<Xavier POV>
---------------Curiosity gets the best of me. I came back from the club late at night and went to the gym early in the morning. Today was the day I had been waiting for.I was excited to meet the King's leader. I heard a lot about her. How she doubled the King's power overnight.As instructed I reached the spot on time. Surprisingly King's headquarters were not underground, or some shady place that makes you puke. Nothing you could imagine of a dangerous mob gang trend. It was a quite elite-looking mansion, surrounded by the forest as far as one could see.Nobody could set foot inside this place until they had ordered. The whole mansion was packed with tight security, both high-tech and physical. For the exact location, I wasn't sure either. They blindfolded me before throwing me in the car.They didn't remove my blindfolds until we reached the first check post. I was cramped in the car's back seat between two bulky guys.We got through the big metal gates which were guarded by black-dressed guards and the latest camera monitoring our every movement.The driver nodded towards one of the guards who hopped out of the cabin to walk towards the door and placed his fingers on the fingerprint panel attached to it. The doors cracked open to reveal the well-built residence surrounded by the wild beauty of nature.Once inside our little journey ended. A car came to a halt and we stepped out. Another guard came into view. He took my cell phone and said I will get it back after the visit.We stepped inside the mansion. I stood in the middle, surrounded by the three bodyguards with me."Wait here," Outside of a spacious room one of my guards instructed. He took the initiative to knock on the door before opening it and sliding in through the crack.While waiting I rolled my gaze around, we were in a long hallway. Some old paintings were hanging on the white and grey colored walls."Let him in" A voice called before that guard exited and gestured to me to go in.I looked at my so-called protectors who didn't move to follow me, stood like statues, loyal dogs, Huh.I grinned at one of them whom I fought earlier before whirled to walk into the room that turned out to be an office.A man named Kyle, who came to visit me at the club that day was sitting behind the big fat ass glass desk. Today he was dressed in a white shirt and black denim."We meet again, Xavier right?” I nodded, “Good to see, you made the right decision."'Right thing? Only if you know.'I chuckled, “I'm quite sure what I want.""Huh. I like your attitude. Come on, let's see if you have a real fire or just talk." He left his seat and walked out, I followed.He left the first floor on which his office was and climbed the third floor. All the mansion was highly secured, with no chance of getting attacked by rivals.Footsteps boomed in the empty hallway as we were closing the distance to a room, I assumed he was taking me to their leader. We both halted on our trail when our ears picked up a sound. Kyle's first instance was to take out his pistol.Carefully he approached the room which I guessed was the office.Doors weren't locked at all, we entered inside. My assumption proved right, it was an office. The sound was getting loud with each step we took yet the entire space was empty. No one was there. Strange.I noticed that the dim light filling the office room was coming from the crack behind the curtains. Something was behind it."What's there?" I asked Kyle.He didn't answer and hooked his gun back in his pants. He rushed towards the hidden door or crack, whatever it was, "Don't enter this room! Stay where you are." He ordered before vanishing behind the curtains.I got curious, too bad. I inched closer to the hidden passage. Kyle's voice could be heard over the sound of banging. I stopped at the door frame. I didn't enter the room as he instructed."Reb! Open the door! Reb?" He was banging his fist on the door. Sounds from inside stopped completely before the door opened.Coming out was a girl, who looked to be in her early twenties. Long hair, tall, fair skin, and burning fire in her gaze.Who could she be?She stepped aside from the door. Kyle sucked in a breath looking at the sight inside. The floor was glittering with pieces of broken glass and blood.Did she cause such destruction?I let my eyes trail her body. I bet she was doing the same. My eyes dropped to her bruised hands. Blood was dripping from her hands. She clenched her fist tightly to stop the blood flow only to bolster it."Kyle, in my office," I smirked when she walked past me whilst ordering Kyle.Judging from the power and authority raking through her voice which made Kyle follow her without a word, she is the one I have been looking for. A person who operates the most dangerous gang in New York City. Evil Mafia Queen. Rebel King.Though it came out as a surprise, I was expecting a badass woman who knows how to rule over men's dominating world. Indeed life is full of surprises.Back in the office, She gave me a little task which I passed with flying colors and got the job instantly. Honestly speaking, for the starting seconds I didn't catch her intentions yet thanks to my sharp reflex I forged the bullet with an inch."..........take this new lad with you." Here we go, I got my first assignment by the famous mafia queen.I was sure of one thing, this was going to be fun...After settling the Italian business, I was free to get back into my usual life. Yet not that normal. Only a bunch of people knew about my second life. Thanks to Evan, I could get the taste of mundane life without worrying about getting a bullet in my head. Apart from managing dangerous stuff, I lived the life of a 19 years old teenager, studying architecture and chilling out with friends in the evening. After collecting reports for a week and assigning new tasks, I called Kyle to handle from here: I’m going back home. Home? The King Mansion. The only place where I felt at ease. Yes, you heard me right. There was another King Mansion owned by the King family. This was the place where I bought first by Evan after he found me on the roadside. Evan was in the mafia business for so long and knew of the risk involved in it. Not just for the person getting his hands dirty, but also for his loved ones and family. To ensure his family’s safety, Evan planned a car accident tha
