Chapter 1
The words were a physical blow,
"I, Robert, reject you, Aurora, as my mate. You are not permitted to come close to me or refer to me as your mate.
You are a disgusting dimwit, a loner, and a weakling. You do not deserve happiness, cursed woman."
Aurora felt a hollow emptiness spread through her chest as if her heart had shattered into a thousand fragments.
She had never imagined that her mate, her childhood crush, Robert, would reject her so publicly.
Robert was every girl's dream man—a Greek god in human form with strength, height, and those charming eyes that could make any girl's legs quake.
They had been close friends during their school years, a bond that was severed when her mother died of a heart disease and her father remarried. The new woman in her father's life had brought a child into the world without their knowledge—a child born of betrayal. Aurora's father, once the perfect alpha and loving mate, had turned cold towards her since her stepmother entered their lives.
Her heart ached as she watched Robert mark her stepsister, Rebecca, a product of her father's infidelity. The sight of them moaning in pleasure, in front of the entire school, was a bitter pill to swallow.
"I take Rebecca as my mate, my goddess-given mate. She will unite our packs."
Robert's words echoed in her ears, his disdainful gaze searing into her soul.
A cruel shove from Robert sent her sprawling on the floor, her head smacking against the cold, hard surface.
"Never show your face to me again. I don't know what the goddess was thinking to mark a weakling like you as my mate. You, who killed her mother, are a disgrace to our packs."
His words cut deeper than any physical wound, and she felt her body convulse with the onslaught of shame, pain, and heartbreak.
Pulling on her last reserves of strength, she stumbled to her feet and fled from the scene. She could feel the eyes of the crowd on her, their whispers and laughter stabbing at her like invisible knives. She knew it was only a matter of time before the news would spread: 'The Weakling Daughter Of The Blood Moon Pack Has Been Rejected By Her Mate, The Son Of The Alpha Of The Cresten Wolf Pack.'
The remnants of her reputation would be shredded to pieces.
Finding solace in her secret hideaway, she allowed tears to flow freely. Her wolf, her inner spirit, had blacked out after Robert's rejection. 'How dare you, Robert,' she whispered through her sobs. 'What did I do to deserve this pain and shame?'
Ellen, her best friend who had always stood by her, wrapped her arms around her.
"Shhh, stop crying. Robert doesn't deserve a woman like you. He's the one who's missing out on a wonderful woman,"
Ellen soothed, rocking her gently. Aurora clung to her friend, pouring out her pain and heartbreak.
"I want to run away, Ellen,"
Aurora confessed, her voice barely above a whisper.
"Far away from my pack, from Robert, from all this pain. I can't endure it anymore."
Ellen was silent for a moment, contemplating Aurora's words. She knew the dangers that lurked outside their pack—the rogues that wouldn't hesitate to tear apart a lone wolf.
"I don't think that's possible, Aurora. You know how dangerous it is outside our pack. We just ended a brutal war and our enemies are still out there, waiting to strike again. Let's return home,"
Ellen urged, gently pulling Aurora to her feet.
As they approached her father's mansion, Aurora shivered. Ever since her mother's death, her father, the alpha of the Blood Moon pack, had become a living nightmare. He had locked her away in the darkest corner of the mansion, isolating her for a year. When he finally let her out, he had brutally declared, '
"This is your punishment for killing your mother, my beloved mate. Your life will be filled with pain, and you will never see happiness again. I will make sure of it."
Aurora still didn't know what she had done to earn such a curse, but she knew her life would never be the same again.
"Aurora, you're lost in thought again,"
Ellen's voice brought her back to reality. They settled onto her bed, Ellen wrapping her arm around her in a comforting gesture. Aurora wasn't crying anymore, but she knew it was a temporary respite. The pain was always there, lurking just beneath the surface.
"Why can't we elope, Ellen? You're strong. You can fight the rogues,"
Aurora pleaded, looking at Ellen with desperate eyes. After a long moment of silence, Ellen nodded.
