Maybe our current pose invites misunderstanding, because after all right now Balthazar looks like he's going to hit me and I look like he's dodging him.

Vincent stood frozen in front of the library door which was still open. His face looked pale. "Please don't kill him" he said in a respectful voice that I had never heard come out of his mouth in ages.

"Ah, yes, I forgot. If I kill this kid, you will die too, huh." Instead of explaining our situation, Balthazar confirmed Vincent's assumption. He withdrew his hand and the corner of his lips twitched again. Was it just my imagination? In my eyes he looked like he was holding back his laughter.

Vincent swallowed his saliva and then entered carrying the tray. He serves tea from an antique teapot and two matching cups. Balthazar's cup is filled with tea, milk and a few spoonfuls of sugar. As for me, it's just plain tea. It was obvious he was trying to curry favor with Balthazar.
