CHAPTER 4: Lies And Deception

“Don’t worry, Maddie. I will protect you until the end.” Kenji said in his soft voice and smiled at her.

Maddie’s eyes widened. ‘What is this jerk saying? I don’t even know him. He is so weird!’ Maddie thought. She then moved backward and crossed her arms while glaring at him. “Whatever! I don’t even know you! Just leave and I want more sleep.” Maddie said coldly. She then walked towards the bed, passed across Kenji, and lay down there. She grabbed the blanket and buried herself in it.

‘I thought this woman was vulnerable but I think it’s the opposite!’ Kenji thought while looking at Maddie. ‘I can’t leave, I must get closer to her and gain her trust.’ Kenji thought. He was thinking so hard about what he should do now.

Kenji then walked towards Maddie and then grabbed the blanket. Maddie’s eyes widened. “Huh?” She gaped. Kenji removed the blanket and threw it away. “Hey!” Maddie called him out and was glaring at him.

“I can’t leave. I don’t have money, family, and home.” Kenji lied. Maddie gasped. “But, why did you book this luxurious hotel? How did you pay for this?” She asked.

“It’s my last money, you are a top celebrity and it will be a shame if I will just bring you to the motel.” Kenji continued lying. Maddie stood up. “Okay, I will just go back to the penthouse and will give you some money.” Maddie said. She touched her pocket but her wallet was not there. ‘Oh, I forgot to bring my wallet.’ She thought and realized. Her wallet is still in the penthouse. She just brought her phone with her. ‘I only have my phone here, I can’t pay him online because I might get caught by somebody else and it will cause a scandal.’ She thought carefully. Since she is a popular actress worldwide, it will be hard for her if she will have any digital transactions. Many are following her, the paparazzi, hackers, etc.

“Whatever! You are not my responsibility. I will call my driver now. Please give me my phone.” Maddie said coldly to Kenji while looking directly into his eyes. She insisted on just leaving the hotel.

Kenji felt frustrated. ‘This girl is so cold and she’s so hard to please! But I need to do something to convince him that she can rely on me.’ Kenji thought. He then took a glance at the ingredients that he bought last night. ‘Okay, I am going to cook her delicious food. Maddie Oh, you will love my dish for sure!’ Kenji thought and felt so confident.

“Before you go, let me cook for our breakfast. I will return your phone after we eat.” Kenji proposed.

Maddie sighed. ‘This annoying guy, alright I am hungry right now. Let’s see if he can cook a delicious meal.’ Maddie thought and decided to just agree with Kenji.

Kenji went to the kitchen area. Maddie was seated on the couch and watching Kenji from his back.

‘He has a nice body structure and he looks so manly.’ Maddie thought. “Um, what is your name?” Maddie asked him because she was feeling bored and they were arguing for a long time. That's why she’s getting curious about him.

‘Kenji is my real name but I think, I should change it a little bit.’ Kenji thought.

“Ken. That’s my name.” Kenji introduced himself as Ken without looking at Maddie. Maddie nodded. “Ah okay Ken, but why are you homeless now?” Maddie asked.

Ken grinned. ‘Looks like she’s getting interested in me now.’ Ken thought and assumed.

“My family died when I was young. I lived alone and independently. But I sold our house, sadly I got scammed and the rest of the money went to pay for this hotel room.” He lied. Ken is now already good at lying and manipulating any creatures. He learned it from his training.

‘What a poor guy. But he seems to be so nice. He saved my life and is now cooking for me.’ Maddie thought. But she shook her head. ‘No, no! Don’t get swayed!’ She thought and convinced herself not to give in and not to trust Ken. Maddie then remembers her birthday and what happened to her parents 15 years ago.

“You know, Ken, yesterday was my birthday. I was so heartbroken that was why I was so drunk due to the excessive drinks I had last night.” Maddie opened up with her sad face.

Ken just continued cooking. “My birthdays were always like this. 15 years ago, I lost my parents and it was my birthday too. That’s why I know how it feels to lose your loved ones.” Maddie added. Her eyes started to water but she wiped them right away and stopped herself from laughing. She stood up and walked towards the dining table. Maddie looked at Ken. “I guess, birthdays are not always meant to be celebrated and to become happy.” She said while smiling at Ken.

Ken’s eyes widened and then looked at Maddie. “You’ll never know that maybe in the next few years, your suffering will end.” Ken said and gave her a fake smile. ‘Of course, because you will soon rest in peace. In heaven, you won’t be sad.’ He thought and felt so excited to kill her.

Maddie nodded but she interpreted it as Ken being worried about her. She sat on the dining chair and faced the table. Ken finished cooking and they ate together. Maddie enjoyed Ken’s dishes and for her, they were very delicious.

“Thanks for the meal, Ken! But, I have to leave now.” Maddie stood up. Ken gave her a phone. Maddie called her driver to fetch her.

After a few minutes, Maddie’s driver arrived, “Oh, my driver sent me a message and he is already here!” Maddie said while looking at her phone.

“I hope we will never meet again, Ken. Good luck to you and goodbye.” Maddie coldly uttered.

Ken was just looking at her. ‘We are going to meet again, soon.’ Ken thought.

“Don’t say that Maddie, maybe we could meet again because it’s fated to happen, right?” Ken said while giving her a fake smile.

Maddie raised an eyebrow. “Whatever.” She then walked and passed across Ken and left the room.

Maddie got into her van. Ken went out from the window of the hotel and followed Maddie’s van from above by jumping into different buildings. “Wherever you’ll go, I will follow you, Maddie Oh. You won’t be able to escape from me." He then grinned evilly.

"I am going to kill you.” Ken murmured to himself with determination.
