"Hello Elise"
The beautiful woman was now standing in front of him, with a beaming smile that could melt the hearts of anyone that was lucky enough to see it. He could say with certainty that it was a smile that would captivate any man and bend them to her will. Happily she was not that type of person though.
"Hello handsome, turns out it was a good thing I delayed my shopping trip for dinner today."
"Haha" Christopher gave a feeble laugh unable to make eye contact with her, he couldn't help but to feel shame. She lifted him by his chin giving him a soft smile.
"After the life you've lived, I'm amazed that you've come this far. Regardless of how you feel. I'm proud of you." She declared planting a soft kiss on his lips.
As far as Christopher could think of there were three to five people in this world he honestly loved and would do anything for. She was the one thing that held him together in this new life. Whenever he thought he was no longer able to take it, she always knew what to do, what to say. ' I will always owe this angel my life.'
She looked at him so fondly. He could feel the warmth in her gaze. The way she was looking at him she could tell Christopher he was god himself and he may just be willing to believe it.
" It could always be better and it could always be worse." shrugged Christopher.
"It always makes me happy to hear that. Because its about to get worse." Her beautiful warm smile vanished immediately and was replaced with one of a grinning demon. You would almost think the gods pulled a trick and switched a look alike with her right before his very eyes. She gave off the vibe of a completely different person.
"Huh?" Was all that he was able to manage before Elise extend her arm out, holding in her hand a letter.
"What the hell do you think you're doing!?" she yelled glaring daggers at Chris. He was completely clueless as to what could make Elise so furious. It then hit him when he saw the seal at the bottom of the page.
'Oh shit!' The color instantly drained from his face. It was a letter from his school! Why the hell is she even receiving anything from them!?'
" I was sent this letter Because I'm listed as your family contact on it, even though they believe I'm only 3 years older than you they have me listed as your guardian." She said while rolling up the letter in her hand. "What's this about you cutting classes!? Being lazy!? Having a hostile personality picking fights with other students!? And most of all being rude to your instructors!?" She smacked Christopher once with the letter for each question asked, Although it was just paper Elise had a way of making it feel as if each hit was being struck with a hammer.
""It's not my fault their lectures are so boring! I mean they teach us stuff that is either out dated or pointless! Not to mention the teacher has a stick so far up his ass that I'm quite certain some one could pull off a pretty amazing puppet show with him! As for the fighting with other students, they're assholes and if I'm being completely honest it wasnt much of a fight, pampered pricks. I mean think about it, Five against one and they couldn't even be bothered to put up a half decent fight!"
Elise let out a sigh. " I understand that you really don't want to be here, and your past grudges but you need to take into consideration all the strings that were pulled so you could go to this school and live a life like everyone else. Cassandra has done a lot for you. At least take that into consideration. What you do reflects poorly on her."
"Believe me I know how much I owe Cassandra, and I love her for it. Honestly though, this is not exactly the life I wanted." he whispered.
SMACK.
"Well too bad for you, this is the life that you have now! So quit complaining and get home, as soon as I'm finished shopping I'll meet you there and you can help me with making dinner."
"Fine fine. Do you need any help carrying anything?" He asked rubbing his head awkwardly. Can't help but to feel like a scolded child. Half feeling guilty, half accused he could only shrug it off.
"No just get going and I would prefer if you didn't manage to get into any trouble on the small walk back to our home."
"How hard could that be?" Pfff Christopher blew out some air at her comment. 'It's not like I cause that much trouble...Ok maybe sometimes but not every day! For instance this week alone I've only been in trouble.... Oh damn it really has been every day.'
"Hehe" Christopher chuckled to himself rubbing the back of his head looking like a complete fool.
