*ASA TRINE*

“Move.”

“No.”

“I said move out of my way.”

“Not until you tell me why?”

“You know why.”

“Then I can’t let you out of the room.”

Cain stared at me as I glared back at him. He had been blocking the way to the exit of my room for the past twenty minutes to stop me from going outside.

“You can’t keep me in here forever,” I said cocking a brow at him to challenge him openly but instead of taking my bait and riling up like he usually would he simply stared at me and then shrugging once he said, “We’ll see about that.”

For some reason, my plan of making him get tired of this conversation was actually doing the opposite as I found myself getting more and more impatient to escape out of here with every passing second while he seemed to be playing around with me as he entertained himself.

“You are enjoying this aren’t you?” I asked making a face at him and pulling up one of his shoulders he smiled as he didn’t say anything.

When he noticed me waiting for an answer he chuckled and sa

*ASA TRINE* “Remember no funny business,” Cain said as he looked at me with a serious expression donned on his face. The chiseled jawline that glinted in the moonlight was set grimly in adamant command and sighing at the accuracy of his judgment I gave him no reply.I didn’t want to give him any direct empty promises.Looking at the beautiful marble dome shaped temple I marveled at the finite structure that had been a hub of hope and belief for hundreds of people. To this immaculate building there was one eyesore standing right in front of it like a dirty spot and going up to that guard Cain said, “You can take the rest of the time off. I’ll be here to guard the temple.”The guard who had been elected for this job of protection seemed in a dilemma as he glanced at me and then back at his feared leader. When Cain cocked an eyebrow at his delay he quickly nodded his head and looking down he was about ready to leave when I asked, “Is there anyone else visiting?”By the time I had bee

*ASA TRINE*The light at first blinded us making us wince and close our eyes. Immediately getting up from my lap Cain sat in front of me guarding me with his body to protect me from whatever it was that was happening around us.When the flash settled down a little I could see tiny specks of light slowly arise out of the crevices of the wall, out of the historic colors of the paintings, out of the beautiful strokes of the ebony inscriptions, and from the air itself. Standing up slowly we watched as the disarrayed specks floated around us and took the form of a swirl in the empty mass of space that the circular dome-shaped temple provided it.What were these lighted specks? Was it magic? A different being? Or was it the doing of the goddess herself?Looking over to her statue I found her completely covered by this magical mist and glow as if to prove her presence in this temple and in this pack and unconditionally I found both Cain and I lowering our necks in submission and respect to t

*ASA TRINE*“She is perfectly fine just tired. A good amount of sleep should be enough for her body to regain strength again,” The pack doctor said after inspecting me and feeling a lot better than before I moved to sit up when I was pushed back down by a heavy hand.Keeping me in place with the help of it Cain then thanked the doctor and said, “Are you sure that there aren’t any problems?”He was really worried and when he received a positive answer about my recovering strong body he heaved a sigh in relief and didn’t even bother to bid the doctor goodbye as he immediately gathered all his attention back on me.“Tell me if you need anything and you are not supposed to move out of this bed for the rest of your life,” he said with an almost serious tone in his voice that made me chuckle.“The only thing I need right now is you in my bed to cuddle with me,” I said moving to the side to make space for him.I was very tired and some closeness with my mate would be the most healing medicin

*THIRD PERSON POV*There was a sudden frigid stillness in the air that would have been perceived by anyone awake at this hour.A shadow loomed in the darkness of the room eating away at the warmth and homeliness that had been prevalent inside. This sudden change in the atmosphere although palpable was unnoticed by the occupants of the room who lay in their bed, cozily sleeping together.“So, she finally decided to greet my presence,” the shadow peering down at them mused to itself as it swiftly moved across the room and towards the open window through which the Moonlight was falling in.“Did you realize the strength I have been gaining over you?” he mocked the silver moon that stayed high and mighty in the blanket of stars unwavering by these comments of this monstrous figure.Although he said this he knew he wasn’t yet strong enough for till the moon shone in the sky no one would ever acknowledge him.“This is definitely not fair,” he muttered as if talking to a close acquaintance, “

*ASA TRINE*I hadn't slept a wink last night. My eyes were swollen and my throat was scratchy from the constant prayers I had been muttering all night long. My body still in that crouched position beside Cain was aching all over but even now that it was bright and safe outside I couldn’t seem to inch away from him.‘It’s alright now,’ Xara whispered in my head, she herself having been exhausted by staying on guard all night while howling in my head calling out to the goddess for help. What happened last night had been a horrible experience for me that I would never forget. I had never felt this helpless in my entire life when I could feel the demon taunting and playing with me but I could not do a thing about it. I was truly all alone last night and the realization that the demon could do such tricks struck me with the reality and seriousness of this situation.Suddenly I felt Cain stir in his sleep for the first time since I woke up. That gave me hope and when he turned around and hu

