I try to locate where in the room the growls come from when my eyes suddenly land on the darkest corner. I can't see who it is but his scent reaches my nose, and I know without a doubt it's him.

I knew he was going to come in here, this is not a surprise, even if I somehow hoped he would leave me alone.

I try to take a deep breath and steady my raising heart while I pull the covers closer to my body, not wanting to show a single piece of myself to him even if he has seen me before.

I know there is no escaping for whatever he wants, and the sound when I hear him move from his spot in the corner has my body start trembling slightly.

Holding onto the covers with both my hands while I wrap my arms around my body, trying to take a deep breath when his steps move closer. Pure fear for what he is about to do takes over my body, and I can't stop my heart from beating frantically in my chest.