"I can help you escape. But on one condition..."
Their conversation was interrupted by the opening of the bedroom door.
Rebecca, her stepsister, stood there with a malicious smile on her face.
"Ooh, you're here with your friend,"
she sneered, her eyes glinting with mischief.
"And what do you need, queen mother?"
Aurora asked, her voice dripping with sarcasm. She was never scared of Rebecca, but she was wise enough to avoid unnecessary conflict.
Ignoring Aurora's barbed remark, Rebecca continued to gloat.
"I thought you would be mute after your mate rejected you and marked me in your presence, and you still feel quite lively and not fully broken, but I do not think you will still have it in you once I tell you this news, you will feel shattered and your plans of eloping will also be shattered."
Aurora was shocked at what she said, Rebecca possesses a strong breeder wolf which gives her a high chance of eavesdropping on their conversation before walking into her room, both Aurora and Ellen remained silent, refusing to give Rebecca the satisfaction of a response.
"Well, I have some news for you,"
Rebecca continued, sauntering over to Aurora. She bent down, her lips close to Aurora's ear.
The words she whispered turned Aurora's world upside down. Her face turned ashen, and her eyes widened in disbelief. The room around her seemed to spin as she tried to comprehend the devastating piece of information Rebecca had just shared.
When Ellen saw the change of emotions on her face, she felt concerned and quickly shook Aurora back to reality, ignoring Rebecca, who was leaving the room after she must have accomplished her mission."Aurora, what is it? What's the problem?"Ellen asked, still with concern.Aurora stared at her. Now, her face's colors were returning to normal, and the shock was slowly leaving her. "My father..."She whispered, then tears began to drop from her eyes as she sniffed. Was today ever going to get worse, she thought?"My father has planned to marry me out to the devil."Aurora said as she felt fear consume her. She stared at Ellen, who hadn't spoken a word after her statement, and her face showed she was still confused by her words."Who's that devil, Robert?"Ellen asked, still trying to grasp the situation."Nooo."She emphasized,"If it were Robert, I would accept him with shame and take my fate. I will be forcefully given to the alpha king, alpha Adam, the devil, killer, and devourer
It's been five days, and Aurora only has two days to leave her pack. She had lived under the shadows of her room for the past few days, and she could not grasp what she wanted to do to escape. No central plan crafted by Elena was a success, as she was never allowed to leave the pack or even leave her room except the kitchen and had guards who watched every step she took.As she walked again towards the kitchen, she heard a sound coming out from the end of the passage, which leads to the Library. It sounded more like grunts, and she wondered if someone was in pain. Slowly, she walked towards the path, watching her steps as the ground was rocky and she was barefooted; the grunts now were increasing, and another sound came with it. It was a moan, a moan from the end of a passage; before she could realize what was happening, she saw two shadows in the dark, and it was apparent what they were doing: they were making out, "Aurora, what are you doing here, you bitch, aren't you supposed to
Chapter 4Three men stood in the throne room, their scent different from every other member in the room. The aura they exuded posed a threat to every single member of her pack. Aurora could feel the tension in the room the moment she stepped in. Her body shook at the attention she received from everyone."Here she is, the bride to the alpha king," her father said to the men. They hadn't looked at her yet, and she wasn't ready to meet them. However, she had no choice. She looked beside her and saw Alpha Nathan with his son standing with no emotions on their faces, while Rebecca clung to his arms like his mate, instantly causing her heart to tighten.Suddenly, an eerie sensation swept over her as she sensed penetrating gazes fixated upon her. The men in the room were unabashedly staring at her, their distinct scents permeating the air—a melange of rain-soaked earth, musk, leather, and cypress. These were aromas she had never encountered from werewolves, and their potency was undeniable.
