Chapter 10

The driver drives Evelyn to the residence, during the drive Evelyn continues think about her family. She knows that her father does not care about her. Before her mother died, her father was angry because Evelyn’s mother is a very intelligent woman and very versed in business so he had no excuse to get the company from her mother. He felt that Evelyn’s mother was a proud woman who looked down on him because she was from a rich family.

Due to the fact that his ego was bruised because his wife was a more powerful figure than he is, he went back to the succor of his ex girlfriend that he abandoned to marry a rich woman. Her mother’s family was so angry that she chose an ordinary, unknown man that they disowned her after giving her the dowry of her marriage.

She does not know about her maternal family because her mother never talks about her family. She does not know whether her mother was angry at her family or whether it was just because her family brought bad memories for her or she was just sorry for them. Anyhow Evelyn does not desire to meet her maternal family, she believes that her mother’s family contributed to her death because they were not there for her.

Thinking of these things, her mood becomes melancholy and gloomy. She soon reaches her house and all the servants greet her as she comes down of car. She notes how different the attitude the servants of this residence and that of her ‘home’ is. She enters and goes into her room.

In a bad mood, she calls Grey. 

“Hello Evelyn, to what do I owe this honor of you calling” He says teasingly

“I need you to help me to look for my step sister as soon as possible.” Evelyn says straight to the point.

“Ok? Are you ok Eve? You sold like you are in a bad mood.” Grey says carefully afraid to offend the well known temperamental lady. Evelyn is famously known in their agency to be bad tempered and the person on receiving end always ends in a bad position.

“I am fine.” Evelyn gritting her teeth. “I would have it myself but I am busy so I need your help. Help me look for her no matter where she is hiding. Can you do that?”

“Yes, of course. I will help you. I wanted to call you before you did, I heard that the higher ups wants to give you a mission. If they do, your husband might notice. I don’t think they are only thinking of computer work this time.” Grey tells her

“That is not going to work, I was promised that I won’t have to do any field work. Well at any rate, I will talk to them later. Just help me to find her, do you understand? 

“Yes I understand, I will make sure I find her no matter where she is hiding.” Grey promises

“By the way, tell Brian that I will need his medical skills soon, there is someone that I want him to help.”

“Is it your husband, is he really disfigured?”

“He was poisoned, I am not sure about his legs though. Just tell him to prepare himself.” Evelyn says with a tone of finality.

“Ok, No problem. I will start with your work now.”

“Thank you for your help. Goodbye.”

In Michael’s office, he has just finished a meeting with his staff. He is currently with his P.A only, Daniel stands waiting for him to give his instructions.

“Boss, for how long will you continue to pretend that you are still a cripple. Your uncle has been rallying people around that you are medically unfit to take over the Andrews family and some people have started agreeing with him.” Daniel says with a straight face but with a hint of worry on his face.

Michael looks at him. “For exactly that reason, my uncle is a very impatient man, he wants to take over as soon as possible. He does not understand that I am unshakeable. Revealing that I am ok will disrupt my uncle’s plan, let us wait till he is done with plan and give him a blow he will not easily recover from.” Michael says coldly with a hint of hatred.

“I will obey your commands boss.” Daniel says obediently

Michael returns to his former demeanor, “How about my wife, have you investigated more on her.”

“Yes, I have investigated more. The thing is that it looks like all her activities when she was in London was cleaned up. Her lifestyle was too good to be true for someone that was abandoned by her family so looked more into it and I saw this picture.” He said and placed a picture on Michael’s table, he picks up and sees that it was Evelyn and a man in the background that he does not recognize.

“What about the picture?” He asks looking at it.

“As you can see Boss, in her second year in London she took this picture. The man in the background is Kingston, a very highly profiled agent. He is one of the well known agent of the government and from our investigations we found out that Miss Evelyn is definitely in contact with him and knows him well. But their relationship and how they know each other is not yet known.” He tells the man

The man continues to look at the picture, “As I expected, she is not someone to be trifled with. It might be true that she is an ordinary pardon that just coincidentally knows him but from what I have noticed she is actually the opposite. Stop looking into her for a while, she told me that she will tell me everything soon, let us hold on for a little while.” The man says dropping the picture.

