Chapter 5
The path to the secret exit was easy, short, and something they could definitely handle until they almost bumped into Rebecca. Quickly, they hid behind the pillar, which easily covered them. Rebecca looked like she was disappointed at something and was murmuring to herself. As she came closer, what she was saying became clearer.
"I had thought they would treat her with disrespect. How could she be worth two hundred thousand dollars? That's a huge amount for someone as low as her. I couldn't even be worth such, and the alpha king can't be as bad as people always said. The men looked so handsome and good-looking, and I can form a plan to be the one the Steelheart pack takes to their pack rather than the bitch of my sister," Rebecca said as she crossed their path without noticing or scenting their presence because she was so engrossed in what she was saying.
Aurora was totally flabbergasted at what she heard. Why would her sister be jealous of her for getting sold off her life to live as a wife to a man she had never met or seen before?
"You have a weird family," Elena said, looking surprised.
"Yes, I know. She can marry the king for all I care. I just want to escape from here. I only have five hundred bucks here, and I hope that should be enough for me to escape to the human land and find a job," Aurora said, touching her small satchel hanging loosely on her back.
"I have a thousand dollars here. Take it. That should help you last for a while in the human land. I've been saving it for a while now," Elena said, handing her the money.
Aurora smiled at her with her face filled with gratitude.
"Quick, let's leave before we encounter another surprise," Elena said, quickly heading for the window. As they arrived, they saw two guards guarding the entrance to the hall where the windows were located.
"What's the second plan?" Aurora asked again. Elena was the smartest of the two and the most fearless.
"Distract them with this?" Elena said, bringing out a rat toy that made silly rat sounds. "Once I throw it over, the guards will get distracted by the sound, and we will run off as quickly as possible."
Elena threw the toy towards their direction. As she had stated earlier, the guards got distracted and left their post. Quickly, they ran down the hall. Their plan was a success, and Aurora quickly hugged Elena. They disentangled from each other, and she said, "Once I'm in a safe and secured place in the human land, I shall call you." Without thinking twice, she rushed out from the window and gently walked over to the pathway that led outside of the mansion.
She ran as quickly as she could, without looking back. She could feel the wind hitting her body as she ran with so much zeal and determination to escape. Once she's away from her pack, she will start a new life, get a job, enroll in college, and start a good business while concealing her identity. That was her plan.
It didn't take her long to reach outside the pack. She was outside the mansion, and as she stared at it for the final time, she dashed into the forest. That was the only secure way to avoid getting caught by anyone. She couldn't take that chance and hoped she wouldn't encounter any rogues or enemies of their pack.
As she kept running, her breath was getting caught up with her, and her emotions were all over the place. She could feel the thorns tearing through her skin, and she knew that this was the sacrifice she needed to make to live a happy life.
Now she was in the middle of the forest, alone and tired. But she kept running. Her pack was drifting away from her, the farther she ran, the farther she felt the bond and scent of her pack winding off from her. Finally, she reached the border of her pack. Once she crosses it, she will enter the barren lands, in which no one owns. She can walk for ten to fifteen minutes to find the main road where she can take a cab leading to the human land.
After a long walk away from her pack, she decided to rest a little, take a sip of water before starting her journey. She could hear the sounds of cars coming from the east side, and she felt happy. She was close to finally leaving.
As she took her last sip of water, she felt a movement in the forest. It was so fast, and in the next minute, she found herself lying on the ground. She hissed with pain as she felt a hand slap her across the cheek with force, and she yelped with pain.
"What are you doing here all alone?" a voice said, growling, rough, and raspy like the sound of a wild animal, which sent chills down her spine. She looked up to see the human who still had some wolf features on him, staring at her. There were six of them, and she knew who they were. They were rogues. They smelled dangerous with no single scent, and she knew that they were going to kill her without mercy.