Chapter 5The path to the secret exit was easy, short, and something they could definitely handle until they almost bumped into Rebecca. Quickly, they hid behind the pillar, which easily covered them. Rebecca looked like she was disappointed at something and was murmuring to herself. As she came closer, what she was saying became clearer."I had thought they would treat her with disrespect. How could she be worth two hundred thousand dollars? That's a huge amount for someone as low as her. I couldn't even be worth such, and the alpha king can't be as bad as people always said. The men looked so handsome and good-looking, and I can form a plan to be the one the Steelheart pack takes to their pack rather than the bitch of my sister," Rebecca said as she crossed their path without noticing or scenting their presence because she was so engrossed in what she was saying.Aurora was totally flabbergasted at what she heard. Why would her sister be jealous of her for getting sold off her life
"You do not run away from your home using a dangerous path, Miss Aurora; you might get yourself killed," Oliver said. He could see the fear in her eyes, and he could also sense that she looked grateful for being saved."How did you locate me? I ran away; you weren't meant to find me. I never wished to be sold," Aurora said. She looked scared, and for the first time, she looked at their faces. Damn, these men were so handsome, and she had never imagined that men from the Steelheart pack could be dangerously handsome. Now she knew why her sister suddenly had a change of heart and wanted to take her place instead."As soon as the guards you had deceived alerted us to your escape, we decided to look for you. We talked calmly to your friend, and she told us where you were headed, so we followed your scent and found you. You were about to be killed, and Alpha Adam wouldn't be happy with the news that his soon-to-be bride had tried escaping from him. He would destroy your pack and find you,
Chapter 7Aurora stood on the porch of her family's castle, a suitcase at her feet. The sun was setting over the trees, casting long shadows across the lawn. It was the last time she would ever see this place, the place she had called home for so many years. But she didn't feel sad; she felt numb. Her father was standing in the doorway, his arms folded across his chest. He didn't say a word, just stared at her with cold eyes. There was no warmth or affection in his gaze, just a stony indifference. He didn't care that she was leaving, didn't care that she would never see him again. He had made it clear that she was no longer welcome here, that her place was not in his pack. "You are a curse," he had always said, and taking her away was one of his greatest achievements. Aurora watched as her sister gave her a discerning look, filled with disgust, anger, and jealousy. Robert, her stepbrother, had no idea what her stepsister had done behind his back, nor did he care if she was leaving the
Aurora opened her eyes slowly; the hit had made her dizzy for a while. When she opened her eyes, what she saw shocked her to the brim."We never hoped to encounter these demons in here. They are getting closer to the werewolf lands," Oliver said, staring at her for a while to ensure she was okay. "We need to step out. I can't trust leaving you here. If anything happens to you, the alpha king will not take it lightly with us," Oliver said, and quickly she nodded her head. Whatever was waiting for them out there was dangerous, and quickly she stepped out from the car, and what she saw traumatized her.Standing in front of them were something that she had never seen before. There were eleven of them, and they surrounded them all around. They were different from normal werewolves; they had thick hair around them, and they were in their human form, but still had a strong wolf presence in them. They had long, sharp claws and deep, dark eyes like that of a beast. They looked disgusting, huge
Aurora groaned with pain as her head smashed into a tree."Arrrrhhhhh," Aurora screamed.Standing in front of her was a tall, huge creature—a Rarewolf. He had a victorious smile on his face, displaying his teeth. She couldn't help but feel her stomach rumble with disgust."Who is running off in the middle of a fight?" The Rarewolf said, watching as she struggled to move back away from him. He had done a great job injuring her.Aurora felt too weak to stand up. Her leg had broken because of the hit she had received from him."Stay away from me, back off," Aurora said. Her voice was low, and she could feel her body in so much pain."And why should I obey you? Alpha Adam has killed my brothers and sisters, and killing you will save me from the pain and agony. Also, killing you will kill him."His words shook Aurora to the brim. She felt her body shake with fear and tremor. So he was Alpha Adam. Alpha Adam was the man who had sent shivers down her body without even trying. His eyes were c
