Chapter 2. the nannies arrival

“Mrs. Angela, we are sorry, we overheard your dialog, is it true you are leaving the shanty town?” a neighbors asked. Before she could answer another one paused a query for them

“And what about our trainings? Amanda was our tutor, she used to support us a lot, my mother now comprehends the art of schooling thanks to her.” A worried voice of little boy spoke out

They did not know how to retort to their inquiries.

“Don’t be derailed because of my departure, I will find a way to come to you, I still hold you in my mind firmly.” She assured them.

An awkward jiffy of calmness was detected amongst them, the neighbors could barely peel their eyes from them, their eyes were filled with tears, so were Amanda’s. They had a good relationship with their neighbors.

Angela, turned to look at the neighbors., her thick brows fusing in a question of frown.

She paused, her lungs struggling to keep up with her thoughts and take in simple breaths. She wanted some alone time with Amanda. She could feel herself struggle against her pull. Amanda wanted the neighbors to stay a bit longer, maybe they will be able to change her mind.

But she was losing her cool, she portrayed a bored facial expression.

“Mom, don’t cause a scene, they are our family, Amanda gritted her teeth and tagged at her arm.

They saw their reactions and the neighbors left

“Finally!” Angela shrugged, as she sneered at her daughter

“Soo…. Where were we..’’ as she moved closer to her

“Oh! I remember.” As she snapped her fingers.

“Well, my love we just have to have reliance in them and be positive, as long they have permitted us both to go then it means they are decent people,”

Amanda looked at her with a huge fake smile on her face. she assured her one diurnal she will buy her a new house and make her live like an empress. She embraced her mom with a lot of love, the two shared a discrete bond.

“Mom, you look ugly when you cry.” Amanda snarled and shuddered into her.

“Come on let’s make some memories.” She suggested a kissed her mom’s forehead and tucked her in her arms again.

Mercy; queried her parents whether they had found her a new nicer minder, and if she will be coming any day soon.

They gazed at her with enquiry, just a day before she had rejected two guardians and now she wants one, alarming spirits streamed in their craniums. They hoisted still and scrutinized her rejoinder, of course they wanted it to be a surprise.

She tapped her fingers in front of their faces and woke them up as she rudely walked away.

Her parents guise said it all, she did not give them a chance to explicate, as if she knew the answer, she port the scope upset and, did not give them a chance to retort to her query.

They had a dysfunctional rapport, mercy hankered for her parents love, the two were always hostile and causing chaos, it made her caregivers quit their jobs without giving out a notice.

she quickly port and went up to her chamber. upended on a gap she earwigged her parents at variance as usual; she locked her door and roofed her ears to duck the audible range of the racket from her mom. she went back to the gap looked at the stars as she talked to herself.

she wished her life was perfect like what the neighbors thought of it. she went down on her knees and pleaded before going to bed.

Baraka, the boy living subsequent house to mercy, was at the dining table by himself, his parents were out on a business trip as usual. after he’s done with his meal, he went to bed, took his phone and called mercy to say goodnight.

‘‘I can bill the gloom in your speech even from the phone, so what’s going on with you?’’ baraka commanded

Acting cool she replied with a jaded voice

“It is nothing new, they haven’t found me a minder yet, and they came home at variance yet again,” she shrugged and suddenly stopped, a heavy panting was heard from the other end of the line.

“Oh, hold on I think it’s getting shoddier; I can hear some cry, I think dad miffed mom, let me go check on her’’ she put the receiver on bullhorn and placed it down

Baraka quickly stationed her, “its best if you stay out of it;” he reasoned out with her

“Why do you need a nanny, any way I am always here for you,’’ he felt offended not being enough for her

they had a long conversation which comforted Mercy.

Angela went and roofed her daughter. she was tired from the parking and fell asleep at the chesterfield. she kissed her and went to the bedchamber.,

just before she left, Amanda called out her mother and told her that, she had a good feeling with the new family they were going to take care of., she had come to terms with the situation, she tried cheering her out.

she arouse to have a trivial heart-to-heart with her mother. they talked for a while and both went to bed. before Angela felt asleep, she took a picture guised at it and spoke to herself, that she finally was going to fulfill her last desires; (of the person in the portrait) she said; she was going to make sure Amanda gets the life expectancy she deserved. kissed the picture and kept back, took the card she was given at the agency, looked at it with a sneer, and nodded her head with satisfaction, sighed heavily then kept it aside, she then turned off the lights and went to sleep

early in the morning Amanda and her mother woke up, they swiftly convey their belongings. Angela thought they were late, she panicked they were going to give a bad first impression. Amanda calmed down her mom.

the traffic was heavy.

“They are late; Melina do you think they will turn us down?” Owino was anxious, he held his chin and gazed at his phone, he waited for a call.

He did not want to dishearten his daughter, he was edgy; hauled out his handset once more and made a quick call to the agency

“Uhm, miss, have they left already?” he spoke with a straight, clear deep voice.

“They should, be there by now, they are very efficient, perhaps its traffic or they decided to gait, to save money.” Joan spoke with poise, but some qualms could be spotted in her voice.

“Agrrrr! Where are they?” Joan chimed out brutally.

“Let us hold on, they must be around the corner.” Melina spoke, flicking out her long hair over her shoulder, as she pulled up the collar of her pelt jacket, she cut walked her way inside the house, pushing Owino aside to create a more comfortable space for herself

Owino was left puzzled, she can’t even compose herself, we are going to have guests and she still throws tantrums on me, he nodded with much disenchantments.

few notes later they arrived; the bell rang; it was unusual for them to receive companies. this however didn’t stop mercy from getting thrilled she dashed outdoor and unlocked the entrance.

she hailed them on behalf of her parents. they were in the study room. she offered them a drink as she went upstairs to call her parents.

She walked carefully, watching her steps, her face covered with a beam.

She slowly walked in the room, they barely heard her in, they were both shouting at each other.

“Shh! Not today please,” she startled them

“You have guests,” she rolled her eyes and left the room, she spoke with anger and begging at the same time

“Stay calm, my parents will be gracing you soon.”

She straightened her skirt, and pulled her scarf, she sat elegantly and placed her hands on her lap. Amanda tried to copy her decency, she craned her neck, as she skimmed her carefully.

Mercy tittered and gushed. “don’t worry I will teach you.” She crooned

Angela could barely hear them, her eyes looked at the stairs, she barely paid attention at them. She waited for them eagerly.

they walked in; Melina marched on her hounds making a sharp click-clack as they walked down the stairs. Mercy looked mortified as she spoke to them.

‘‘it’s my mom, she loves wearing hounds, you will get used to the sound.’’ Her face said it all; she was pissed with that atmosphere; it must be really eating her up.

Angela quickly grabbed her daughters’ hand and gazed at her, alarming her no to do or say anything imprudent before their bosses.

“Mom you’re hurting my arm.” she whispered.

Melina and Owino walked in and hailed them, “Mercy, where are your manners.” Melina spoke with a huge fake sneer, please go and get the shofar, tell him to come help out carry our guest’s baggage and show them to their scope.”
