CHAPTER 152: Dig Up Dirt

Luna Elodie’s POV:

Hours had passed since I returned from the BloodMoon Pack. I had showered, had my dinner, and now paced my chamber, deep in thought. The meeting with Alpha Sam went smoother than I would have thought, and now, I agitatedly waited for his reply.

I needed answers and I wanted them immediately.

The crackling fire in the hearth did little to warm the cold creeping into my bones under the soft clothes I wore. He should have sent a message by now if my calculations were right.

My eyes caught a glimpse of my phone flashing and I rushed over, seeing Maverick’s name as the caller ID.

Dammit. I didn’t want to speak with him yet.

I haven’t gotten the information I needed from Alpha Sam. I had been waiting for Sam’s call, an email, or even a messenger but I was greeted with none of that. I couldn’t reply to Maverick when I hadn’t gotten even a reply or answer to what I asked for.

This was the first time Maverick had ever asked for my help in digg

CHAPTER 153 : Not The Prisoner Third person’s POV:The bedroom was large and vast, bathed in the soft glow from the chandelier hung high from the room, seated perfectly on the ceiling as its glow cast radiant light against the deep, midnight-blue walls. The air smelled of fresh lilies and aged books, a mixture of both elegance and slight solitude, one not favored by one woman in particular. The same woman who stood by the window, her silhouette framed against the clearing beyond. She was still—almost eerily so—her fingers grazing the barricaded window as if reaching for something beyond it that couldn’t be seen, or someone. Her long black hair cascaded down her back, giving her the structure of a perfect portrait of how still she was. She was dressed in a simple white nightgown and nothing else. Her whole focus was outside the window, hating the fact she was kept locked like a prisoner, her sense of freedom inhibited by this barricade, one she so desperately wanted to claw at. “Do

CHAPTER 154: Midnight VisitMaverick’s POVI paced in the room, already exhausted from everything. The weight of frustration sat heavily on my chest as I clutched my phone, my grip tightening with each passing second that passed by. I had been calling nonstop, yet my mother kept my calls busy. Every time I tried again, the line went straight to voicemail. It was obvious she was avoiding me. My breath came out sharp as I ran a hand through my hair, trying to calm my nerves but to no avail. Everything was going bad, the walls of the guesthouse felt like they were closing in, suffocating me in complete silence. I checked the screen of my phone, waiting for it to flash with an expected call but nothing. I needed answers and I wanted them now. With a deep inhale, I forced myself to think logically. Maybe she was just busy. Maybe she wasn’t deliberately ignoring me.But I knew better.Mother wasn’t one of the ordinary things. She could be most secretive when she wants to. If she truly h

CHAPTER 155: Not Forever Pyra’s POV:My breath caught in my throat as Maverick lips pressed against mine. It was a kiss unlike any I had ever experienced—wild, urgent, filled with want and raw intensity. His hands instinctively reached for the back of my head, gripping me tightly like he never wanted to let me go. I didn’t want it to end but I had to. I tried to move away, but Maverick held on tight, refusing to let me bulge out. His tongue slid into mine, massaging and dancing around it. I was strong, yes, but not that strong. I can resist many things but this mustn’t have been one of them. I couldn’t help but melt into the kiss, my lips parting to allow Maverick's tongue to deepen the connection. I didn’t know where I was again as everything melted away like candy; sweet, delicious, and short-lasting. It was only two of us, lost in the intensity of the moment. Maverick's grip on my head tightened, his fingers tangling in my hair as he devoured my mouth. I felt his passion, his d

CHAPTER 156: Poisoned Darkness Third person’s POV:Minister Elais sat on a chair, his face grim and serious as he held up a photograph containing two individuals. His eyes thinned into slits as he continued staring at the photo, different emotions fought in his mind but one was most prevalent; anger. Elais grumbled under his breath, trying to refrain from shouting. “I knew it, I knew he was going to be an imposter.”This was a serious and delicate situation that should be handled effectively and not waste any time over, he thought, running a hand through his rough beard. Immediately he found out what had been hidden in the shadows for a while now, he immediately called Alpha Rhaella, seeking her attention for she needed to be told first but there wasn’t a reply. “She must know this before anyone else.” He muttered again, still deep in thought. He had seen the closeness Alpha Rhaella had had with that imposter, and he didn’t want his Alpha to look like a fool when the secrets got ou

