Chapter 3. the big save

Angela decayed the amenity, affirming that, they only have each other, and, they did not have anything heavy that needed someone else to help them. she insisted she could manage on her own, the only thing she needed from them was the list of errands she was expected to do.

Their self-effacement was amicable.

Owino told her, that it’s a passive house and no one is treated as a servant, she already knows what is expected out of her, he told her that he expects nothing but the best from her, as he bid his daughter goodbye.

As expected, they had to behave as a loving couple, he moved closer to his wife held his hand and walked out, just before they took the next step.

Amanda noticed an envelope lying under the table, with her soft respectable voice she called out on them, “ma’am and sir, please hold on,’’

her mother irately gazed at her as she held her hand tight groaning at her to make her keep quiet.

oh no!, she was going to get us in trouble. Angela scoffed with worry

Angela apologized for her daughter’s character and told them to go ahead, but Amanda was resolute to talk to them. she fraught her way out as she gave them the envelop.

“I’m sorry.” she apologized for rescheduling them.

Being a positive kid and an open-minded person. she told them she felt the need to give them the envelope her instincts told her to-do so, and her mother thought her to have confidence in herself.

“Please keep quiet,” Angela interrupted her.

With a gratitude face; Owino and Melina looked amazed, they took the envelope and left, they were already getting late, they didn’t have the time to thank her.

Mercy called Amanda in her room and thanked her for saving her parents, she told her that the envelop contained a very imperative contract from the investors which was declared lost after along search of three weeks. She proceeded in telling her that her parents were going to lose a lot of cash if the investors would have left. She was very grateful for her.

With her humble nature, it was not a big deal for Amanda, she bowed down with respect and left the room.

Mercy was left speculating with her appeal, ‘she is of my age but cared less with play nor chatting with me. I’m I smelly? as she got a whiff of her armpit.

Amanda yearned to be in her company, but her status could not allow her. She left her room and slammed herself at the door, as she sniffed Mercy’s chambers scent, she puffed in loudly and huffed, she fantasized of herself in a comfortable bed like that of Mercy.

While they were driving, each one was pre occupied with their own matters, Melina fraught to get the envelop, finally she broke the hush.

she told Owino that the coming of Amanda was a sanctification to them.

Of Corse it was, he agreed with her, ‘’we have to thank them properly, I think an increase of their salary will be much appreciated,” Owino suggested

Baraka dropped by to visit Mercy and meet the new nanny.

The doorbell was rung.

Her mother was busy positioning their scope.

Amanda was the one who went to open the gate.

A fair skin young man of about their age, stood still with a serious look on his face. His eyes looked direct into hers, and glared at her with despise, he screened her through her body, from her head down to her toes. Baraka was surprised to see a young kid about his age being the house manager. his self-worth didn’t allow him query.

“Hi sir, my name is Amanda, I know what you’re thinking, I am not here alone my mom is with me.” as she smiled and welcomed him. She did not allow his look put her down, she smiled with slight humiliation

“This way….” before she could finish her sentence Baraka walked away.

“I know my way here,” he fumbled

Baraka was a proud kid and full of himself. he was raised by different nannies, and none of them had the pluck to precise him. he was given the supremacies to fire and hire whenever he felt like. at a young age of three he fired four of his minders and his parents watched his charisma grow.

Being a busy couple, non-had time to study their sons adores and aversions, all through only one person could get through him, their gardener, a very hard-working man in the neighborhood who loved a clean environment.

Admiring his designer clothes, Amanda stood by the door leaning at the wall, she watched over him with so much esteeming. She sniffed him from behind over his shoulder.

‘’Wow,’’ she strode along the corridor.

“This place has people who are encumbered with money, look at him, he walks with such power,” lost in her thoughts. She napped herself out of her fantasy

She took off her shoes and snuck quietly into the living room careful not to bang the door,

But when she turned around and her eyes met with three other pairs, two of them shinning with anticipation while the other scowled with spurn, her plan of making a quiet entrance went up in smoke.

“Hello everyone,” Amanda grimaced

“It smells like a walk of shame in here,” Barack sniffed the air dramatically, while Angela and Mercy broke into peals of laughter.

“Tit tat,” Barack clucked his tongue contemptuously

“I knew you had a concealed schema, I revoke your sainthood,” he chimed in as he took the flip flops from her.

“Now go back to work and stop snooping,” he ordered.

Angela grabbed her arm, and drugged her to the kitchen.

“What were you doing?” she scolded her

But instead, she beamed and beheld at her mom with admiration.

“Mom, did you see how he spoke to me with a commanding voice.” She admired his attitude

‘’Wow he even knows how to speak like a royal.” She continued.

I like him, but I don’t think he feels the same about me,” it was love at first sight for Amanda.

Barack went back to the living room and waited for mercy.

She took too long to get back; he was getting bored.

“My girl, don’t even think of it, they are our bosses, keep a distance from them.” Angela spoke and left through the back door

“Cough, cough,” Barack intervallic.

“Go get her for me,” he said crossly and took the mug she was holding

“Sure.” She dipped inoffensively

A gentle knock-on mercy’s room woke her up, she was busy on her laptop doing her assignment.

“May I please come in ma’am.” They slept a cross the house; the room facing directly with hers. Angela heard her voice.

‘Oh no this girl really wants us to get fired,’ she quickly left to go get her out.

‘‘Please don’t do this to me my girl, we are here as servants and not guests,’’ her mother begged her.

A soft civilized conversation between them caught mercy’s attention, she moved closer to catch a glimpse of them, they argued in a sophisticated way, there were no shouting nor groundings, she admired their characters.

“I am sorry mama, am here to get miss. The young master wants her to join him in the living room,” she said.

“Oh no, I am sorry my girl I did not know you were sent here,” she apologized to her girl

“It is okay.” Without Mercy’s permission she opened the door, mercy almost felt down from slanting towards it.

With a slight embarrassment she stood square, and straightened her skirt, she held her head high and tried acting cool, she looked straight in her eyes as she slowly moved her fingers on her top to straighten it.

Mercy asked her why she was in her room.

she tried to hide her laughter by facing down, Amanda politely called her down stairs to go meet her friend.

“It happens, don’t feel shy, it just happened with me now ma’am.” Amanda scorched

but just before Amanda left, Mercy, walked past her and asked her to go together with her, she wanted to introduced them to each other.

“You may leave.” Barack clenched his teeth, his arms crossed over his chest, he glared straight ahead.

“Hold on, he is Barack, my best friend, and you are Angela I guess? My new friend.” Mercy introduced them

“No ma’am, I am Amanda, Angela is my mom, your new nannies.” She cleared out

“You have a beautiful name.” mercy praised her.

Barack pulled her aside swiftly, “stop being gullible, she is a maid lets go play.” He whispered out loud with intents of her earshot him, he was not afraid of her. They left to play but mercy was not settled.

Barack was being mean to her, and was not okay with it, he held her hand and dragged her across the room,

Angela, watched them from the kitchen window.as, much as this was disturbing, Amanda smirked at them and composed herself. She was head over heels for him.
