HANDSOME WOLF

“Arthur” came Natalie's soft whisper.

For a moment, Kael saw a rush to events which he doesn't seem to understand and this happened immediately Natalie called that name.

Who is Arthur?

Her boyfriend? Was he the man riding the bike earlier?

Also what were those flashes?

“Natalie, we are here”. He tapped her shoulder lightly.

“What you are trying to tell me is that you guys are animals?” Natalie couldn't find any better word to describe it.

Kael was about telling her some story after asking if she believed in the existence of werewolves when she slept off. Truly, it was a short sleep but that doesn't mean she wouldn't have her usual dreams again.

She only felt a light tap on a shoulder which jolted her away. Looking around, she could see that they were already at their destination; Ethan's house. Although she couldn't make out what the full apartment looked like because of the darkness, the soft ray of light from the moon could still show some distinctive features of the house.

Simple but magnificent! She never expected that someone as rich as Ethan would love simplicity but then, the insides might look more glamorous than this.

“Natalie, I have something to tell you before we enter into the house” Kael's voice suddenly broke her off her checks and thoughts.

“Mr Kael, I hope everything is fine.” She asked because he now looks more serious than ever. And did she just see him rub his palms together?

Nervous?

“You see, this is just something you should know before you go in”

Natalie only stared at him, wide-eyed. Now, he sounded like she was going into the lion's den or whatever was behind that door would swallow her.

Observing her expression and body language, he could see that she was truly afraid and only trying to hold it in but it is important he gives her this piece of information because he is so sure that Ethan would have caught a whiff of her smell no matter how little it is. She is his mate after all and Alphas sense of smell is higher than a regular werewolf.

Seeing that she gave him a go-ahead with her silence and curious eyes, he speaks up again.

“I was telling you a story before you slept off. Unlike your belief, werewolves and other fantasy creatures exist.”

He gouged her expression again before he dropped the bombshell.

Natasha could only stare at him intently. He looks like he was so serious and sure about this piece of information. Why does it also feel like whatever thing he will say next will change her life forever?

“How is it possible that they are real?”

“Because the moon goddess created them. You must have seen in those movies you call fantasy that they have a different reaction to the moon unlike humans do.”

She nodded to confirm what he said. Of a truth, she had seen a human turn into a wolf on a night when the moon appeared in the sky in one of the movies she had watched.

“They call that “shift”? She asked, to confirm her doubts.

“Yes. A werewolf shifts especially during the full moon, as we have tonight.”

Natalie peeked through the car's window and could see that it was indeed a full moon in the sky. No wonder the day looks younger.

“That’s a bit of information actually. So, this means all werewolves will shift tonight?” Natalie asked, getting more interested in this subject.

“Not all but the older ones from 18 years and above. Also, a lot of wolves will find their mate tonight.” Kael decided to add the mate talk seeing her interest in werewolves.

“Mate? Like a best friend?” One could see the confusion on her face now.

“No. You see, the moon goddess has given every wolf a partner, their soulmate, whom they will be with forever except one of them dies. Because of their powers being derived from the moon, their senses are heightened so they can perceive these mates on full moons like this, especially the ones of age 18 and above.”

“So, werewolves get to have one boyfriend and husband for life?”

“You can put it that way. Once a werewolf finds his or her mate, no one else matters anymore.”

“That makes sense. At least, it will save the risk of heartbreaks. But how do you know these things?” Natalie asked after a critical thought.

Kael expected that she would ask that question sooner. Here comes the moment of truth!

“Miss Natalie” He called her attention with an expression which she cannot describe. “What I am about to tell you should not be heard by another ear. Otherwise, it will bring you danger”

Natalie looked at him again and seeing his expression, she knew she would not like his next statement. However, she wanted to hear them so she nodded in agreement.

“I am a werewolf!”

*silence*

“You are so funny, Mr Kael. If I didn't know you as EthAB Corps’ assistant CEO, I would have thought you are an actor or a comedian. That was a nice line by the way.”

“This is no joke, Natalie. I know it sounds unbelievable because everyone thinks we only exist in fantasies but we are real.”

With his expression and tone, she could tell that he was so serious. She has been discussing with a werewolf all these while? Already thinking of how to escape, she decided to ask one last question even though she felt she knew the answer already.

“Does your boss, I mean Mr Woods, know about this?”

Kael could see that she was in shock but she has a strong mind. An average human would have freaked out after hearing that. She is their Luna after all.

“Natalie, I know you are not expecting this but yes, Ethan knows about it and he is one of us too!” He said like he was just talking about the weather.

“One of you? You mean that handsome man is an animal too?” Natalie suddenly blurted out with wide eyes.

Kael smiled gently when he heard that. It seems the Luna is already having a crush on Ethan even without her own knowledge.

“He is a very handsome wolf after all. The most handsome I have seen so far.” He was not bluffing when he said that though.

After few seconds of thick silence, Natalie spoke up again:

“But why are you telling me all these? I'm not sure you tell everyone, not even your employees because Toria never mentioned this.”

“Natalie, I am not in the place to tell you this but you should know about werewolves and how our world works. Later on, Ethan will brief you about other important things.”

“Mr Woods? Why him? I mean he doesn't look like someone who would ever have a conversation with me!” Natalie couldn't understand why Kael seemed so keen on matchmaking her with his boss.

“Because you are his mate!”
