I have always taught my daughters violence isn’t the answer. I never would have expected Maliyah to get into a fight at school. I understand her wanting to stick up for those that are weaker against bullies but using her powers is unacceptable. We just got her back. I watch as Maliyah storms out of the house. Derek stops me from going after her while he mind links Aspen, I assume.

“Aspen will follow her. You two need to calm down.”

“Derek we just got her back after being in a coma from using her powers.”

“You can’t stop her from using them. It’s a part of who she is and she’s trying to find her place in this world that doesn’t have her sister in it. You both are.”

I hate when he is right and I hate admitting I’m wrong. I sigh as we watch her head straight for the barn. I know it’s her one happy place.
