Davina
I sigh, watching Maliyah ride off with Aspen and Ada. She has been more confrontational lately and now getting into fights at school. I can remember when I was carrying Maliyah and her sister. I was so frightened of the world I would be raising them in but still had envisioned such a happy life for us. Even if it remained only us, we were happy. I sometimes feel guilty over these thoughts. I love Derek fiercely and the children we’ve had together, I’ll never regret having them in our lives. I just miss the simply life and running the restaurant at times.
“What’s got you thinking so hard darling?”
I look up and see my uncle Gabriel. He pulls me into an embrace, always knowing what I need in the moment.
“I don’t regret having any of my children or being with Derek, but I miss our simply life in the restaurant at
DavinaI wake extra early to ensure everything is taken care of while we are gone. I am sitting on our back porch having some coffee and reflecting. I can’t believe almost five years ago I was just living my life as a normal human, running my family’s restaurant and raising my daughters. I was completely oblivious to the fact that all my employees were werewolves and that my uncle is a warlock. Life was simple and easy back then. There are times I miss it but I wouldn’t have the twins or Aiden had my life not been changed when meeting Derek.I often wonder would Alastor still have found me if I never met Derek, though I know the answer. The seal would’ve only suppressed my powers for so long. I would have eventually learned about this world sooner or later. I tend to rub my left leg from time to time. It seems weird having my leg back after believing I would be wearing a prosthetic t
DavinaAs soon as we arrive in France, Luna Camille greets us. She looks exhausted as if she hasn’t slept in days.“Camille, please give me the authority to act as Alpha while I am here. I will take a look at your borders and ensure your warriors are ready.”“You have my permission. I have mind linked the pack that you are standing in as Alpha until Andre returns.”She visibly seems to relax, happy to have an Alpha here to help her. I look at her stomach as she runs her hand over it. I didn’t realize she is pregnant.“Camille, where is your pack doctor. All this stress must not be good for the baby.”“I haven’t even had the chance to tell Andre we are expecting. We’ve been trying for so long.”Luna Camille breaks down in tears. Maliyah and I help her inside and find her doctor to give her a check up. Thankfully the
DavinaLuna Camille has not been feeling well. I’ve been nervous to teleport her in her condition and her flock won’t leave without her so we’ve been stuck here for two days. Today is the first time Camille has gotten out of bed to eat. That is more that we had hoped. Losing your mate often kills you but we think the fact that she is pregnant is what is keeping her moving.“How is she today,” Derek mind links me.“She’s up, out of bed and eating.”“That’s good love. We need to move as soon as possible.”“Why? What’s wrong?”“There has been an increase in humans disappearing around these parts. I’m concerned they will attack again.”Derek is right. The longer we stay here the more likely they will find out we are here and attack. I send for the pack doctor to check over Camille again. I need her to be stronger so we can get out of here
DavinaDerek rushes outside immediately to aid in the attack. I am glad we’ve been preparing for one, our warriors and the flock warriors have quickly become in sync with one another. I need to ensure uncle has everything he needs before I aid my daughter.“Are you sure we are going to lose them both,” asks Beta Henri.“Yes Beta. The loss is too much for our Luna,” Dr. Clement replies.“My uncle assures me this will work, we just need a willing female to be the surrogate,” I explain.“My mate has already agreed to be the surrogate. We don’t have any pups yet. The young Alpha will be well loved and we will ensure he is prepared to take over the flock when he comes of age,” Beta Henri replies.I hear Terra roar from the skies again as the battle outside ensues.“Uncle, how quickly can you get this done? We need to get out o