Christopher said his goodbyes to Elise and managed to get himself smacked a few more times for some of his off hand remarks. As he began making his way back home he found a public bench and decided to sit down and rest for a minute. He watched as everyone went about their business with smiles on their faces. 'How oblivious these people are.' Christopher couldn't help but to be envious of them. Going through their lives haggling, lifting, working their same routine never changing....Happy. He knew that Elise was right he had to at least try to take things more serious, many people in the world would give their left arm for the chance to attend the academy that he was going to. The same time his patience could only carry him so far. Everyday he had to endure favoritism and society ranking being shoveled in his face. There were multiple occasions their teachers would try to change facts award the right answer to some high ranking brat. Just as an example say the teacher asked a noble w
"HELP!" Christopher knew this was not a good situation by any means. Anyone could recognize a shake down of this sort. The small group was surrounded and on top of it two of them seemed to be non combatants. That left only the two fighters standing in the front. As if things weren't stacked against the outnumbered group as it was. The fighters would have to defend themselves while also trying to protect dead weight. They may stand a better chance if they were alone with a single hand tied behind their backs. This situation... Christopher knew that this was the opportunity of a life time! It was the moment that one could set themselves above the rest, to put it all on the line for the greater good! To conquer ones fears and rise above evil! To be a hero! "Screw this." Mumbled Christopher. There was just one problem with that. Christopher had no urge to become a hero. It was the kind of thing that would just complicate his life or most likely end it. Eith
Even after witnessing the debatable innocent die in front of them the small group refused to give up and unsheathed their weapons the middle aged man pulled out a two handed sword, the Younger behemoth of a man pulled up a giant mace and readied it. He usually preferred to wield his mace with a shield but it would have drawn to much attention so he left it behind, although most people would agree the massive mace he was using would have drawn far more attention. The goons already had their weapons out and had assumed a fighting stance. When they heard a body hitting the floor all of the thugs smiled at the small group. "Janich now that's done come and join the fun." "Oh man I think Janich must be really sick! He isn't looking so good." Big boss man number one immediately turned around at the sound of the familiar voice. On the ground was not Christopher's body but the goon known as Janich with a hole stabbed into his throat. All eyes were drawn to the one eve
The Hooded girl began vomitting uncontrollably having just witnessed a mans head being ripped from his body. After the brief pause to take in what they had just witnessed, her guards came back to their senses. While the enemies attention was elsewhere and still had their backs turned to them the towering youth brought his mace down on the head of the man closest to him. Blood, bone fragments and brain tissue went flying in every direction splattering the walls, even a little had landed on the feet of the women present. The same time the middle aged man cut the head off the other with his Broadsword the head rolled around on the floor coming to rest near the remaining thugs. Now only two enemies remained, Big boss number one and another both caught in between Christopher and the small group. Christopher stared down big boss man number one. Holding the head out in front of him, His emotionless face slowly began to turn into a smile. Witnessing the brutality, and this smile, Big Boss
Half a boss man number one Still had not realized what happened to him. Confused and sweating profusely he could not figure out why he was on the ground, All he did know is for some reason it felt like he had the wind knocked out of him. The thing was though nobody was near him that could have touched him. It was then he glanced to the side, laying next to him was half an arm and some ones legs. ' I wonder who those belong to.. Hey i got the same pair of pants...' The moment half a boss man thought that, he began to feel and immense amount of pain.Chris slowly turned to face Half a boss man number 1 and squat down on the ground staring him in the eyes. Boss man could hardly believe this was the same man who he called out to. He had brought his own death down upon him. Chris glanced down next to him and his smile grew even more."You son of a bitch" whispered half a boss man. ' I remember hearing once that the grim reaper takes on many forms. Who would have
"Well alright then you have deal." "Your highness please tell me you're joking? You are entrusting your fate to someone who is clearly insane! Possibly mentally unstable." Braum whispered in her ear, as he eyed Christopher who was currently taking any valuables and money from the dead men he had just killed. "Crazy? Possibly I'll give you that much. But before you pass judgement you should walk a mile in that persons shoes." Chris shrugged talking over his shoulder. "Although not mentally unstable. Really id say what really stands out in my mind as crazy is the fact that for whatever reason i agreed to help you." "See! He even agrees he's probably crazy!" "Braum that's enough. You have to remember the entire reason for this situation is actually our fault. While i trust you, Garrett, and Vanessa more then anyone else alive, the fact is we need help if were going to get out of here." The middle aged man who's name was apparently Braum let out a deep si