--------------------What was an epic fate, meeting two well-named gangs in one day? And the fun fact was, I got the job of delivering the dead body of one of the mighty ones by the order of another one. I should have posted it on social media. I bet it would hit a million likes. The person sitting in front of me in the van was another Romano. Brown hair, grey eyes, and fit built what an eighteen years old kid could have but the nerves of this guy, glaring at us as if ready to burn each one of us alive the moment we set him free. The Romano Family ruled the New York black market over the decades. Italians were the most powerful gang before Kings came into existence. Both gangs were known for their hatred for each other. They have been thirsty for each other’s blood for decades. Shit hit the fan when Evan kidnapped Johnson’s daughter (father of Ryker Romano and previous leader of Italians). Eventually, Evan King and Angelina Romano fell in love and married against the Ro
I hopped off the yacht and stared at Mr. Karim, the head of the security services, made a silent gesture to leave me alone. Before pulling out my phone from my coat’s pocket and pretending to not pay attention to him. Mom sent him with me to ensure I didn’t run away like hell I could. I knew the consequences I would have to bear if I dared to disrespect her words and did something rash. And believe me, mom turned scary, not a sight you want to witness.“Forgive me, Miss, I received orders to guard you until you enter the college building. And you are not allowed to use your mobile phone either.” Mr. Karim stated in his perfectly professional voice, which irked me off. I gritted my teeth angrily yet nodded curtly while handing my cell to him, no matter how much I wanted to run off, but I knew better. With this man as my bodyguard, it was safer to do as told, at least for now, because Mr. Karim had a sickness of endless loyalty towards his boss.Mr. Karim moved ahead to open
As we reached the terrace, I shut the door behind me and took a moment to catch my breath.Damn Lisa and her muggers!I never understood why they couldn’t just focus on the task their parents were paying for: studying.Why not just live and let others live?This was the first time I interfered in college bullies' affairs. It wasn’t like it didn’t affect me seeing Lisa and her gang bully innocent people now and then. I just didn’t want to get involved and attract unnecessary attention, especially since my mother made it clear from day one that she didn’t want our family in the headlines.That was precisely why, despite our wealth, the King family avoided socializing. Angelina King despised us for having a social media profile, even.It may sound crazy, yet it didn’t feel weird at all. It was a small cost to live a normal life, so be it.“Are you… Alright?” I raised my head to look at the source of the voice.I was quite struck by the most alluring brown eyes I had ever seen
*Xavier's POV*Giving Romano a ride home didn't turn out as I had speculated.I had to admit, the Queen knew her strategy very well. She had planned every step meticulously.She eliminated the elder Romano while sparing the younger ones. She knew how to instill terror among the populace—a calculated move.Standing in Romano's compound, not a single person dared to raise their head, even though their guns were loaded.She broke the Italians' resolve. They had no choice but to retreat and heed what Riker said as the Mafia Queen's envoy.That's the game they play. No wonder she rose to prominence so swiftly. She understood the game and played it with thoughtfulness.Two days had passed since that incident. The external world seemed unchanged, but madness filled the King's headquarters' interior.With the Queen missing for two days, I expected slow days ahead. Yet, her second-in-command managed her affairs quite well in her absence.They involved me in their illicit activities but didn't
*Rebel POV*As soon as the ferry dropped us at our location, Ryan and his friends ran off to the venue, leaving me behind.Ungrateful little monsters. They had gotten what they wanted, so they didn’t need me anymore. To be honest, I would have liked to go back to my room and sleep for days. I hadn’t gotten a wink of sleep for almost a week. Every time I closed my eyes, shadows of nightmares came crawling back to torment me.This time, they were more intense than ever, yet none of them made any sense. All vague images, like pieces of broken glass impossible to reassemble. However, it wasn’t just the little girl this time but also a little boy with her. His face was blurry, so I couldn’t tell if I even recognized him, but I felt as if I had some kind of connection to them. On a deeper level.It frustrated me not to remember the connection.My head throbbed, and my eyes begged to shut. A music contest was the last place I wanted to be.But Ryan seemed happy.Swallowing my complaints, I f