Maliyah After mom took over fighting against her brother, Terra and I land to rest our wings and let our leg heal. We easily take out rogues that rush to attack us as we land. I even turn some of them into ice statutes before smashing them with my tail. This battle seems to drag on forever. I need to put a stop to it and I know one way that would be immediate and simultaneously put everyone down at the same time. “Maliyah, this is a bad idea. We could hurt ourselves or worse.” “Do you have a better idea Terra?” Terra is silent, she knows we can end this now but hopefully not at the cost of our own lives. Aspen is far enough away from me that I can circle a tornado around me. I can feel my powers flowing through me as the wind picks up. Lightning cracks across the sky as I prepare to use that to keep everyone away from me so they can’t stop me. “Maliyah don’t!” I can hear Aspen as I see him strike his sword to the ground so he doesn’t blow away. I haven’t used three powers at once
DavinaThe next day, Derek and I seem busier than ever. We now have our pack, the coven, the pride and the flock all residing on Palmetto territory. I popped over to the dragon realm to retrieve some earth dragons to help be put up some homes quickly for our new guests as well as a new office building to give all the leaders their own office on pack grounds and a bigger conference room for the council I created to meet. Aspen offered the cottage to interim Alpha Henri and his mate Sarah so they would have their own space and he took a spare room close to Maliyah. He’s up there all night anyway, wanting to ensure her safety.Maliyah also woke up this morning and other than feeling a little weak she is fine. My sister and I are going to have to train her more often so she doesn’t easily tire out from using her powers. The more she uses them, the stronger she will become. However, I don’t like her using th
Aspen“Aspen, Maliyah is awake.”I rush upstairs of the pack house and I let out a breath of relief to see her up and smiling. I know I promised her she would be fine but I was concerned I would be wrong.“I’m fine Aspen.”“Good to know kiddo,” I reply with a smile.“What’s wrong Aspen? Your smile doesn’t hide your emotions well.”“I am leaving for home to get her warriors and then I’ll be heading to the bear pack today. We are sure they are the next target.”“I’ll come with you.”“Absolutely not. You need to rest. We are more prepared this time. Your aunt, Kat, and wolf warriors are coming as well to assist. This time we will be ready for an attack.”Just as she is about to argue, the twins come rushing in and jump onto Maliyah’s bed. They are laughing a
MaliyahI didn’t get a chance to say goodbye to Aspen and I know he snuck off on purpose while I was distracted with the twins.“Liyah, Liyah! You’re awake,” screams Accalia.“Yes, Accalia I’m awake,” I giggle back at her.“Can you play with us now,” begs Thierry.“Can I join you?”I look up and find Amara, the younger sister to Ghalen.“Of course, the more the merrier,” I reply. “Just let me shower and get dressed and I’ll meet you guys downstairs, okay?”“Okay sissy. Hurry, hurry.”I laugh at my little sister’s impatience as I head to my bathroom. I turn on the hot water and let it cascade down my back, relaxing my muscles.“Terra, I feel stronger. Like a part of me that has been in slumber is awake.”“I feel it too. I think we
Maliyah“Maliyah, the guests are arriving!”“Coming mom!”I quickly finish doing my hair in a half up pony tail style and curl it before doing my make up. I can’t believe it’s been almost five years since the war ended and here we are, celebrating my sixteenth birthday. I stop by my nightstand with my sister’s picture and use my powers to make the flowers in the vase bloom again.“Happy birthday sis,” I whisper as I head for the door.I throw on my Ariat boots, hoping towards the door as I put on one at a time. I almost collide with my door trying to put on my last boot as I grab the handle to open the door only to end up running into Aspen. I nearly fall backwards onto the floor, but Aspen reaches out and catches my arm to steady me.
