Chp 5 Pt. 3 Aspen’s Sorrow

It’s been three months since I left Maliyah. She never did say when the attack would happen and I haven’t been able to bring myself to leave my mother’s side. I feared if I left the attack would happen and I wouldn’t get back in time to save my mother. Davina is four months into her pregnancy with about two months to go. My mother is due any day now, though I am sure she has been in labor for the past six hours.

“Mother, are you sure you are alright. You have been having these pains since last night.”

“Actually son, I am sure I am in labor.”

My mother is concentrating on her breathing as she paces the room while rubbing her hand along her belly. I knew it. Soon I’ll get to meet my little sister, Ada.

“I’ll get our healer to prepare for the birth.”