CHAPTER 157: Sirens Of Reverse Harem Pyra’s POV:I reached my penthouse in nothing less than a few minutes, popping into the shower as soon as the doors closed behind me. I could feel the cold water running down my back, wetting my hair, and falling to the ground in loud platters. I ran a hand through my face, as one thought clouded my senses; Maverick. The mention of his name sent a flash of images running through my mind, causing a blush to form on my cheeks. One thing that was for certain is that I do not regret what I had done. No. I do not. I wanted everything that happened and even more, but what hurt me the most was that I had given myself to Maverick yet again on a silver platter. I ran a hand through my face, wiping as much water as possible but more kept falling. What was happening to me? I shouldn’t be this weak of feelings. It was only fleeting, and I’m sure this was what Maverick had always wanted. Then when he was done, he would only discard me like some used toy

CHAPTER 158 : Purple Horror Pyra’s POV:We needed not waste any more time as we got into the SUV, driving directly to the Minister's headquarters where all ministers reside. The drive was short, but elongated by adrenaline as we rushed through the city streets, the engine of the SUV roaring as if it understood the urgency of the moment. My mind was a whirlwind of thoughts, each one a sharp, biting reminder of the stakes. What could have happened? Who would dare kill one of my Ministers?Minister Elais? My Mother’s most trusted advisor? He must have had some important information for him to be attacked. The questions kept running through my head, every passing minute was another piece of the puzzle slipping into place, and I couldn’t afford to waste any more time. The Ministers’ headquarters loomed ahead, its imposing structure casting a shadow over the streets like a fortress. CHAPTER 159: Mad Ambition Natalie’s POV:My reflection stared back at me in the full-length mirror, and I could hardly believe it was me. The woman, no, the stranger looking back at me was poised, elegant, and the perfect epitome of grace and beauty. I marveled at how perfectly she was dressed—unable to believe I was the one. They had dressed me—like I was some kind of important guest and not the prisoner they once held me as. I twirled, watching as the rich, deep red gown hugged my curves just right, its satin fabric catching the light every time I shifted. Everything was to perfection, focusing on even the tiniest of details. Hell, even the lace detailing at the neckline gave it a subtle vintage charm, while the soft swirl of the skirt added a playful contrast. My hair, once uncombed, wild, and filled with dirt, had been carefully curled and pinned into a sophisticated updo. A few loose strands framed my face gently, adding to the softness of the look.I smiled, remembering just

CHAPTER 160 : Sealed AlliesNatalie’s POV:Just who the hell was this man? What does he truly desire? To sit on the crimson throne? Was he mad?I stared up at the hulk of a man, my expression wondrous from what he just uttered. The Minister of Secret Affairs was dead? And from the sound of it, it looked like this Alpha was responsible. A chill ran down my spine at the thought. From my small time spent at FireHeart Pack, the minister had been a formidable figure, his influence touched every corner of the kingdom, and now he was gone?Just who was this man really and how long has he been planning all these? I couldn’t tear my gaze away from Alpha Duncan as he stood before me, his dark, intense eyes locking with mine. There was something in the way he carried himself, something that spoke of power — and danger, something so familiar that I had seen in my reflection more times than I could count. We really are similar. But his desperation would lead him to his death. I chuckled, try

CHAPTER 179: Time To KillMaverick’s POV: The warriors of the FireHeart pack waited with stiff posture, their eyes straight ahead as I passed by them. I rushed into Pyra's penthouse of FireHeart, hoping I wasn’t too late. But when I got to the penthouse, Rhaella wasn’t there. “No, no, no.” I turned away, rushing to the halls of the FireHeart pack, shouting to the nearby pack members. “Where’s the Alpha? Where’s my mate?”The pack member opened her mouth to answer, but no sound came. Her eyes widened—fixed on something behind me. I turned, my heart thudding.Luna Verona stood at the top of the staircase, her long blood-red cloak trailing behind her like a storm cloud. Her expression was unreadable, but her eyes—those fierce dark eyes—held something deeper. One I couldn’t decipher. “Where is she?” I demanded before she could even speak. “Where are the kids?”She descended slowly, deliberately, her heeled boots echoing off the stone floor like a countdown to war. “The kids are fine

