Chapter 4
Three men stood in the throne room, their scent different from every other member in the room. The aura they exuded posed a threat to every single member of her pack. Aurora could feel the tension in the room the moment she stepped in. Her body shook at the attention she received from everyone.
"Here she is, the bride to the alpha king," her father said to the men. They hadn't looked at her yet, and she wasn't ready to meet them. However, she had no choice. She looked beside her and saw Alpha Nathan with his son standing with no emotions on their faces, while Rebecca clung to his arms like his mate, instantly causing her heart to tighten.
Suddenly, an eerie sensation swept over her as she sensed penetrating gazes fixated upon her. The men in the room were unabashedly staring at her, their distinct scents permeating the air—a melange of rain-soaked earth, musk, leather, and cypress. These were aromas she had never encountered from werewolves, and their potency was undeniable. However, there was an inexplicable uniqueness to these scents; these werewolves, unlike the anticipated alpha presence, did not exude authority as she had expected. Notably absent among them was her betrothed husband, the alpha she had expected to see at the forefront of the group.
A voice broke through the charged atmosphere, introducing itself as a representative of Alpha Adam. "Hello, Aurora. It's indeed a pleasure to make your acquaintance. Unfortunately, Alpha Adam couldn't be present to personally escort you to your new home due to pressing alpha duties. Therefore, he has delegated us to ensure your safe journey home, which will commence tomorrow."
One of the men said, sounding powerful, and...
"My name is Oliver, Beta to the Steelheart Pack. I have been sent to bring you home. With me is Kennedy, the Gamma, and Orion, one of our greatest warriors. The alpha wanted to make sure that you are in safe hands, and you should have no fear coming over to your new home with us," Oliver said, giving the young lady a once-over look. She looked short for her age but chubby, and she had not looked into his face since he started talking. She had been staring at the ground, but that was okay; she would have to deal with the alpha king on that.
"We depart early tomorrow morning. Let no harm come near her, nor any single mark be on her body. The alpha will not be happy to see a single mark on her; he loves his woman clean and not tampered with," Orion said. Aurora gave him a quick look; that was fascinating, but still, that wouldn't stop her from escaping.
"Marissa, take her in and make sure she's well taken care of," her father said with a hiss. It was obvious he wanted her out of his way, and she felt her heart tighten again.
"I will send you the money once you send your account details to us. The alpha will definitely love her, we hope so," Oliver said. His words made Aurora freeze in place. She had thought she was just being married off to pay a debt, but that wasn't just it; he was selling her off too for money. She couldn't take the pain anymore, and quickly she didn't care if her stepmother was with her; she ran off from their presence to her room. The guards were trying to catch up with her, but she cared less; she wanted to be alone and cry her heart out.
As she bolted the door with anger, she fell onto her bed without noticing the presence in the room.
Her body racked with sobs as she felt an unimaginable pain. There was no way that she could heal from all of this. She heard the banging on her door, obviously from her stepsister or stepmother, but she couldn't care less; she just wanted to be alone.
"Stop crying and let's think of getting you to escape since everywhere is guarded," Aurora heard a voice say to her. She looked up with her messy face and swollen cheeks, which had changed colors to pure red.
"Elena!" she said, throwing herself on her, as Elena rocked her like a baby, humming her favorite rhythm.
"How am I going to escape? There's no hope left for me. They are going to sell me off, not just marry me off. I feel like a slave; no image is left of me," Aurora said as her sobs broke her.
"No, you are not a slave, Aurora. You are a wife to the alpha king, a powerful wife to the alpha king. If perhaps you did not escape, don't ever think you are a slave. You are literally the reason why our packs are not divided; because of you, our packs are safe, and you paid the price for it. Now, rather than sitting down here and crying over this, let's escape out of here. I can easily distract the guards; I'm so good at it," Elena said, quickly using a wet cloth to wipe off her face and patting her.
Aurora gave her a low smile; she felt better, and for the thousandth time, she was glad to have Elena in her life.
