to stare outside the window. My brother's trait of being impatient was passed by my mother. She hates waiting the most.

“Is this a new mission? You could have just given me the details,” he looked at him from the passenger seat.

“And what? One of you will mess it up because you trust yourselves so much? Heck, no.” He let out a sarcastic chuckle, shaking his head.

“I never failed a mission, you know that well, Dad.”

I knew that he was mocking me. It was me who once failed a mission that my father gave me. Otis smirked arrogantly, shaking his head. Even without glancing at me, I knew that he was already thinking that I am nothing compared to him.

Otis and I grew up in a competition. We grew up proving ourselves to Dad. The worst is we grew up in a world that ordinary people don't know, the Mafia world.

The world for heartless, brutal, and merciless people.

At the age of 7, Otis and I killed someone. We were taught how to fight and how to hold all kinds of things to defend ourselves. As for Otis, he mastered the dagger, while me, I am a good shooter.

One shot, one kill. Bull's eye.

In the Mafia world, they call me “The King of Guns” and they call Otis “The King of Daggers”. We are known for that. Those are the titles that we created in this bloody world.

“Why don't you ask Oliver?” His eyes shifted at me and he gave me that annoying smile.

I clenched my hand, but I had to suppress my rage towards him. We are brothers, but we never treated each other as one. Otis treated me as his biggest enemy, and I treated him the same.

“That's enough. We're here,” I breathed heavily to ease myself. I wouldn't want to lose my temper because Otis will surely die if I do.

“Funeral?” Otis asked, complaining from his tone of voice already.

“Complaining is really your forte, don't you, Otis?” Now, I'm the one who wore that arrogant smile before I came out of the car, leaving him furious inside.

Another fact about Otis, he gets mad easily.

In loving memory of Alora Sanchez.

I tilted my head as I stared at the woman in the big tarpaulin outside.

“Sanchez, aren't they one of the weakest clans? Don't tell me we're here to collaborate with them? They won't benefit us, Dad.” I shook my head out of pity.

Soon enough, they will be erased in this world. No Sanchez will be left in this clan anymore. Poor clan.

“Watch, Oliver.” He tapped my arm before he led the way inside.

“You don't know about them?” Otis muttered while we were walking behind our father.

“They might be weak, but I heard their daughter is still lifting their clan,” he added.

“A weak clan cannot survive the biggest clans who will soon attack them,” that's what always happens. If I were them, I would just give up. Whoever their daughter is, she's just wasting time. She would be dead soon. These huge clans will eat them alive.

Otis whistled. “We'll see about that,” he said before he left me behind.

I threw my cold gaze at his back. What am I even expecting from this bastard?

I roamed my eyes inside as we sat at the back. I saw familiar faces who probably came from big and powerful clans like us. Are they here to sympathize with them or to plot their plan to kill all of them?

Tsk. Assassins and gangsters. They are all greedy for power.

“My mother taught me to be resilient. When I cry, she doesn't show any pity to me, only to make me strong and brave.”

A woman standing in front of the altar, wearing a black sleeveless dress, showing off his porcelain skin, caught my attention entirely. From the back, I could see how beautiful she was. Her brown hair was straight and long, reaching under her chest. Her eyes were almond shaped, and they were captivating. I found those eyes dangerous to stare with, I feel like one stare at me and she would make me weak.

She has a droopy nose and pink downward turned lips, which would surely seduce every man effortlessly. She's tall like a model, and her body is curvy.

I found myself wearing a small smirk. Her beauty is enticing.

“Now that she's gone, I hope that I made he—”

My lips parted when a gunshot filled the entire place. Everything happened so fast, but I witnessed how the woman in front simply raised the microphone where the bullet ended. I saw an evil smirk beside her lips. None of us reacted, as if all of us were expecting that.

That moment, I realized one thing. They are not here to sympathize with them, they are here to observe the woman in front.

“Really? At the funeral of my mother?” She asked bitterly in the microphone.

“Who did that?” Otis asked my father.

“Just watch,” my Dad replied.

I simply looked around to find the one behind it, but I didn't see anyone who could do it.

I stared back at the woman and I caught her scanning each of us inside until her eyes landed in the middle, on the other side of us. There was a man, holding a gun with his shaking hand.

“Dumbass, he doesn't know how to shoot.” I heard Otis comment.

I watched everything keenly and waited for what the woman would do.

“I’m sure my mother is proud of me, especially today…” in one snap, I witnessed how the man who tried to kill her fell on the ground with a dagger pierced right on the middle of his forehead.

Bull's eye.

My jaw dropped in amusement and surprise before I went back eyeing the woman.

“Let's get out,” my father quickly stood up. I didn't want to leave, but I knew why my father asked us to leave already.