The trip to his home was happily uneventful. Christopher had managed to persuade everyone to remove the hoods. Sure enough it was just as he said. Multiple patrols had passed right by them but none recognized the princess. Although she was technically one of the most prominent figures in the world. The leaders barely ever interacted with their people, if they didn't have someone there to announce their presence or flying their banner then nobody would be any the wiser. There was no way for them to just pull up a picture of her, and she had never taken place in court politics so very few nobles had ever even met her. "Well this is it. Try not to expect to much." Christopher announced once they arrived to his home. On the outside it looked to bluntly put it, completely unimpressive. There was nothing that made it stand out from others. It was not immaculate by any means, but also was not some run down hovel. If one was being completely honest it actually looked average when co
The spoon hit Sarah splattering a little bit of food on her clothing. Although it was light and didn't physically hurt her. It still hurt, the force of Elise's emotions is what she really felt. The look of both Sadness and anger she saw in her face, it was painful to see. Sarah wasn't really sure what she did to anger the girl so much but for some reason at that moment all she felt was guilt. Even without fully understanding what it was that upset her so much it almost felt as if Sarah had just broken her heart, reminding her of her father forcing her into this marriage with Halbert whom she loathed from the bottom of her heart. She wanted nothing to do with him. For whatever reason her father who she had trusted and been able to confide in turned his back on her immediately for the opportunity of some political gain. Heart break was a fresh wound she was growing familiar with unfortunately. "You insolent-!" Braum began to yell, but then felt steel being pressed agai
"They used siege magic on the rear line?" Alexis asked with a furrowed brow. "Why would they expend so much magic on the rear line?" To Alexis this didn't make any sense. If they were using it as an opener to an attack from the rear, it would definitely be justifiable. Have your men rush in taking advantage of the destroyed lines and chaos. But using siege magic alone and backing off, would be like someone taking a shotgun to kill a spider inside their own house. Beyond overkill. If they had struck the center of their lines, their commanders, or even their supply train, Alexis could understand the expenditure. Most magic users could fling spells they specialized in for a majority of the day. But siege magic? The average mage could use it four times in one day, but be severely weakened for the next couple of days. Sure they could use siege magic again the next day, but each day without a proper recovery time the power of the attack would be cut in half. "Well sir it seems the rear l
Inside Helenfel. "Right here." Cassandra pointed at a section of her map sprawled out on the table. "This will be the perfect place." Andrea walked around the table to stand next to Cassandra looking down on the map. "Hmmm good call. When they emerge here they'll be in a bottleneck." "That's not all. They'll be coming around a corner too. They wont be able to see our army waiting for them until it's too late. We'll also have archers along the cliff tops. that can shoot down on them." "Why not have our archers continue firing down on them the entire stretch? That's miles of cliff ledge we could use to thin them out." Garrett asked retracing the path on the Albrael army was taking. "Because we don't want to give away our archers. The reason we've barely had our men harass them the past day was leading up to this moment. Most of all we don't want them to double back, leaving the kill zone we've set up." "Isn't there a chance they sent men to the top of the cliffs too though?" "We
Multiple days had passed in the City Of Darkness following the surrender/purge of any still resisting dissidents. And life had begun returning to normal little by little after the bodies were removed from the streets. Havoc's army had upheld their orders. Those who surrendered were allowed to return home without any recourse for fighting against their new host. Neither the members of The Black Guard, nor their militia counter parts caused any unnecessary damage, nor did they loot and pillage the city. Frankly apart from the angered nobles who's homes had been bombarded during the siege, the city was peaceful and upbeat. The stalls were open, any artisans were back to their crafts. The children ran and played in the now cleaned streets that had been soaked in blood not long ago. Guards were posted on every wall and street corner. Christopher and the other leaders involved weren't fools. Though they had been merciful, eventually there would be some who would try fighting back. They e
