The smile that my mate wares as we drive away from the house after welcoming the pups into our house is bright and full of light as if she had found the greatest treasure to ever exist.

Her hand held tight in mine as I drive I catch a glimpse of a red Honda four-door behind us in the rearview mirror and shift in my seat preparing for what ever this might bring.

‘I don’t know but they’ve been following us for some time now’ I tell her.

‘take the next exit and follow the river to the second exit to the council house’ she says and I do as she says, switching lanes I exit the highway and take the left along the river.

Looking back in the mirror the same car follows behind us, stepping on the gas we speed down the winding road, taking sharp corner after sharp corner as the car speeds up to my side and trying to run us off the road along the river back.