“ADIRA!” I heard a man called the woman as he threw a gun to her before the entire place was showered with bullets and daggers around.

The battle began.

“Who was that? Why did you bring us here?” Otis immediately asked as soon as we came back inside the car and left. I couldn't even take my eyes off the woman earlier.

“That woman is Adira Dawn Sanchez, the heiress of Sanchez’ clan. She's the only one who's trying to lift their clan,” Dad explained.

Adira. Even her name is beautiful and strong.

“She's tough,” I commented.

“Exactly. Why do you think their clan is not yet vanishing in our world?” He drew an amused smirk beside his lips.

“Because that woman is something, she's different. Adira doesn't step back, she's too brave and fierce and she doesn't fear anyone. A lot of clans tried to erase the Sanchez, but Adira was always blocking their way. Before they could even succeed, Adira always finds out their plan and it turns out that she was only playing with them before she killed everyone they sent,”

I wouldn't deny the fact that Adira captured my interest. I feel like I want to get to know her more.

“Why are you introducing her to us? Don't tell me you want one of us to marry her?” Otis chuckled. “She's beautiful, I like her. But I'm not into marriage yet, Da—”

“You're gonna kill her,”

I glanced at my father swiftly when he said that.

“I want the both of you to kill her and erase their clan. If there is a clan who must make them vanish, that must be us, the Oliveros.”

“But Dad,” he crossed my gaze at him.

“Erase them in the Mafia world and I shall pass everything to one of you,” I clenched my jaw when he brought that up.

“Prove me that you deserve to lead the Oliveros clan, that's your next mission.”

I am going to kill the woman that captivated me.

Chapter 1
Chapter 1 Adira’s POV “ADIRA!” Ace threw the gun towards me as the chaos began at the funeral of my mother. Since all the visitors are assassins and part of the Mafia world, I didn't hear any of them scream because of fear from all the gunshot that began to fill the entire place. I saw people leaving—those are the clans who didn't want to be involved. But then, it doesn't mean that I can trust them. I know why they came here. It is not to mourn with us, that would be hypocritical. They are here to watch and observe me, studying how I move so they could attack me soon. I shot all the gangsters and assassins right in front of the altar. I didn't bother to move anymore because I could simply kill them without doing much effort. I watched the dagger pass in front of my face, before I shifted my eyes to my left and saw a woman who threw that to me. Vanessa Delfin, the heiress of their clan. I saw how annoyance ran through her round eyes. This woman has been eyeing me and I knew tha

Chapter 2Oliver’s POV “She graduated as Summa Cum Laude with the course of Business Management,” a smirk quickly drew beside my lips when I heard that information. Business Management, huh? That's the usual course of all the assassins and gangsters in this world. Well, mostly, the heirs and heiress. Probably, it is to prepare them in handling the business of their clans. But hell, she was the Summa Cum Laude. That is hard to achieve. “Where did she study?” The more I got to know about her, the more she piqued my interest. “Harvard,” my lips parted with amusement. “She's really something,” I muttered. “Their business is furniture. They are designing and making one. But right now, it's not in good condition either,” Jaylor’s face crumpled when he mentioned that. This damn man is my second hand. I could trust him more than trusting Otis—who is my brother. “She’s handling that now. Also, she's a good shooter—like you, she's also good at using daggers and swords. She does boxing,

Chapter 3Adira’s POV “What if I hire you as my personal bodyguard?” I asked, trying to make a great deal with Louis right here. His brows arched before he quickly shook his head, declining my offer without even giving it a thought. I rolled my eyes at him and lost my hope. “I'm the head of you people, Ms. Sanchez. Besides, your father won't agree, you know that well.” My face crumpled as I frowned. “I just can't trust anyone,” yeah, I have trust issues now and they cannot blame me for that. My father was betrayed and as a result, our clan is at its lowest point. Second, there have been a lot of spies lingering around us. It would be hard for me to hire someone and trust him. What if he is just acting up until he gets my trust and then, viola, he would eventually attack as, too. “Adira, we will make sure that whoever you will hire is qualified and trustworthy. I got you,” he winked at me as if he was telling me that I can trust whoever he will find for me. “Hey, the applicants

Chapter 4I was taking huge steps as I marched out of there. I headed to the kitchen, grabbed a bottle of water and drank it at once as if I hadn't drunk water for a week. “Woah, are you upset?” Ace asked when I crumpled the bottle while chasing my breathing. “How can't she? That guy defeated her. Take note, he's an ordinary guy and yet she lose ove hi—”“I can also cut your tongue, Louis.” He lost all his words when I threw my gaze at him, giving him my deadly eyes. “Chill. Maybe he's just really good. Besides, that's a good thing. You want a stronger bodyguard, right?” Whatever Ace tells me to make me feel better, I just can't accept the fact that I lost over that guy. My pride is fucking shrinking! “Tell me about him,” now, he captured my interest towards him. “Well, his name is Chase Montereal. He's the same age as you and he worked as a Manager of a restaurant before. That's all I gathered,” Louis said as he simply shrugged. “What? He doesn't have any background in fighting