*ASA TRINE* Hospitals in particular had so many bad memories associated with them for me, that I despised every second of the pristine white walls surrounding me right now. The air of sadness and grief that lingered in my cabin had been getting denser with every other person that came to visit me. I wanted to run away. The look of worry sadness and fear that had been cast onto their face behind a reassuring smile had been more painful to me than the fever that had been gripping me. I wondered for a second if what I was striving to do against their wishes was actually beneficial when I had been only just causing them pain. The answer to this was always a mixed reply and the dilemma of the situation was causing my headache to return back every time that I stressed about it. ‘I know the times feel difficult but you can’t give up now, Asa. The Moon Goddess has chosen you for this job. She has given you her blessings and you have to follow it through till the end, you cannot break her tr

*ASA TRINE*“It will never not be embarrassing,” I sighed as I felt all eyes on me while Cain took me through the busy hospital corridors in his arms.“I don’t see you complaining much,” he grinned down at me, and smiling up at him I noticed his eyes glint with naughtiness and suddenly he acted as if I was falling from his arms but quickly catching me he said, “See you seem to enjoy the ride.”When this situation might have caused unwanted attention to us I also enjoyed the fact that I was letting these women get a clear message that this man was mine even though they wouldn’t dare approach him. Besides our public interaction always seemed to make him a step closer in the people’s minds as a caring and nice future Alpha.“Who would deny the joy of being in their mate’s arms?” I asked shrugging my shoulders as I turned to kiss his chest right on top of his beating heart.“You did, a while back,” he grumbled, and even though I knew he had brought it up in fun and nothing serious I foun

*ASA TRINE* “They would be proud of you even though I am not really happy to send my baby sister far away.”Leia said as she wiped a photo frame with the sleeve of her hand and placed it back over the table in Mom and Dad’s room. The photo displayed a picture of all four of us together smiling at the camera with big happy grins on our faces just a few days before my parents died.Last night I had spent the night here at Leia’s place or back at my childhood home to spend some time with my sister before I would leave for the Aegon Mountains and to Elder Morris.“I know they would have been happy but can you imagine how they would have been reacting exactly?” I asked with a small smile on my face trying to imagine it, having spent only a minor amount of my wakeful years with them.“Dad would have been crying with pride and worry while Mom would be telling you to take care of yourself while supporting Dad’s over-emotional self. *ASA TRINE* “Come on, hurry up Devin, you can’t be this slow!” Leia scolded him and the sound of it came all the way up the stairs making me stifle a laugh. “You look beautiful, miss,” Ross said gaining my attention as he helped me with my skirt that had wrinkled below. “Oh no, Ross please don’t do that I don’t want you hurting your waist,” I said as I tried to stop him, but it was no use the old man had been so used to taking care that even after giving him retirement from all his work he would still find something to do. “Michael! That’s not right! The cake should be here!” she shouted again as I heard Michael shuffling around and again I tried to stop my laughter from filtering through at my sister's frustrated antics. “Its time to go down, Miss,” Ross said as he smiled at me and hooking my arm around his I took his help to carefully step down the steps as I saw Cain standing there at the end of it with little Kiara in his hands. She looked adorable in her frock that she had b

*ASA TRINE* “You called us, dad?” I asked peeping in. Nodding his head at me he motioned for us to sit down and filtering in I noticed that Luna had also been there looking through some books as she smiled at our presence. “I am sorry that I am late,” Clay’s voice filtered in but he stopped soon after when he saw the two of us already seated there, “I swear I haven’t done anything this time.” “We know that you haven’t done anything Clay, we are not here to complain about you,” Cain said huffing at his brother but a smile slipped on his face and I wondered if it would be right to separate these two brothers when their relations had only just started improving. “Well then what is this family reunion for?” he asked as he sat down on a chair beside Cain looking at his dad with a questioning look making Cain and I fix him with that same gaze. “Can’t I just miss my children?” Alpha asked as he looked at us and when we remained adamant in our gazes he laughed and said, “Fine you caught

*ASA TRINE* “No, wait, did you bring the bag of chips that I had kept on the table?” I asked stopping Cain as he looked at me and shaking his head in negative, he said, “Just give me a minute, I’ll be right back!” It had been two days since we had gotten back and thankfully the crowd had started straying away from us a slight bit for us to decide on going on a picnic today. Another thing that had been something really good was Cain’s carefreeness. He had been smiling more and he didn’t look like he had to be on his toes every moment of his life. I think a huge credit goes to Clay and I rejecting each other. This weird phenomenon had also seemingly improved his outlook of his brother as he didn’t seem to be worried about his presence around us anymore though it didn’t mean that he became any less possessive. Looking back at our home I waited for him to come back but it was taking him longer than I had thought, and I wondered if I had actually brought the chips with me. Looking

*ASA TRINE* “That’s enough Leia, please!” I begged as I tried to escape her aggressive hits that she had been raining down on me. After seeing me she had almost ran up to me and the first thing that she had done was to hit me with all the force and energy that she had in store. “Hey, that’s enough, please if not anything then think about the baby,” Michael tried to intervene and taking the opportunity I hid behind him feeling my head almost about to burst from the built up stress. I loved my sister and I knew that she wasn’t the cause of this but I was moments away from shouting at her. “She hadn’t been feeling well too Leia, please go easy on her,” Devin pleaded my case making Cain sit up straight as he looked at me and asked, “What? What happened to you?” I had wanted to speak to him the first thing when I saw him return but he had come back with the rest of the family and I couldn’t find a moment to take him away from them as the Luna showered him with love and Alpha pra

  • Fated to My Mate's Twin   Chapter 137: She didn’t go.