Just a little earlier"This is big! This is really big!" Brisia grinned ear to ear as she paced back and forth hardly able to contain her excitement. Her little walk even leading her up the walls and onto the ceiling dancing, and skipping, somehow defying gravity."Shit! Shit Shit!" Alesia growled through grit teeth. "I knew something was coming, but even I never imagined this!" Alesia's current mood was about as close to polar opposite of Brisia's as it could get. 'This is the last thing we need currently! If they find out, especially in the middle of this war, we're seriously fucked! Like fucked on the level I was when all the other gods betrayed me and had me cast from the heavens! Perhaps even more fucked!'"I still can't believe it! I mean I suppose when you look at his track record it would make sense, but holy shit!" Brisia exclaimed. "Not just immortal but he's turning into a god.""I know... More so a god of death." Alesia groaned. The completed 'tattoo' pretty much confirme
Thunk.... Thunk..."Riggy... Any day now..""Y-You d-don't rush perfection!" Mortis groaned as his nerves were being grated against by a rather pushy spirit. "E-Elise if you think you can do better, by all means t-take over!" He snapped back.Thunk! Thunk!"Well look Riggy.. I don't mean to be pushy... BUT PEOPLE ARE TRYING TO FUCKING KILL US!" Elise roared flapping her arms up and down like they were wings.Fwee! As though on cue an arrow zipped between their faces, mere millimeters from giving Mortis a nose piercing he didn't wish for....."S-See not that bad.." He stood his ground glaring back at Elise who could only return his gaze with wild eyed disbelief.Thunk! Thunk! Thunk! Thunk!"That's because there's a wall of shields protecting you and your wrinkled ass!"Thunk! Thunk! Thunk! Thunk! Thunk! Thunk! Thunk! Thunk! Sure enough the members of The Black Guard had formed a wall of shields covering the pair as Mortis went to work claiming he had the means to bring down their gat
Christopher walked to the giant hole in the wall he had created when trying to incinerate Markous looking out over the city breathing a heavy sigh, hanging his head low and shaking it. "What's wrong? At this rate the city is as good as yours? Shouldn't you be happy?" Brisia asked walking up the wall before hanging upside down looking out of the hole too. "See your people are already working on the third gate. Isn't this what you wished for?" "I'll admit.. I wasn't expecting to get that old bastard's approval, but this didn't pan out as I had hoped." He shrugged watching balls of fire rain down upon the noble district from the trebuchets outside the city. "Sooo you didn't want the city?" "Pftt I could give two shits less about the city. I wanted the power that dwelled down here. On that note I suppose you could say this was a success. But by the gods the more I was stuck in the presence of that asshole, the more I want to feed his head to a thousand small animals. Just gotta hope th
"HAHAHA JUSTICE SHALL BE DELIVERED!" Vale cried out as though she were a poor soul who had been denied justice by the courts for far too long.BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM!The ground erupted all around both the twins and the behemoth of a Vampire. The girls quickly turned their backs to one another taken by surprise, readying themselves as best they could considering their injuries. Their eyes caught a glimpse of a creature emerging from the earth, and it was almost instant. The pair blinked and by the time their eyes opened the massive beings were already hovering well above their heads."You've got to be shitting me." Lala mumbled."If she could do this, It would've been nice of her to have done something sooner." Laura huffed her arm dangling limp by her side.Though still on edge the twins felt they could finally breathe a sigh of relief. The pair took several steps back returning behind their friendly lines. While the Vampire they had been battling constantly had a very differe
RAAAWR! A roar ripped through the caverns as the ground beneath their feet began to shake violently. Many people from both sides of the battle looked around trying to find what kind of ferocious beast could emit such a blood curdling sound. "I haven't heard a roar like that in thousands of years." "I've never heard that kind ever!" Their eyes scanned the surroundings. Looking side to side, up around the cavern ceiling, only to find nothing. The monstrous sound was far to loud for anyone to mistakenly assume they had just imagined it. The rumbling earth began shaking harder and harder although you couldn't physically see any movement, the people could feel the movements underneath their feet from whatever was coming, like a slithering serpent snaking it's way through the grass. It felt as though the very earth beneath their feet may collapse at any moment. If anyone in the vicinity were to claim the gods were angered and unleashing their fury on the city, many wouldn't doubt the w
This day and age when someone says an army they think professional soldiers, fighting and killing is their bread and butter, it's what they train for, it's what they're paid for. Their job consists of nothing besides honing those skills. Training and searching for a way to improve upon the ability to kill, to take the life of another human being. But there's times where an army consists of ordinary people, every day people. Bakers, smiths, teachers, sometimes even the students, people you who have never seen combat, mix these people in with some trained soldiers who're willing to advise and educate these people, and at times these armies can be just as dangerous as the professional ones. When you have a reason to fight, whether it's for a better life, to protect someone, to make a name, for your country, even if for a moment it places you at odds with it, you can become a force that's mighty. With no identifying uniform, the enemy will never know when they're about to strike. A man,
