Twenty-Six

Ferrah-

Rushing past him and down an almost pitch black corridor, my foot steps along with the guards echo down the corridor, twists and abrupt turns catch me off guard as I run down the dark hall. A flicker of light catches my attention at the end of the hall and I quicken my pace.

Crashing into the door, I force it open, run inside and slam the door closed behind me and lean against it in an attempt to keep the guard out.

Rustling in the corner catches my attention. Out of the shadows steps a tall scared and chained beast. His black fur is matted and missing in dome places.

“Father” I breath feeling and overwhelming angst wash over. A sob racks my body as more memories of the past crash into my mind.

My mother sits in a chair by the fireplace embordering nettle held tightly between her fingers as she threads it through the delicate fabric of the silk handkerchief.