*ASA TRINE* Clay had disappeared away as mysteriously he had come and right now my brain had been combusting at the possibility of what was happening. Why did I feel those things that I would have only with a mate? What did it mean? “Asa? Are you alright?” Devin came in soon after Clay had dropped me off at the entrance of the pack house only to hide back into the crowds of people. Looking around for him I tried to see those same blue eyes that had once been the reason of my tears and later the cause of my determination to solve this mystery. I wonder what he must be thinking right now and whether he had been okay. ‘What is wrong with us Asa? I can feel a connection to Clay just as much as I can feel a connection to Cain but I feel as if my body is being torn apart in both directions,’ Xara panted in my head making me aware of my own body’s condition. Now that she said I had been feeling a slight pain in my chest since i got off the car and this must be the reason behind it. ‘Th

  • Fated to My Mate's Twin   Chapter 136: Sparks

*ASA TRINE* “Are you excited to go home?” Cain asked looking at me from where I had been sitting in the passenger seat of the car while Devin now occupied the back seat. “Did you even need to ask me that, of course I am!” I said looking at him to find that his eyes had been looking deeply relaxed as they flitted over my face. There seemed to still be some anxiety within him but he was assured now that he wasn’t going to lose me. But he wouldn’t let me away from his eyesight for more than two minutes. So maybe he wasn’t completely healed yet but at least he was on that path. “I am so glad that everything turned out as it did and that nothing happened to you,” Devin sighed from where he was sprawled on the back seat looking as if the life had been drained out of him. Right now he looked older than what he was and I gave him an apologetic smile. “Sorry that you had to manage and meet all the people who had wanted to meet me,” I said remembering the hordes of people who had been

  • Fated to My Mate's Twin   Chapter 135:“Except us?”

*ASA TRINE*“No...”I said for the first time in a while as I felt my voice return to me. I knew that I wasn’t conscious and that part scared me more for if I wasn’t consciousness then I must be dead for the goddess to visit me.She didn’t look anything extraordinary as I stared at the bright mass of light that had been blinding to me before. This light unlike Ephialtes had taken a much proper shape like that of a human and had long wispy hair of light floating all round her being. Her yes had been white as well but again unlike Ephialtes they didn’t look soulless they looked full of life.I felt blessed to have seen her but just the thought of what would it mean to be to see her meant made tears spill out of my eyes as I fell to my knees in front of her. None of my wounds hurting anymore and I wished for them to pain and hurt me again, anything that would tell me that I had been alive.“Please Goddess, let me live, please id don’t want to die just yet,” I pleaded pathetically the fac

*ASA TRINE*And as I said this I went towards Ephialtes who dodged me at my first try using all his effort to move away from me.“No! Don’t do this to me!” he shouted but as the sun’s rays started pouring over his body more and more he started disappearing and growing lighter in color as would happen to a shadow.“I need to do this Ephialtes, you have tortured many innocent people and I only hope that next time you wouldn’t walk on the wrong path,” I said this as I started slashing at whatever black misty body part I got making his body disappear and grow smaller and smaller. It was surreal to watch Ephialtes have nowhere to go as he started circling around me trying to continue to build himself up but the sunlight was making it impossible for him. His white pale eyes that usually stood out in its ghastliness didn’t seem as scary as they depicted his fright.“No, I remember now, this- this is how I was put to sleep all those years ago and now again,” he let out a groan as Cain and Dev

*ASA TRINE* His raspy voice almost instantly made all the hair in my body stand up and looking at his soulless eyes I wondered if he could see through my façade. The air had significantly dropped down around me and if Ephialtes had not been present here I would have been much intrigued to observe such a sudden change in my surroundings “Why? Aren’t you going to say something to me this time?” he asked swishing slightly to the left and the right making me flit my eyes to make sure that he hadn’t been able to sneak up an attack on me. “I don’t want to waste my time talking to you, let’s get on with the fighting,” I said hoping that reverse psychology would work on him as well as I noticed him pause and stare at me while I forced my face to stay impassive. “I don’t like that look in your eyes,” he gnawed out his words narrowing his pathetic pearls to look at me as he continued, “I quite like it more when they had been shut closed scared to even face me.” I wanted to look up at the