"Running away from home? Eloping perhaps to your lover?" one of the rogues said. Aurora felt her mind become blank. She was going to die, and she was a weak werewolf, the weakest daughter of an alpha. If they discovered that she was an alpha's daughter, they would show no mercy.
"Please let me go. Please, I beg of you." She knew her pleas were useless, but she needed to try her best. The rogue walked towards her, and she walked backward, which earned her a growl. She wasn't meant to walk backward; she was meant to remain standing, still, and fragile.
"I do not like playing games. You look so weak and not our type. We can just kill and eat you since you look delicious and soft," the rogue said again. He looked like the leader, and she knew she couldn't challenge him.
"Please let me go. Do not touch me, please. Let me go," she said. She wasn't ready to die, and she hadn't hoped to die like this, in the hands of rogues.
"No, I won't, darling. Perhaps I will take you with me," the rogue said, pouncing on her...
"Leave her right now, or you won't see your limbs again!" a voice said, powerful and strong and familiar. Aurora had heard that voice before, and quickly her eyes widened with more fear.
The rogue dropped her on the ground, and she felt her eyes go blind for a while. Before she could open them, she saw the six rogues lying on the ground, heads detached, hands broken, hearts ripped out, and bodies emptied as if they were slaughtered. All of this happened in a second.
'Who the heck are you?' Aurora thought, her eyes wide open, her body convulsing at what she saw.
"You do not run away from your home using a dangerous path, Miss Aurora; you might get yourself killed," Oliver said. He could see the fear in her eyes, and he could also sense that she looked grateful for being saved."How did you locate me? I ran away; you weren't meant to find me. I never wished to be sold," Aurora said. She looked scared, and for the first time, she looked at their faces. Damn, these men were so handsome, and she had never imagined that men from the Steelheart pack could be dangerously handsome. Now she knew why her sister suddenly had a change of heart and wanted to take her place instead."As soon as the guards you had deceived alerted us to your escape, we decided to look for you. We talked calmly to your friend, and she told us where you were headed, so we followed your scent and found you. You were about to be killed, and Alpha Adam wouldn't be happy with the news that his soon-to-be bride had tried escaping from him. He would destroy your pack and find you,
Chapter 7Aurora stood on the porch of her family's castle, a suitcase at her feet. The sun was setting over the trees, casting long shadows across the lawn. It was the last time she would ever see this place, the place she had called home for so many years. But she didn't feel sad; she felt numb. Her father was standing in the doorway, his arms folded across his chest. He didn't say a word, just stared at her with cold eyes. There was no warmth or affection in his gaze, just a stony indifference. He didn't care that she was leaving, didn't care that she would never see him again. He had made it clear that she was no longer welcome here, that her place was not in his pack. "You are a curse," he had always said, and taking her away was one of his greatest achievements. Aurora watched as her sister gave her a discerning look, filled with disgust, anger, and jealousy. Robert, her stepbrother, had no idea what her stepsister had done behind his back, nor did he care if she was leaving the
Aurora opened her eyes slowly; the hit had made her dizzy for a while. When she opened her eyes, what she saw shocked her to the brim."We never hoped to encounter these demons in here. They are getting closer to the werewolf lands," Oliver said, staring at her for a while to ensure she was okay. "We need to step out. I can't trust leaving you here. If anything happens to you, the alpha king will not take it lightly with us," Oliver said, and quickly she nodded her head. Whatever was waiting for them out there was dangerous, and quickly she stepped out from the car, and what she saw traumatized her.Standing in front of them were something that she had never seen before. There were eleven of them, and they surrounded them all around. They were different from normal werewolves; they had thick hair around them, and they were in their human form, but still had a strong wolf presence in them. They had long, sharp claws and deep, dark eyes like that of a beast. They looked disgusting, huge