DavinaI wake with a start that it startles Derek. Sweat is dripping down my face as Derek gently cups my face.“What’s wrong love,” he says looking around the room for an intruder.“I got to say goodbye to Malayah,” I whisper. He looks at me confused.“Okay, but what has you so scared?”I turn to Derek, making sure he is listening carefully. Worry is evident on his face as I take deep breaths to calm my racing heart. I need someone else to know what she told me.“Malayah said, ‘Beware of the new comer, darkness will come for her’.”“What does that even mean?”“I don’t know. I don’t even know exactly who she was talking about, but I think it’s Maliyah. I think she was talking about Maliyah and whoever Maliyah saw in t
DavinaThe twins have fallen asleep, Thierry on Derek, Accalia on Calista and Aiden in my arms. Everyone begins going home and we had back into the pack house. We lay the kids down for bed as does Mark and Daniela. It’s nice to see the children together, safe and sound and back to what was once normal. Things may not go back to what they were but we can find a new normal for our family. The last thing I do is prepare a room for my mother with the help of Kat and Daniela. We put her next to Calista as they seem to have hit it off and have become fast friends. I am over the moon that I get to have this opportunity to get to know my mother and learn more about my family. There is so much I don’t know. With mom back in the picture, it seems to have changed things for Kat. Now that Kat has been spending time with our mother and her granddaughter
DavinaWhen we all heard Derek and Maliyah playing I immediately mind link the whole pack to meet at the memorial. Our family gathered at it’s entrance, tears forming in our eyes. I haven’t heard her play in a long time. As pack members began arriving I open the back doors so they can hear too and started passing out candles and lighting them. Once everyone has a candle, I teleport Maliyah and Derek next to the memorial and they don’t miss a note. Families begin stepping up to the memorial and placing beautiful flower arrangements at the base.Dimitri utters a spell under his breath and tells me the flowers will never die, they will remain frozen in time. Celestia and Calista help pass out the Chinese sky lanterns and pens so everyone can write a message or just the name of a loved one that has been lost. I make one for my uncle Gabriel and parents that raised me as they now have no one le
MaliyahI can’t believe what I woke up to. Dr. Smith has been examining me and taking MRI’s of my brain. I am still in shock at everything I am being told. Mom and dad tell me everything I appear to be forgetting. We take several breaks as I am constantly crying over things I have forgotten.I remember some of the information they are telling me but not all of it. After a while I did start to remember the day my sister died but it still doesn’t feel real. I don’t remember being in a coma before and waking up to having another little brother. Uncle Kale died as well as uncle Gabriel and I haven’t been able to accept that yet.Uncle Gabriel has been around all my life, even before I learned what I was. I never imagined I would have to live my life without him.“Ma
DavinaWe’ve been in the dragon realm for the past week; going back and forth to the forbidden realm to explore it more. We want to ensure we had all he details, which Dimitri has written down so we won’t ever forget this day we now call The Day of Retaliation. It’ll always be a day we will mourn as many loved ones were lost that day, but we fought back against my brother and won. I wish there would’ve been another way, but my brother was too far gone. Once we were sure we didn’t miss anything, Dimitri and his coven sealed the realm away forever. The shifter counsel all agreed that it will be against our laws to step foot into that realm so it was best to seal it away to stop temptation. The horse shifters have been learning about the human world as it has changed a lot than from what their ancestors had told them. Technology is a new thing for them and they will remain on bear
DavinaIt’s finally over. It’s been six years since Derek came into my life and my world was turned upside down. Six years after finding out I was not at all human. My heart mourns for those that I have lost in all that time. The parents that raised me, my uncle Gabriel, Thierry who was like a second uncle to me and my biological parents though I didn’t even know it yet.My heart hurts for my sister. She has been an empty shell since we killed Alastor. She remains at Kale’s side though his soul is no longer attached to his body. He’s gone and there is nothing I can really do to comfort her.“Mom, let’s get you something to eat and drink. Please,” begs River but Kat doesn’t respond. She continues to stare at his body and grasp his hand. I think
Davina The minute Maliyah became unconscious her swirl of power dissipated. I drop the sphere of wind and see the zombie creatures are dropping one by one. I rush to Maliyah’s side in a panic with Kat right at my heals. “Maliyah!” Her head is bleeding badly and she is not responding at all. I quickly teleport her to Dr. Smith. “What happened,” asks Dr. Smith. “She hit her head on a rock and I am afraid she used more power than she can handle.” Kat pulls me away from Maliyah to give Dr. Smith room to work and I reluctantly back away. “Davina!” I look up and see Mark and Derek running into the tent. I can feel he is just as scared as I am right now. “Thank Ryuu you are okay. What happened to Maliyah?”
Davina “Maliyah we need you,” I yell through the mind link. Kat and I are trying to finish this once and for all but we both know we won’t win without Maliyah. Alastor creates a sphere of wind around him, pushing Kat and I off of him. I quickly search the field for Maliyah and instantly see what she is doing. Her vision of Derek and Mark dying, it’s happening. “We need Maliyah,” says Kat through the link. “She is needed else where right now. We need to keep him distracted long enough for her to accomplish what is needed and return to us,” I reply. Kat doesn’t question what I mean. We trust each other completely and I know we can hold him off until Maliyah comes back. “You two are a thorn in my side. It’s time for me to be an only child,” growls out Alastor. I know we a