CHAPTER 178: DUNCAN ALL ALONGPyra’s POV: It all made sense now. Everything, every piece—like shattered glassware slowly forming a whole again. How didn’t I see this? The lies. The secrecy. The way Steven had always been adamant in knowing everything. The way Steven—no, Caspian—always seemed he was holding back a part of himself like he didn’t belong… because he didn’t. He never did. Not here. Not with us.It all made sense why he was a nervous wreck after I told him he must come with me to the RedClaw pack. “You never know what is around you, Alpha Rhaella. You can sit on your throne, thinking all is safe but oblivious that the enemy can be near.” I recalled one of the strange conversations he had with me. At that moment, it didn’t make sense. I didn’t understand then. But now, I see it all. There was an enemy close by, a wolf wearing sheep’s clothing. And he had always been near. Always been by my side. Always been under my roof and I stupidly trusted this enemy. They had alw

I didn’t even blink. My mind was focused on getting to one place and they shall feel my wrath. The bodysuit I wore molded my frame like a second skin. Sleek and dull red. The material shimmered faintly under the dimming light—thick enough to shield me in combat, yet light enough to move without restriction. It was the mark of the crimson Alphas. An armor they wore in times of battles. One that designates fear, not for any weapon, but the fire in our blood. The bodysuit clung to my form like armor, laced with leather straps and reinforced at the joints for agility and stealth. The style was ancient—Myrrakai, they call it, just like in the legends told of my ancestors centuries ago. No one has worn it for centuries, until me. A silver blade was strapped across my back, its hilt still warm from my gr

CHAPTER 176: A Name To The Gray EyesMaverick’s POV:I walked into my mother’s chamber, still feeling the remnant of her perfume lingering in the air. It was faint now, almost to the point of disappearance. Almost like a fading memory, but unmistakably hers—warm lavender and crushed rose petals. The scent clung to the silk sheet, the walls, the drapes… as if the room itself was infused entirely by her and refused to forget her. My chest tightened. The more I thought about it, the more I realized that she was truly gone. Forever. Yet, everything in here screamed her presence. My heart screamed for her. I stared at everything in the chamber. Her crystal paintbrush she cherished so much, her favorite painting bearing an image of her, me… and my father. Everything now stayed untouched, preserved like relics of a time I’d do anything to return to. I hated this feeling. I stood, watching everything like it was the first time I saw them before finally, I walked deeper into the room and sa

Even the strongest among us were brought low by the tragedy that had befallen the pack.My two sons stayed beside me, watching the event unfold. I dared not allow them a few feet away from me after what happened to Zerek. Never. Everything was happening too fast. Too fast for me to control. It was still too early in the morning but I was awake, energized. My body felt heavy, like it wanted more sleep—even though I knew I overslept. I turned on my side, dragging a hand over my face to wipe off the remnants of the strange unease clinging to me. Something felt… off.I didn’t know how to explain it as I stared at the ceiling but I felt that today wasn’t just going to be a normal day. I sat up slowly, rubbing my temples. The scent of the morning breeze drifted in, mixed with the faint perfume of pine from the woods beyond. My throat itched with thirst and I reached for the bottle of water beside my bed only to feel something crisp. I frowned, turning to see a letter sitting right there. CHAPTER 173: An Empty CradlePyra’s POV:Cold. That was all I could feel. It slipped into my bones, tearing at me from the inside. I couldn’t move, barely able to breathe except for the cold moisture that was so dense that it felt like I was breathing in water. I took another painful breath in, choking on it immediately. My choking seemed to snap me out of whatever I was in because one moment I could feel my eyes closed permanently shut, and air as thick and dense as liquid entering my lungs, and the next moment, I stood before a forest. The trees towered over all, animals ran into their hiding spots as if running from something dangerous. The branches of the towering trees crept like hands, promising a destructive hug but even with that, nothing could hide what hung prominently in the sky, casting red lights that bathed the ground. The moon. It was bleeding a bright crimson red. I veered around, searching all around me. As strange as this place was, it was familiar. I didn’t kno

Not even the stars dared to blink. The once lively whispers of the wind had grown still, and even the wolves, proud guardians of the night, were silent—watching, waiting. And the lands of the FireHeart pack were not immune to this. Deep in the darkness, a pair of dark eyes blinked, making his way straight into the path where a lady waited patiently for him.