*Rebel POV*Xavier was light on his feet, moving freely around the boxing ring as if taking a stroll in the park, not facing Vincent—the second-best fighter we had after Kyle.He was getting under Vincent’s skin, and it seemed to be working. Vincent was strong, but patience was never his strong suit.After months of leaving the business under Kyle's supervision, I was finally back to take charge again.Angelina hadn’t been thrilled, but as promised, I’d stayed back until my first-term exams were over, and she had honored our agreement.Today was one of the days I actually looked forward to: rank promotions through boxing matches.It was a Kings tradition.Evan had started it to make sure his gang members had a fair chance to prove their skills and to keep them sharp and actively participating.Vincent went for it, swinging his fist at Xavier's face, but before he could even graze a hair on Xavier’s head, Xavier slipped and threw an uppercut, knocking Vincent out cold.The crowd that h
Ryan's POV“Let’s play Call of Duty tonight,” I suggested, walking down the busy hallways of my college with my friends.I liked spending time with them; with my friends, I felt less lonely. When I first moved to this island with my family from New York, I thought I’d never be able to make new friends. It was hard enough the first time back in high school.Even before my dad died, my mom had always been so protective of me. She always made it her life's purpose to keep an eye on me every moment, one or two guards always followed me around, scaring the others away. Hence no one at school wanted to talk to me since they knew very well what kind of business my dad was into. Life was painfully boring for me. I was never allowed to wander outside the house alone and play like normal kids.I barely managed to make a friend back there, and that was only because Andy thought mafia families were “dope.”I never understood why I had to be surrounded by guns and bodyguards all the time. I hated
*Rebel POV*“Is this all the men we have?” I glanced at the two boats filled with all the guards Karim brought with him after I called him to inform Ryan's location and my plan to get him free.“I'm afraid so.” Karim signed disappointedly. He is aware how risky this is going to be.“They are not enough but this is all we got, so this has to work.” There's not enough time for me to call for help from New York.The island they were keeping Ryan on was surrounded by water from all sides. Reaching there without getting detected was a bit of a challenge; the other option was to surround the island by a larger number and attack before they even get a chance to attack us.However both conditions were not in our favour so we decided to wait until nightfall before starting the rescue operation.And the information I obtained from Drake was another plus point.***We sail the boats in the dark to use the night with the no moon as our companion.Call it pure luck on our side or negligence on the
*Rebel POV*The doors weren’t locked. I made my way inside what appeared to be a cottage abandoned by its owner over half a century ago, or so I guessed. All the windows were secured with wooden planks and nails, ensuring not a single beam of sunlight could sneak through.The interior had become a perfect sanctuary for bats clinging to the ceiling, glaring at me and making angry noises, probably protesting my intrusion.I scanned the area, half-expecting some imposing figure to step out of the shadows and reveal themselves, especially considering the challenging words they had used in their message. But nothing happened. I was left disappointed."You still have time to get on your knees and beg for mercy. I might let you off with a slap on the wrist—if I feel generous," I said mockingly.Still nothing.I began to wonder if someone had given me the wrong address just to mess with me.Suddenly, a blinding light flashed in my face. I flinched at the harsh brightness and blinked rapidly t
Rebel's POVIt wasn't until our flight landed that Xavier considered asking about the sudden change in the plan.I understood—it was unexpected for him, just as it was for me.One moment, I was in a meeting I didn't even want to attend but was starting to enjoy, seeing Zion pissed off and Belkov with his hands full. Quite an entertainment.But it didn’t take long for things to turn to hell, starting with a text on my phone from an unknown number.Normally, I don’t entertain texts or calls from unknown sources, but since I was beginning to get bored, I opened it.What struck me immediately was the picture attached to the message—my little brother Ryan, unconscious. It made my blood boil.I looked across the table at the people seated opposite me, narrowing my gaze as I tried to figure out who among them might have a death wish. It couldn’t be a coincidence; the timing of Ryan’s kidnapping and this meeting aligned too perfectly.I shouldn’t have been surprised. These people live to dig
*Rebel POV*Kyle flew to Japan to ensure the production of new goods was up to standard. When it came to quality, Evan never compromised, and neither did I.I had planned to go personally, but Kyle suggested it wasn’t necessary, especially with the annual meeting with rival gangs around the corner. My presence was needed here, so Kyle had to be the one to handle things in Japan.He didn’t seem too happy about leaving me behind, particularly after I had been attacked twice since returning. He was convinced it was the work of rival gangs and had since tightened security around headquarters.Not that I hadn’t beaten the life out of those low-level goons. I told him he was worrying too much, but nothing could sway him when it came to doing his job.And that’s how I found myself stuck with the one person I would love to avoid.Xavier.I didn’t know what magic he worked on Kyle. Kyle never recommended anyone. But this time, he specifically requested that I allow Xavier to take charge of my
