Chapter Ninety-Nine: I'm Sorry, I'm Late
Samantha's POV “Go, Adrian!” The girls cheered for him. We were sitting on the bench, watching his game. His gaze met mine, and he winked. “I think he really likes you,” Windy said, chuckling. After that annoying meeting in the guidance office, I was about to head home when Adrian stopped me. He was already in his jersey when he showed up, telling me he had a game tonight and asked me to come watch. I was about to decline, as I really just wanted to go home, but he kept insisting. So here I am, with my cousins and Windy, watching his game. He pointed at me, mouthing, “For you,” before sinking a three-point shot. Windy, Jane, and Anna screamed along with the other students as the ball swished through the hoop. “Go, Adrian! Go, Adrian!” The cheerleaders kept shouting. I chuckled at how silly he was being. “Damn, you just laughed,” Anna said, and the three of them stared atChapter One Hundred: It Wasn't A Dream Samantha's POV I woke up to find myself in my room. As I sat up, the events of last night rushed back to me. “Nita!” I called out, my voice shaky. She hurried into my room. “Jesus, you're okay,” she said, her voice full of worry as she held my hand. “What happened to you last night? Diego brought you home, and he was bleeding.” So it wasn’t a dream. “Where is he, Nita?” I asked anxiously. She sighed. “He left after bringing you to your room,” she told me. “Wait here, I’ll get your breakfast. You still need to go to school,” she added before leaving. He was bleeding last night. Is he okay? Did he go to the hospital? How did he know where I was? I hurried to the shower, washing off the lingering fear from last night. After getting ready, I put on the red dress we had bought at the mall the other week. I grabbed my sling bag and left the room. “You should eat
Chapter One Hundred-One: Where is She Diego's POV “Why don’t you just tell her?” Jana asked while fixing the bandage on my hand. “What do you think? Does she even believe him?” Harold chimed in. I sighed as Jana finished wrapping the bandage around my arm. “Honey, she would understand if Diego explained everything to her. Samantha seems strong; she would get it,” Jana said to her husband, Harold. “I doubt it. She’s mad at me, and she probably thinks you’re my girlfriend or something,” I said, sitting down beside Harold, my secretary. Harold and Jana had been married for eight years and had kids. Jana would be my acting secretary at the school while Harold managed my company’s paperwork. “By the way, your properties and Jasmine’s assets were divided equally. Your lawyer said everything is settled,” Jana informed me. I nodded. The divorce was done, but my problem now was Samantha. I could tell she was ups
Chapter One Hundred-Two: Am I Dreaming? Samatha's POV I open my eyes and realize I’m in the clinic. “Sam,” Adrian stood up and walked over to me, looking worried. “Are you alright? You just passed out. How are you feeling?” he asked, holding me. But my gaze shifted to the man standing there, staring at me. He stood up. I was about to speak when he walked out of the clinic. He was there, but why didn’t I notice him? “Sam,” Anna, Jane, and Windy rushed inside, looking worried. “Are you okay?” “How are you?” “You didn’t tell me you had a fever.” They all spoke at once, and I couldn’t even understand them. “Guys, relax. Her head will hurt if you keep asking questions. Calm down,” Adrian said. “Who brought me here?” I asked. They exchanged looks. “It was Mr. Presley,” Windy said. I sighed. “Do you want something?” Adrian asked, not waiting for my response. He sto
Chapter One Hundred-Three: Worried Samatha's POV I bit my lower lip, remembering what happened last night. Did he really kiss me back, or was I just dreaming? “What’s wrong with you? Why are you biting your nails?” Nita asked. I stopped what I was doing and pouted. “Why is it that Diego always brings you here unconscious?” she asked curiously. “He looked worried but also angry when he was carrying you last night,” Nita said, looking at me with interest. “I don’t know. He always seems to know where I am. He always shows up when I need help,” I told her. She looked at me. “Are you guys okay now?” she asked while placing cookies on a plate. “We’re not. I mean, I don’t know,” I answered uncertainly. She sighed and gave me my key again. “His assistant gave this to me last night,” she said. I nodded. She was about to say something when her phone rang. She excused herself to answer it. She si
Chapter One Hundred-Four: Problem Samatha's POV I was about to sleep when my phone buzzed. I thought it was Jane or Anna, but I was surprised to see it was Mom calling me. I hurried to answer it. I smiled at the screen, but it faded when I saw their sad faces. “Mom, what is it? What happened? Why do you guys look sad?” I asked worriedly. They looked at the screen while Mom’s face was on the verge of tears. “Tell her, Philip,” Mom said as tears started to fall on her cheeks. I bit my bottom lip while my heart raced. “What is it, Dad? Don’t make me worried,” I told them. Dad looked at me, holding his forehead in frustration. “We’re already bankrupt, baby. We did all we could, but—” Mom began. Dad hugged her. I couldn’t believe it. I covered my face and cried. How could this be happening? “Dad, what about my studies? What about Nita?” I asked. “We’re sorry, baby, but I think we have to fire her now. We couldn’t ev
Chapter One Hundred-Five: Stop Hurting Yourself Samantha's POV “Are you okay?” Adrian asked me. He’s following me while I’m walking through the cafeteria. Jane, Anna, and Windy are actually here now. I don't even know if I should go there right now. I don't have an appetite. It's been two weeks. Mom and Dad haven't gone home. I thought they would come back last month, but they stayed there. I still haven't had any updates on them since the last time they called me. I don't know what's going on now. And about Diego? It's been a week since I've seen him. Maybe he went abroad again to visit Jasmine and her son. That's what he always does when we're still together. He's not telling me about it, but since Jasmine told me about him visiting her son, maybe that's what he always does when we're still together and he's not around at home. I don't even know why, but when he stopped teaching, Ms. Jana also resigned. Some of the st
Chapter One Hundred-Six: Party Samatha's POV I just wore a black dress. "Where are you going?" Nita asked me while I was busy putting on my light makeup. I glanced at her. She looked worried because I was going out tonight. "I'll attend Nita's birthday party, Nita. Don't worry, I'll come back before twelve." I smiled at her, and she sighed. She didn't have any choice but to let me go out. "Twelve, Sam. I'll wait for you in the living room. Please come back before twelve," she said. I stood up and went to her. "Don't worry, Jane and Anna are also attending the party," I told her. She felt relieved when she heard that they would be there too. She nodded and went out of my room while I grabbed my earrings. Moments later, Nita came to my room. "Someone is outside. Who is that? He's not familiar," she asked. She was eyeing Adrian. He had just messaged me that he was coming. "That's Adrian, Nita. He's picking me up." Her forehead knotted. "Adrian? I've never heard that name befo
Chapter One Hundred-Seven: Pathetic Samantha's POV “Have you talked to your parents?” Jane asked me. I shook my head. They haven’t called me. I’m still thinking about what happened last night. I don’t know why he was there. How did he find me when he doesn’t even know that place? Damn it. I touched my lips. I’m mad. Not only because he was there, but I’m also mad because of what he did to me. What’s with that kiss? Why did he do that? “Sam, what’s wrong with you?” Anna asked me. I sighed and looked at them. They have no idea what happened. And about Adrian? I still haven’t seen him. All I know is that they have practice today. “Nothing. Mom and Dad haven’t talked to me,” I told her. I heard Windy sigh. My gaze went to her while she was still busy on her phone. Lately, I’ve been seeing her always on her phone. “Why isn’t Adrian with us?” Jane asked. I was quiet when she said that. Last night, he sent me home. He was quiet, and I didn’t have the strength to say a word. He was