“Ok boss” Daniel answers taking the picture,

“Leave the picture here” The man commands and Daniel hurriedly drops the picture. “By the way, have you still found about hacker K?” He asks in a serious mood.

“As you expected, he is very hard to find. Many of the agents we found have not even seen her before. So it is very hard to know her. It is said that he does not go into field work at all, that she is only a hacker for the agency.”

“Continue looking for him, I will need him son.” He says with a tone of finality.

“OK, boss. I will assign more people to it. By the way boss, we have seen Brian, he is however unshaken in his resolution not to involve himself with influential not matter how much money we gave him.”

“Really, is that what he said.” He says in a low voice.

“Yes boss, from what I heard. Only one person is able to convince him, but we don’t know who this person is. We are trying to know the person so we convince them to put in a good word for us.”

“Don’t worry about Brian anymore. Evelyn said that she knows someone that can remove the poison, I will just ask her instead.”

“But Boss, it is almost impossible that she knows someone like that. This poison is very hard to cure.” Daniel says doubtfully.

“I will give her person a try; she recognized that it was a poison so I think she knows what poison it is and how to cure it. That is final.” He says in a tone that allows no question. “Continue looking into the activities of my uncle and inform me if he starts to go into action.”

“OK boss.” Daniel bows and leaves the office.

Michael takes the picture and looks at it with a thoughtful gaze, “I wonder when you wll tell me your secrets and I also wonder what your secrets are, no matter how innocent you might seem, sometimes you forget to hide the ruthless glint in your eyes. “ Michael says in a low voice.

Meanwhile in the Andrew’s residence, Evelyn has been working for a while, she was assigned to a project by her boss and has been busy with it since. Whenever Evelyn was engrossed in her work, she forgets everything not even standing to use the toilet or eat. Because she is extremely fast and good, she normally finishes what others may use one week for in two days or less. This particular work given to her is very easy for her, so she soon finished it.

After finishing her work, she stands up and stretches, she looks outside to see that it was almost dark and looks at her phone for the time to see that time has gone. She knows that Michael will soon be home so she quickly goes to take a shower and freshen up. She has been thinking about whether she should tell her husband about her work, since he is bound to find out in the long run. She tells herself that she will tell him later when they are little bit closer.

Once she freshens up, she quickly goes outside to see the servants especially the kitchen servants busy with work, she walks to the kitchen and enter it. The head chef sees and quickly salutes her.

“Hello Madam, you don’t need to come here. We can do everything on our own.” The head chef says trying to convince Evelyn to leave.

“I understand, I just want to make something little for my husband. I am thinking of quickly making a dessert preferably a pudding. Don’t worry I will not disturb you.” Evelyn tells the chef.

The head chef wants to convince her otherwise but he later decides against it and tells two maids to assist her with it. Evelyn did not reject the help of the two maids and starts with it, when she was in London, before she met Kingston, she would eat pudding almost every day as her father did not care about her enough to send her enough money. She started making the pudding herself using different means to make it more delicious.

She soon finish making the pudding and soon after she hears her husband come in. As usual, she sees his P.A wheeling him in.

“Welcome Husband. How was work?”She says smiling

“Work was fine. How was your visit to your parent’s house?” He asks her.

“It was Ok. Dinner is ready so quickly freshen up and come to eat.” Michael nods and his P.A wheels him into his room and comes out soon after, he salutes her and leaves. A while later, he comes out changed and goes to the dining table.

Evelyn signals that they should bring the food out and the maids bring the food out. They start eating and soon it got to the dessert, Michael eats the pudding and nods in approval, he has not eaten something as delicious as this in a long time.

“How is it, I made it myself.” Evelyn says looking anxiously at him for a commendation.

“It is very good. Well done.” Evelyn smiles and tell continue eating. They finish eating and goes to the living room as the servant clears the plate.

“You said you know someone that can help with the poison. Do you mind introducing me?” Michael asks looking at her. Evelyn is surprised to hear that the man asked for her.

“Don’t worry about contacting him, I will do it myself. I will tell you about when he is coming.” Evelyn tells the man. 

“Ok, Thank you very much” Michael says in appreciation.

A while later, they both say their goodnights and enter their respective rooms.
