Chapter 5

They get to the house, after wheeling Michael inside Evelyn goes to her room.

Michael calls Daniel his P.A to his room, “Tell the main house that I am coming to visit with my wife tomorrow, everyone should be present. 

“Ok boss, I am going to inform them, do you want the second arm of the family to present akso.”

“Did I mention anything about inviting them?” Michael asks angrily.

“No you did not, I am sorry for jumping into assumption boss. I will leave for the main house now.” Daniel leaves the room hastily

The second arm of the family consists of his uncle and his family, they are in charge of the entertainment industry and restaurants. They never get along due to the fact that they want to be the main house so they have been sabotaging Michael’s business but they do not know how much of a genius he is. So he really detests them. He suspects that his uncle is the cause of his father’s death but does not do anything because of his grandmother.

Meanwhile in Evelyn’s room, she is doing some research on the Andrews family, she notices that the actions of Michael’s uncle contradicts his business. From there she can see that they are probably not in good terms.

“I should be careful of them.” Evelyn thinks to herself.

She continues to research on the family, Michael’s father the first son of the family died in an accident when he was just 15 years old. Since then, the burden of the whole family has been on Michael’s shoulder. His uncle must be angry to know that instead of him taking over the family, the succession was passed to his brother’s teenage son. “That must be why they are not in good terms.” She thinks to herself.

She continues looking, she sees Michael’s grandmother, the matriarch of the Andrews family. She built the family with her husband from the scratch. Even after her husband died, she still rules the Andrews family with an iron fist; she also sees that the grandmother was the one who raised Michael. “They must be close to each other then.” She reasons. From what she sees she cannot determine or foresee how the matriarch will act towards her.

She sees Michael’s mother, a beautiful woman that does not look like her age. She was also from a rich family. After her husband died she never wanted her then teenage eldest son to be burdened with the whole family affairs but the grandmother pressured her. She definitely loves her son.

She also looks at the profile of Michael’s brother, Shawn. He works as a director in the family’s company. He is 5 years younger than his brother. Unlike his elder brother, he has a very care free attitude and an outgoing personality. He is the definitely the funny one in the family. Despite this, he is also known to be very intelligent and more emotionally intelligent than his brother. He loves and respects his brother. 

She sees the Michael’s younger sister; she is the most loved and spoiled of everyone of them. Even Michael with his cold heart dotes and spoils her a lot. But unlike how pampered she is, she does not look or act like a brat. She is the director of the Andrews family’s gallery and she has been doing a good job with it. She is married to her sweetheart who is surprisingly from an ordinary family, but the Andrews family accepts him.

She closes the file and mentally prepares herself for the meeting, the next day.

She notices that it was already evening time, a maid soon comes to call her for dinner, she goes to the dining table to see that her husband was already there waiting for her. She sits down and her husband starts eating, Evelyn does not also say anything and digs in also. After eating, she stands up to go her room.

She hears Michael’s voice, “Don’t forget about the meeting tomorrow and wake up early.”

“Don’t worry; I will definitely wake up early. Good night.”

She goes to her room and looks for a nice cloth to prepare for the next day. “I should get new clothes, these clothes do not look nice” She says to herself. She goes to sleep and quickly drifts to sleep

The next morning, she wakes up very early and goes to freshen up. After all, she wears a formal gown and leaves her down, she also does a little bit of make up. She goes out to see her husband in the living room.

“Good morning, how are you always here before me?” She asks him jokingly.

“Good morning, that is because you are always late.” He says with a straight face.

Evelyn clears her throat embarrassed, “Have you eaten this morning.” She asks him.

“No I have not, we should not to eat this morning, you will still have to eat at the main house. My mother loves cooking so she would want you to eat a lot. He answers

“Oh, that is true. When are we leaving then?” She asks the man.

“We are going to leave in the 30 minutes, you can stay here till then.” He says and continues working on his tablet.

“Ok?” Evelyn wonders why the man wants her to stay with him in the living room. “Is he alreafy having feelings for me?” She quickly shakes the thoughts out of her. “Is this a romance novel, he must just not want the stress of coming to inform me when they are ready.” She clears all the thoughts and patiently waits.

Meanwhile, Michael is thinking of the same thing, “Why did I tell her to wait here. Is it because I want her to be always near me. No it must be because I don’t want to get stressed by having to infoem her that we were ready to leave. 

After waiting for 30 minutes, Daniel Michael’s P.A comes to inform them that they are ready to leave. Evelyn wheels her husband to the car and enters the car with him.

The drive to the main house was very long, the drive went on without any of them saying anything.

They get to the main house and Evelyn marvels at the size and architecture of the house. It was more like a castle than a house. After getting to the entrance of the house the cars stop and Evelyn gets down, she waits for her husband to get down and wheels him into the house.

Entering the house, she sees the harmonious family talking together, they stop talking as they see both of them enter the house. 

“Good morning” Evelyn greets the family. Nobody answers and Evelyn thinks, “They must hate and look down on me, Typical of them.”

“Come and sit down here, my dear.” The Andrews grandmother surprisingly says.

She stands there surprised until Michael nudges her to go and see down beside the old woman. She goes to sit down. 

“You are welcome to our family, Evelyn.” Michael’s mother greets her.

“Thank you Mother.” Michael’s mother and grandmother nods approvingly

“Hello sister in law, I am Sophie. You are so pretty. “Michael’s sister says smiling. “By this is my husband, Lance.” She points at the man beside her. The man greets her “It is nice to meet you sister in law.” She greets them also, “Nice to meet you, Sophie and Lance.”

“Good morning sister in law.” She hears Michael’s younger brother, Shawn greet her. They look very alike. “Hello Shawn, It is nice to meet you.”

“How do you know his name?” Michael asks in whispers. “Well I did my research” She answers

“I heard that your younger sister ran away to avoid this marriage.” Michael’s mother asks in anger. “So have they found her?”

“Um…. I don’t think they’ve seen her, they did not carry me along with their plans.” Evelyn asks.

“It is better how she did not get married to our family, we don’t need such a superficial person.” Michael’s grandmother says angrily.

“From now on, you are our family, you must not allow anyone to bully you.” Michael’s mother says while grandmother nods.

“Thank you very much” Evelyn thanks them’

“You don’t thank your family. It is our duty. So let us start eating.” They start eating but unlike wealthy families with strict eating etiquettes, this family just talks during the meal time. “Well this is very different from what I was expecting” Evelyn thinks.

After eating, grandmother calls Michael to talk separately while Evelyn converses with the rest of the family like they have known each other forever.

About an hour later, Michael comes out and they prepare to leave. Before leaving, the family gives Evelyn several gifts that she gratefully accepts. 

After bidding farewell to the family, they both leave the main house.
