*Xavier POV*

My task was to follow Rebel and handle her security. That was the task Kyle alloted me but he forgot that I'm bound to follow his orders but she follows no one's.

It's impossible to make that woman listen. In the last twelve hours I had failed to do my task many times.

Even now she wanted me to take care of her little brother, I didn't know she had until this morning, meanwhile she went to take a walk in enemy territory.

I wanted to deny her orders but I didn't because in the last twelve hours I had seen a different Rebel than the world known of.

For the first time under my watch she was not the ice queen, cold and merciless but a sister who loves her brother more than anything. She has a family like a normal person.

The part of her life she keeps hidden behind her mask of coldness.

I saw tears in her eyes when she reunited with her brother.

I am no fool to not see how she didn't trust me as much as she does to Kyle and the old man named Mr. Karim we met on the island. I can totally understand why. In the business she is, trust is a commodity hard to earn and once ruined it could never be earned back.

Yet she was willing to give me the task of her brother's safety.

And she is a powerful woman, capable of making the entire Mafia drop to their knees under one night. She didn't need me to protect her.

However my heart didn't agree with me. I wanted to go right after her and make sure she was not doing anything stupid, like putting her life in the mouth of danger to punish the ones behind hurting Ryan.

The boy was silent all the way, looking behind her every minute, checking if her sister followed us as she promised or not.

Mix of fear and disappointment was evident in his face but the boy knew how to hold onto it, nothing like his sister.

I had thousands of questions I wanted to ask him or anyone who was willing to answer. Only this was not the time for that.

As unimaginable as it was to invade the base with the handful of tropes we had, we succeed. The numbers were lesser than what we were informed about. It didn't sit well with me, something was missing and I had a hunch I would find Rebel in the middle of it.

Mr Karim saw us when we reached the range of where our boats were by the shore. He came running towards us to check on the boy.

He looked relieved seeing him back in the single piece. I handed the boy to him and asked him to look after him while I have to make a trip back.

He didn't ask anything about where I was heading to or for whatever reason, he just nodded silently and took the boy to the boat.

I turned to walk away when a hand holding my wrist stopped me.

I looked down to see into the glassy eyes of the boy. “Get her back.” He whispered softly and let go off me before walking away with Mr. Karim.

“I will.” I let him know my intentions before moving in the direction I just came from.

The island was vast and unexplored Rebel didn't mention anything before going on wondering on her own.

Good thing I came prepared for this. I put a tracking device in her pocket cunningly without her noticing when we went to that abandoned cottage.

I opened the app on my phone. It shows her location on the west side of the island.

Following the location I reached the cave that looked like a home to many ancient creatures.

Following the device I kept walking ahead. Inside the cave was smelling rancid, I won't be surprised to find rotten corpses of dinosaur or other Extinction creatures remains. It was painful to breathe in.

Small streams of the water leading into the caves, making its perfect spots for the animals to take shelter or drug dealers to hide from the cops.

The torchlight was not enough to lead the way through this thick darkness cloaking over this place but that was all I had.

Over that this place was like a fucking maze to get through. I thought I would never get out of here. Thankfully the tracker was a big help.

Although the amount of time it took me to navigate through these caves. By the time I found Rebel it was too late.

Coming out of the darkness I was not expecting to step into the inferno.

And the person behind it did not seem to care about the destruction and she left it behind.

She was no longer the worried sister looking for her brother but the woman everyone was scared of.

The ice queen. Standing on the corpse of her enemies without an ounce of emotion on her face.

Her clothes were soaked in blood, I couldn't tell it was hers or others. Those she looked bothered with it, beating the shit out of a corpse, not caring the blood oozing out of the deep cuts on her arms.

Madness took over her senses. She wouldn't hold back for anyone.

*Rebel POV*

Excitement rushed through my veins, I could feel the electricity cracking in the air surrounding me.

With each step further I took my emotions magnifying. My mind enters a state different from my usual state of mind.

I'm no rays of sunshine like other girls I have seen of my age but in front of the evil working in my head right at the moment my usual self would be nothing less than an angel.

My steps were no more careful like earlier as I walked past the security line, to get closer to the boat immediately catching all the attention on me.

In a matter of seconds I found myself surrounded by men pointing their guns at me.

They recognised me.

--- “No matter how fast you run, you can't hide from your destiny because destiny has its way of finding you.” --- A tiny figure was running in the darkness of the alleyway. A fourteen-year-old girl, huffing, struggling to get enough oxygen for her lungs to function smoothly. Her tiny frame was trembling like a leaf, cheeks stained with tears. She was holding a shiny object in her shaky hands close to her chest, as if her life depended on it. The girl was none other than I, Rachael Santiago, the daughter of Raphael and Vanessa Santiago. My parents were council members of a secret society of supernaturals, Synx, and the owners of Santiago groups of companies. Supernatural, gifted, or part-human, you name it. In short, humans carry magic in their lineage. We could do stuff other people can only dream of or either pulled in movies. Every member of the special families, or as we called clans, has different and unique gifts of their own. We carried our gift from birth. We could feel

I should have known that nobody would dare to step against the Kings. I cried out with frustration and threw my phone into the wall facing me to let the useless gadget crash into pieces. --------------------- After killing Italian’s leader, Ryker Romano. I marched straight to my office, located on the 2nd floor. This floor contained my office and suite. It was Evan’s before. He loathed the idea of someone going through his stuff and gang’s details. I opened the spare door to my suite and hopped into the second door inside my room, which turned out to be the bathroom. Turning on the water, the white glass sink turned red. I washed my bloodied hands and face. I glared at my reflection in the mirror. I flinched when the face looking back from the mirror was not mine but a girl with pale skin, dark brown hair, and grey emotionless eyes. I didn’t know this girl, but I saw her running in a dark alley in my dreams so many times that I lost count. I never recognized her, but the shiny thing in her hands was something I remembered. I could tell she was running from someone to save her life. I shut my eyes and tried to escape from this horrible nightmare, but