"So what's the plan?" Aurora asked.
"Our plan still remains the same; you escape through the windows, all I have to do is distract the guards and create enough time for you to escape," Elena said, walking around the room for a while. The knocking on the door stopped, and Aurora, acting out by running into the room, gave them the impression that Aurora was not in her right mind to plan any escape, and this was the perfect timing to escape.
Elena came towards her and whispered some words into her ears, and she listened to the plan. It wasn't going to be easy, and the chance of getting caught was high.
"Let's do this!" Aurora said, nodding at Elena.
Aurora watched as Elena stepped out from the room, and she quickly hid behind the door to grasp what was happening.
As Elena walked toward the guard standing at the door of Aurora's room, she changed her face to one of fear and helplessness and said, "Help, Aurora is in trouble. Her window is making a funny sound as if someone is trying to break in. Please, I need your help, and I think one person can't handle this; it requires your attention."
Quickly, the guards looked at each other and gave her a meaningful stare before hopping out to the room. Immediately they stepped into the room, Aurora quickly stepped out and closed the door on them, locking them in her room. Without thinking twice, they both rushed out to her escape zone. All they needed to do was clear out the guards standing by the hallway which leads to the window, and the plan was so easy and smooth, but something happened.
Chapter 5The path to the secret exit was easy, short, and something they could definitely handle until they almost bumped into Rebecca. Quickly, they hid behind the pillar, which easily covered them. Rebecca looked like she was disappointed at something and was murmuring to herself. As she came closer, what she was saying became clearer."I had thought they would treat her with disrespect. How could she be worth two hundred thousand dollars? That's a huge amount for someone as low as her. I couldn't even be worth such, and the alpha king can't be as bad as people always said. The men looked so handsome and good-looking, and I can form a plan to be the one the Steelheart pack takes to their pack rather than the bitch of my sister," Rebecca said as she crossed their path without noticing or scenting their presence because she was so engrossed in what she was saying.Aurora was totally flabbergasted at what she heard. Why would her sister be jealous of her for getting sold off her life
"You do not run away from your home using a dangerous path, Miss Aurora; you might get yourself killed," Oliver said. He could see the fear in her eyes, and he could also sense that she looked grateful for being saved."How did you locate me? I ran away; you weren't meant to find me. I never wished to be sold," Aurora said. She looked scared, and for the first time, she looked at their faces. Damn, these men were so handsome, and she had never imagined that men from the Steelheart pack could be dangerously handsome. Now she knew why her sister suddenly had a change of heart and wanted to take her place instead."As soon as the guards you had deceived alerted us to your escape, we decided to look for you. We talked calmly to your friend, and she told us where you were headed, so we followed your scent and found you. You were about to be killed, and Alpha Adam wouldn't be happy with the news that his soon-to-be bride had tried escaping from him. He would destroy your pack and find you,
Chapter 7Aurora stood on the porch of her family's castle, a suitcase at her feet. The sun was setting over the trees, casting long shadows across the lawn. It was the last time she would ever see this place, the place she had called home for so many years. But she didn't feel sad; she felt numb. Her father was standing in the doorway, his arms folded across his chest. He didn't say a word, just stared at her with cold eyes. There was no warmth or affection in his gaze, just a stony indifference. He didn't care that she was leaving, didn't care that she would never see him again. He had made it clear that she was no longer welcome here, that her place was not in his pack. "You are a curse," he had always said, and taking her away was one of his greatest achievements. Aurora watched as her sister gave her a discerning look, filled with disgust, anger, and jealousy. Robert, her stepbrother, had no idea what her stepsister had done behind his back, nor did he care if she was leaving the