Aurora groaned with pain as her head smashed into a tree."Arrrrhhhhh," Aurora screamed.Standing in front of her was a tall, huge creature—a Rarewolf. He had a victorious smile on his face, displaying his teeth. She couldn't help but feel her stomach rumble with disgust."Who is running off in the middle of a fight?" The Rarewolf said, watching as she struggled to move back away from him. He had done a great job injuring her.Aurora felt too weak to stand up. Her leg had broken because of the hit she had received from him."Stay away from me, back off," Aurora said. Her voice was low, and she could feel her body in so much pain."And why should I obey you? Alpha Adam has killed my brothers and sisters, and killing you will save me from the pain and agony. Also, killing you will kill him."His words shook Aurora to the brim. She felt her body shake with fear and tremor. So he was Alpha Adam. Alpha Adam was the man who had sent shivers down her body without even trying. His eyes were c
"Alpha Adam, she survived the virus; luckily for her, her body took the virus and there's no virus found in her," the doctor said. He looked so surprised and shocked. He had never experienced this in his entire lifetime ever since the virus started getting rampant.Adam looked at him with a questioning look. There was no way that was possible; she survived the virus, and she never transformed into one of them."What do you mean she survived the virus? She should have been dead by now or transformed; her wolf is out of existence, and she doesn't look strong to you," Alpha Adam said. Slowly he walked towards her, checked her pulse; she was breathing normally, and her body temporarily was normal. She just needed to rest for a little."I feel so confused and shocked as you are, but I can't find the virus in her. Her body seems to have absorbed and destroyed the virus, which has never happened before," the doctor said again as he showed Alpha Adam the X-ray of her blood. There was no way s
"One, Two, Three …"She counted before slowly opening her eyes. The first thing her eyes made contact with was the sun; the heavy light from the window almost blinded her. With her eyes finally adjusting to the light, she looked around the room. Was she in heaven? Definitely not. This doesn’t look like heaven. The room looked charmingly devilish, filled with the scent of wet earth, rich cedar, and a hint of musk. It was a primal, animalistic scent that sent shivers up her sleeves, belonging to someone powerful and alpha. The door opened quickly, jolting her out of her thoughts.“Miss Aurora, you are finally awake,” a young lady said, dressed in a uniform.“My name is Lina, and I have been assigned to be your personal maid,” Lina said with a smile on her face, her round pouty face making her look cute and beautiful.“Personal maid?” Aurora asked, staring at her with confusion.“Yes, Miss Aurora. The alpha king has assigned that I should be your personal maid…”“Alpha king?” asked Auror
In this room, there is a large, ornate throne at the head of a long table. The throne is covered in dark, brooding velvet, with intricate patterns embroidered into the fabric. A tall, hooded figure sits upon the throne, their features obscured by shadows. Their presence is imposing and powerful, and they seem to command the room with a single look. The people gathered at the table are all quiet and still, like mice trying to avoid the gaze of a cat. No one dares to speak or move, for fear of drawing the attention of the figure on the throne. There is also a quiet, nervous breathing from the people gathered at the table, and a low, rumbling voice emanates from the hooded figure on the throne. Every so often, there is the sound of a floorboard creaking under the weight of someone shifting their feet, as if they are uneasy."The girl escaped; she made it out through the help of Adam, the bloodthirsty werewolf," a voice said. The voice was deep and rumbling, with a hint of something unna
"It's been a week since she last met with the king. This week was going to be the wedding week, and her life has been so boring in the past one week. Even though Lina has been constantly there, she was still not used to the environment. She has been informed by Lina that the king had told them never to allow her out from her room except to eat her meals. But today was different; she had requested to use the library, and she was given the permission to use it."Does the alpha king not have any family?" Aurora questioned. She couldn't figure out why she has been thinking about him when she was meant to never even mention his name from her lips. She has come to despise him, but she can't do anything; she is but a rat while he is a lion."He has a brother and a sister. His brother mostly stays in the human land, and he is the opposite of Alpha Adam, while his sister, no one knows her whereabouts. If she is still alive, no one has ever heard any news about her for years now," Lina said. No
