Starring at my laptop screen. I decided to update my best friend Daniella about the whole Thabo situation so I Skype her. Daniella is my junior school bestie also bestie for life (BFF) of course. We have known each other for almost 5 years now. She is my ride or die. We tell each other everything and we even bathed together as kids. In fact, we do everything together, we even got matching tats (tattoos). From parties to traveling, heartbreaks and happy moments Dani has always been there for me.

Kate: Answer the call, bitch. This motherfucker be... Hey, Dani! 

Daniella: Hey girlfriend wassup? (Excitedly).

Kate: Nothing much gal. What took you so long to answer girl?

Daniella: I am sorry I was busy. Choirs and stuff. Tell me.

Kate: No worries. So do you remember Thabo?

Daniella: Who? Thabo... Wait is he the Virgin Active guy or the cab guy?

Kate: Did you just say, cab guy. Firstly I don't fuck with cab dudes and lastly, they are too broke to maintain me because I'm expensive. Also, broke boys don't deserve no kitty.🎵.

Daniella: I know that's right.🎵. Okurrr!

Kate: So hell Nah. (I said in disgust). Anyways he is my boyfriend, we met a couple of months ago. It is nearly a year now. On a bus to Maun, he asked for my dials, I gave it to him and we linked. 

Daniella: Ooh, OMG finally, oh bestie I am so happy for you. So tell me is he cute?

Kate: Of course, you know how I roll. Although he is not hotter than Timothee Chalamet. The fact is that he's hot like a heater. Okay but that is not what I want to discuss with you, lets leave the topic for another day maybe on our girls' night. Today he brought me flowers and a beautiful necklace which said forever. (I squeal). That is so sweet of him, I think he could be the one.

Daniella: Look at you someone is in LOVE!🎵. (She sang). Oh, I just hit the Ariana Grande note chomi. (She chuckled) LOL, so congratulations. 

Kate: Thanks... (Suddenly Skylar walks in the room from showering).

Daniella: Ooh who is that handsome fella? Damn, he's fine. Hope he is single because I am and ready to mingle too.

Kate: (Puzzled). Who? What handsome fella? Oh LOL do you mean my roommate?

Daniella: Roommate? Since when do they allow guys or is he Thabo? Chomie, did your boyfriend move in with you? Wow, you just hit the jackpot. I could ride that thing all night long. I will be like come here zaddy, choke me zaddy and spit in my mouth.

Kate: (I laughed so hard). Laugh my ass out. (LMAO). Hey, you are so nasty. Girl stop, you are tripping she is...

Before I could finish my sentence Daniella interrupted me.

Daniella: She! (She shouted in shock. She was perplexed). He is a girl, I mean she is a girl? 

Kate: Lower down your voice she will hear you. Damn, you are so loud, friend. You talk as if you are in a nightclub. (I whispered and I looked behind me to make sure that Sky did not overhear Dani, but she did not. What a relief). Yeah, she is a girl. (She replied).

Daniella: Wow! (She was still shaken, she found it hard to believe). But let's be honest I would totally date her. I knew it was too good to be true. Batswana guys never have that thing, otherwise, it is rare. She was my dream guy. Hypothetically speaking if I was gay, I would make her my boo thing, I would smash her, but I am not. She is so cute though. On top of that, she kinds of looks like Zoe Kravitz's doppelganger. I look like a celebrity check, Tik Tok. (She laughed).

Kate: (I turn back to stare, for once Dani is right she is so cute, her amber eyes damn, I totally dig her sporty look. How come I am only noticing this now? I can also see the resemblance and it is so uncanny. Although she has short hair and Zoe doesn't. Otherwise, mother and daughter... I would totally date her. Gay or not).

Daniella: Kate! Kate! KATE! (She screamed).

Kate: Yeah, yeah um wassup? (Shit I got totally lost in my thoughts).

Daniella: Uh uh gal, (she nods her head) you better not be falling for her? Nope! I only said that I would date her, hypothetical, that is if I was gay, which I am not. So Nah ah girl, she is a Red flag. A big no, with a capital NO! I am not homophobic but you are too pretty to become a lesbian (She said in disagreement).

 

Kate: (That sounded homophobic to me. I feel like Dani is low key against the LGBTQ+ community. She does not notice this yet, but she is). No! I am not lesbo, how could you think so? Besides, I have a boyfriend whom I truly love. I love dudes.

Daniella: Amen sister. Better be that way. Good. No homo, homegirl. Anyways I have to go on duty. Duty calls, catch you later, bye bestie. (She blows kisses).

Kate: Okay miss, track star. Bye, Dani kisses kisses. (I waved).

 I close the Skype tab, look at Sky, and she kind of looks off so I approach her.

Kate: Hey wassup you kind of look turned off why? (I slowly put my arm around her shoulder and comfort her). Do you still miss home? (I asked. Oh crap! Did she happen to overhear my conversation with Dani?)

Skylar: Nah just deep thoughts, I am alright. No need to worry. (She forcibly smiles, trying to convince me but I ain't buying any of that shit).

Kate: Ok. (Well I don't like arguing but I still don't believe her. Anyways it's way past midnight now, I also have a lesson at 8 am, which is in a couple of hours from now. So I leave her bed and hopped on mine). Anyways good night baby G, um do you mind sleeping with the lights off? 

Skylar: Nope, I do not. Should I turn off the lights?

Kate: Yeah if you are done.

She gets dressed in her nightgown and...

Last night was the worst, I can't believe Kate has a boyfriend. Such a bummer. Anyways it's all in the past. It was not all that bad, I mean on the bright side I met a wonderful girl. What was her name again? I have kind of forgotten. Oh! Right, Lindiwe. I had fun singing with her last night. Today is day 2 in BIUST so I think I might go for a little adventure and explore the place before school becomes hectic or maybe make friends. Dear diary, I hope today turns out a-okay. I get up and prepare myself to go for a nice hot shower because I needed it right now. Well, I think I am ready now as I headed towards the door I heard a loud but gentle knock. I looked around, where is Kate? This girl keeps on vanishing. Abracadabra.

Skylar: I am coming. I hope it's not Thabo (I mumbled. Fingers crossed. Something about him, makes me hate him). 

I opened the door.

Girl: Hi, is Kate in? (Phew at least it is not him, but who is this fine ass chick? I hope she is still single. Somehow I always fall for girls in relationships).

Skylar: Hello, um she is not around and you are? (She is never around. She is always a gone girl).

Girl: Oh how rude of me I am Rose, Kate's sister. (She smiled). Are you new here? It is just that I have not seen you around.

Skylar: Sky or Skylar is the name and yes I am new I just moved in yesterday. (Wow, she is just like her sister, she is so pretty. Guess beauty runs in their veins). Ooh, you can come in and wait for her if you are not in a hurry. (I suggested as I opened the door wider for her to come in).

Rose: Oh thanks. (She walks into the room and sits comfortably on my bed).
