Chapter 3

Inside the car, Evelyn tries to talk to the man but his dark face makes him so unapproachable so she keeps quiet and rests in the seat .

Some moments later, the man turns to see the woman looking so carefree.

“Who are you? Where is my bride?” He asks coldly to the woman.

“Well as you can see, um……she is not exactly here.”

“Am I blind, I can see that she is not here? The question is where she is?"

“So funny story, we got her ready this morning, did her makeup and everything but ww went to call her to come she disappeared, she said you were too ugly for her. So she ran away, and I was made to take her place. I did not want but my mother’s company is basically in the palm of the man, so I hope you won’t get too angry with me.” She says flippantly like she was not the one that just got married.

“Also I hope that you won’t throw me out of your car and house.”

The man’s face becomes darker but he looks at his new wife face, which was looking at him intensely.

“Why are you looking at me like that? Do you want to see how ugly I am?” He says coldly to Evelyn

“I kind of want to see how you look like. Don’t worry I don’t get startled easily.” She reaches out to touch his mask but he grabs her hand and flings it away.

“Why did you throw my hand away?” Evelyn asks aggrievedly

“You know that here is someone that can cure you that I know. Both your face and your leg, I can assure you that he can do it all.” She says enthusiastically

Michael just looks at the woman and shakes his head and looks away. Evelyn looks at the man and smiles.

“So he is just a big softie.” She thinks smiling

“You should stop looking at me. You are making me feel uncomfortable” Evelyn just smiles and looks away.

After feeling like eternity, Evelyn is excited to see that they are already at home. She looks at the mansion with approval and almost whistles at how big it is. She sees the P.A getting out to bring out his wheelchair.

Sitting on the wheelchair, he signals to his P.A to push him but Evelyn stops the P.A signaling that she wants to push it so he leaves it to her after getting permission from his boss who nods in reply.

She pushes him inside the house and sees the rows of servant waiting for her to arrive.

“Welcome Madam.” They all bow to greet her

“Thank you very much for coming out to greet him.” Evelyn says smiling at them

“You don’t need to thank us ma. It is our duty to make sure you feel welcomed.”

“Well, thank you for making me feel welcomed then.” Evelyn then wheels Michael in.

“Where is your room?” She asks looking at the man.

The man tells her the room which was unsurprised on the ground floor so she wheels him but the room looks so empty, it looks like no one lives in the room but she does not say anything.

“I did not expect that rumored shy and useless first miss of the Hawkins family is someone like you. You go beyond my expectations.” Michael says staring at her intently.

“Well, thank you for the compliment. You need to do certain things to survive in a family like mine. Lie very desperate things.” She responds to him.

Michael just continues looking at her.

“So I don’t think we should have our wedding night due to your state, so where is my room?” She asks looking around.

“Why should you have your own separate room, are we not married?” Michael asks teasingly

Evelyn’s face becomes very red. “Umm……..I don’t think you can control yourself at all if I stay in the same room with you. Or does that part not also work well at all?”She asks looking down at his pants.

He clears his throat, “You can take the room next to mine.”

Evelyn shakes her head at the pitiful man. 

“Well, that friend of mine can also help you with that also. You should just tell me the time that you need him to come.”

“About this friend of yours, don’t you think that he sounds like a scammer.”

“He is not a scammer, don’t worry. He’s really that good.”

Michael just nods his head and goes near his bed. 

“Do you want me to help you to get on the bed?” Evelyn asks worried

“Don’t worry about that, I have to do some work before going to sleep.” He replies her

“Ok, then goodnight. Don’t stay up for too late. She says and leaves

Michael Andrews looks at the departing woman. He thinks, “Evelyn Hawkins, she is definitely not what I expect. There is more to her than meet the eyes.”

He calls his P.A inside. “What do you need me to do, Boss.”

“I want you to investigate my new wife, I want to know everything about her.” He says , as a dark intent flash through his eyes.

“Something is definitely strange about her.”

“Ok boss.” He says and leaves. Michael contemplates, “I have not seen anyone I have not been able to read before at the first glance, so why am I unable to read her.”

Meanwhile, Evelyn gets to the room. She looks around and is impressed at how spacious the room is.

She takes out her phone to dial a number. She hears a gruff voice.

“So you got married after all. How did you know that your useless was going to do that?” 

“Let me just say that I know her too well. How is everything going over there Grey?” She asks

“Well, actually more peaceful, nobody is disturbing.”

“Well that is nice; I hope you get more work done unlike the usual.” She says and hangs up.

She looks around her and says, “Let us hope I also get more work done over here.”

She opens her bags to see that it was only Ayla’s clothes that were inside the bag. She goes outside to meet outside to ask for clothes but before getting there, she sees Michael stoic P.A walking towards her with a some sets of clothes.

He greets her, “Master told me to give you this sets of clothes, Madam. I hope it is to your liking.” He says and leaves her.

She looks at the clothes and goes back to her room to see the dresses. She sees a pajamas set among the clothes, “Well he certainly has an eye for these things, But I don’t think he is the one who gets them anyway. Well, it is still nice.” She says

She goes to freshen up, and then she changes into her pajamas and goes to sleep.

The next morning, she wakes up and sees that everywhere was already bright.

“Well that is strange, how did I sleep so deeply. Maybe I was tired from the ceremony yesterday.” She thinks

“To think of it, is he going to the office today or is he also on his honeymoon.” She giggles while thinking.

She stands up to freshen up and get ready. 

Then she goes to the dining room to eat. To her surprise, she sees her new husband sitting there looing busy on his tablet.

“Good morning. I did not know that you would still at home.”

“Well, there is something called honeymoon. I mean I got married yesterday. So, I am working from home for the next week.”

“Ok, By the way I hope you have eaten.”

“Well no, I am waiting for my wife to wake up so we can eat together. If you don’t mind of course.” Michael says looking at her.

“There is no problem, you should have woken me up early so I don’t delay you.”

He just looks at her and calls the chef. Chef starts bringing out several mouth watering dishes.

Evelyn gulps at the site of food and after setting she hurriedly digs in. Michael just shakes his head, “You should not rush your food, you should eat patiently.” He thinks. “I will some time to get adjusted to this wife of mine”.

Evelyn suddenly remembers something, “By the way, are we not going to greet your family or something.”

“Well, my grandma called this morning; I informed her we would come tomorrow since you were so tired and that you were still sleeping.”

“Why would you tell all those things, I must be looking very lazy in her eyes right now.” She says grumbling

“Well, I can assure you that she was thinking about another thing, you don’t have to worry about being called lazy or anything.” He says with a straight fine.

Understanding what he means, she chokes on her food. He passes her some water by this time her face was so red.

“How can you say such things with such a straight face” She accuses him. He shrugs and continues eating.

“By the way, I need a favor from you. I need to take my things from my former house, will you accompany me. I don’t want them to starting me too much questions.” Evelyn asks looking at him pleadingly.

“Ok, I will follow you.” 

“That easy? I was planning to list out points to support my proposal.”

“Well, I don’t need it. We will go in the noon.” He says with finality and wheels himself to his room.

Evelyn continues to eat.
