TIME AND CHANCE HAPPENS TO ALL

Nicholas POV

It was a good day, anything less is void. I collapsed in my mind, staring at the ceiling. My hands are on my chest as I rewind the events that took place today. It seems like a short day, but I enjoyed every little part of it. Avery should be home by now, but I couldn't hear her footsteps or a knock on my door signifying she was around. Should I go down to Hoots place just to find out about what's going on with her? My instincts kept telling me that everything is alright and I should calm down and take a chill pill.

Minutes turned into hours and she was not at home. Shortly, I had the footsteps of someone coming closer to my door. I felt at peace. "What took you so long?" I said as I opened the door.

Disappointment mixed with horror as I saw Nahigra. "What's wrong?" I asked her.

Her face was depleted of tiredness, but mostly confusion. "Nothing." She responded. I know something is not right.

"Where is Avery?" I asked her.