Chapter 5“The Coraldes are behind it. I'm sure of it,” Ace said while we were in a meeting. I was only staring at the presentation in front, sitting calmly on my swivel chair, while we were discussing and planning the things that will help us to go back on our own feet.“We have a budget to cover the damages of the company,” Louis added. A small smirk drew beside my lips. I quickly shook my head, disagreeing about that. “We're not going to pay for it,” I said firmly. Now, all their eyes were glued at me. “What are you planning?” Ace knows me very well. He didn't have to ask what I exactly mean as he knows that I have a different plan. “The Coraldes will pay for it. Three million is enough,” my brows raised as I glanced at the pictures of our company. It was a total mess and damaged when the attack happened. “Idiots,” I muttered. “They really thought that I was there?” I chuckled unbelievably. “They want your head. What do you expect? Of course they will do everything to kill

Chapter 6
Chapter 6“Fix it. When I come back, I want it done as if nothing happened.” I said clearly to Ace. He's the one helping me in handling our business. “Got it,” he winked, before getting the money we got from the Coraldes. “Fuck, the blood stinks.” Louis commented, disgusted to me. I rolled my eyes at him before I glanced at Chase outside, washing his hand. “He did his job very well,” Louis commented when he noticed that I was looking at him.“He didn't,” I replied. “I told him not to protect me.”Louis chuckled. “Are you crazy? He's your bodyguard, in case you forget.” “And I am his boss. He does what I say,” I said and turned my back from him. I grabbed the alcohol and the first aid kit before I headed towards his direction. He was washing his hands while his face remained blank. Is he fucking numb? How can't he feel any pain?“Adi—”“FUCK!” He exclaimed in surprise, when I poured the alcohol on his hand. Now, I finally saw pain from his face unlike earlier. “At least I know t

Chapter 7“It is included in the rule that they cannot kill someone, unless it is their opponent in the battle.” Ace read aloud the rules that are attached to the invitation that I received. “I won't die, Ace.” I simply replied, sounding bored and not even worried. Why would I get worried? I know that I can defeat whoever would be my opponent. “Adira, we still have choices to raise your clan. Let's not take this risk and put your life on the edge,” I quickly chuckled when Louis said that. It was like a joke to me. “Are you serious? Since the day we were born in this kind of life, our lives are already on the edge of death,” I shook my head to the two of them. They both turned silent as they knew that I was telling the truth. “How about your father? He won't allow you,” Louis is still pushing me not to go.“That's right. I'm sure Dad won't agree with this,” Ace added. They are both trying to convince me not to go.“He doesn't have to know,” I replied. “He's out of this. This is my

Chapter 8“OUCH! WHAT THE HELL?!” Ace creamed deafeningly after I kicked his stomach. I was covered with sweat under the rays of the sun from above, chasing my breath. We are in the garden, doing training. I have to work myself out with the upcoming Mask Battle. “I am your brother!” He exclaimed again, still lying down on the ground, with his hand placed on his stomach. His face was crumpled, greeting his teeth simultaneously. “I got carried away,” I replied as I grabbed the bottled water on the table. I sat there for a while and hid from the sun. “Really? Look at Nathan,” Louis commented and showed me Nathan's face. I bit my lower lip and shrugged. “I was sure that my fist landed gently.” “It surely didn't,” Nathan uttered. “I have to train myself harder. As you said, that battle is not easy. Whoever would be my opponent, I have to win no matter what if I still want to live.” That battle should never be my death. “I give up. I don't want to be your punching bag for your prep

Chapter 9For a moment, I felt like I was dying when I forgot how to breathe. My eyes were pinned on Chase who was half-naked in front of me. The water was still dripping down from his soaked hair, down to his well-built body. We have a huge space between us, but I could smell his manly and addictive scent, fresh from the bath. To be honest, he looks so clean and fresh. I don't know if it is because he is still soaked from taking a shower, the reason why his entire body was sparkling in my eyes, or he is naturally like this. “U-Uhm…” I crumpled my hands when I stuttered. All my words vanished and I could not find any to tell him. I could not imagine what I look like right now; I regret barging in. “The training…we should start now,” I quickly looked away from him. When I did, I felt like I suddenly remembered how to breathe properly. I bit my lower lip in secrecy while I could feel my chest throbbing.“Oh, yeah. I was just preparing. Do you want to wait here? I will just dress up