Aurora opened her eyes slowly; the hit had made her dizzy for a while. When she opened her eyes, what she saw shocked her to the brim."We never hoped to encounter these demons in here. They are getting closer to the werewolf lands," Oliver said, staring at her for a while to ensure she was okay. "We need to step out. I can't trust leaving you here. If anything happens to you, the alpha king will not take it lightly with us," Oliver said, and quickly she nodded her head. Whatever was waiting for them out there was dangerous, and quickly she stepped out from the car, and what she saw traumatized her.Standing in front of them were something that she had never seen before. There were eleven of them, and they surrounded them all around. They were different from normal werewolves; they had thick hair around them, and they were in their human form, but still had a strong wolf presence in them. They had long, sharp claws and deep, dark eyes like that of a beast. They looked disgusting, huge
Aurora groaned with pain as her head smashed into a tree."Arrrrhhhhh," Aurora screamed.Standing in front of her was a tall, huge creature—a Rarewolf. He had a victorious smile on his face, displaying his teeth. She couldn't help but feel her stomach rumble with disgust."Who is running off in the middle of a fight?" The Rarewolf said, watching as she struggled to move back away from him. He had done a great job injuring her.Aurora felt too weak to stand up. Her leg had broken because of the hit she had received from him."Stay away from me, back off," Aurora said. Her voice was low, and she could feel her body in so much pain."And why should I obey you? Alpha Adam has killed my brothers and sisters, and killing you will save me from the pain and agony. Also, killing you will kill him."His words shook Aurora to the brim. She felt her body shake with fear and tremor. So he was Alpha Adam. Alpha Adam was the man who had sent shivers down her body without even trying. His eyes were c
"Alpha Adam, she survived the virus; luckily for her, her body took the virus and there's no virus found in her," the doctor said. He looked so surprised and shocked. He had never experienced this in his entire lifetime ever since the virus started getting rampant.Adam looked at him with a questioning look. There was no way that was possible; she survived the virus, and she never transformed into one of them."What do you mean she survived the virus? She should have been dead by now or transformed; her wolf is out of existence, and she doesn't look strong to you," Alpha Adam said. Slowly he walked towards her, checked her pulse; she was breathing normally, and her body temporarily was normal. She just needed to rest for a little."I feel so confused and shocked as you are, but I can't find the virus in her. Her body seems to have absorbed and destroyed the virus, which has never happened before," the doctor said again as he showed Alpha Adam the X-ray of her blood. There was no way s
"One, Two, Three …"She counted before slowly opening her eyes. The first thing her eyes made contact with was the sun; the heavy light from the window almost blinded her. With her eyes finally adjusting to the light, she looked around the room. Was she in heaven? Definitely not. This doesn’t look like heaven. The room looked charmingly devilish, filled with the scent of wet earth, rich cedar, and a hint of musk. It was a primal, animalistic scent that sent shivers up her sleeves, belonging to someone powerful and alpha. The door opened quickly, jolting her out of her thoughts.“Miss Aurora, you are finally awake,” a young lady said, dressed in a uniform.“My name is Lina, and I have been assigned to be your personal maid,” Lina said with a smile on her face, her round pouty face making her look cute and beautiful.“Personal maid?” Aurora asked, staring at her with confusion.“Yes, Miss Aurora. The alpha king has assigned that I should be your personal maid…”“Alpha king?” asked Auror
In this room, there is a large, ornate throne at the head of a long table. The throne is covered in dark, brooding velvet, with intricate patterns embroidered into the fabric. A tall, hooded figure sits upon the throne, their features obscured by shadows. Their presence is imposing and powerful, and they seem to command the room with a single look. The people gathered at the table are all quiet and still, like mice trying to avoid the gaze of a cat. No one dares to speak or move, for fear of drawing the attention of the figure on the throne. There is also a quiet, nervous breathing from the people gathered at the table, and a low, rumbling voice emanates from the hooded figure on the throne. Every so often, there is the sound of a floorboard creaking under the weight of someone shifting their feet, as if they are uneasy."The girl escaped; she made it out through the help of Adam, the bloodthirsty werewolf," a voice said. The voice was deep and rumbling, with a hint of something unna
