The Mate Revelation
Kyra's POV “Mate!” The word escaped my lips, raw and undeniable. It echoed in the grand hall, silencing the music and laughter like a stone dropping into a still pond. All eyes turned to me. Davis froze where he knelt before Jessica, his hand poised with the ring. His face, which had moments ago been full of confidence, was now a mixture of shock and disbelief. Jessica’s radiant smile faltered, replaced with a scowl so sharp it could cut glass. My wolf surged within me, fierce and unapologetic. He is ours. Claim him. But as the weight of my declaration sank into the room, the silence morphed into a murmur. Whispers spread like wildfire. Faces blurred together, but their judgmental eyes burned into my skin. “Kyra,” my mother hissed beside me, gripping my arm with a force that sent a jolt of pain through my already fragile body. “Stop this madness!” “I can’t,” I whispered, my voice trembling. My wolf growled in defiance, pushing me forward a step toward Davis. “He’s my mate.” Jessica rose to her feet, her lips curling into a mocking smile. “Your mate?” she scoffed, her voice laced with venom. “You must be mistaken, Kyra. Davis is mine.” Davis’s expression hardened. “Enough, Kyra,” he said, his tone low and filled with warning. “You’re embarrassing yourself.” The words struck like a blow to the chest, knocking the air out of me. My wolf snarled, her rage bubbling to the surface. He is lying. He knows the truth. “I’m not mistaken,” I said, trying to steady my voice. I took another step forward, ignoring the whispers that grew louder around me. “You’re my mate, Davis. You feel it too, don’t you?” His jaw tightened, and he shook his head. “No, Kyra. You’re wrong. I don’t feel anything for you.” Jessica stepped closer to him, sliding her arm possessively through his. “You heard him,” she sneered. “Davis doesn’t want you. Maybe you should take the hint and leave.” Laughter erupted from a nearby group of pack members. My mother’s grip on my arm tightened, her nails digging into my skin. “Let it go, Kyra,” she whispered harshly. “This isn’t the place.” Tears stung my eyes, but I refused to let them fall. I stood rooted in place, I could feel my wolf getting angry at the denial of the bond between us. All of a sudden, Davis turned. " Wait! Is this still about the fall? Do you think I was going to be your mate because you think you took the fall for me?" The room becomes even more tensed. " Don't make me laugh." Nancy said with jest. " We all know Jessica was the hero. I hate when a nobody like you is trying so hard to steal the spotlight." " Davis? please, are you going to deny the bond. I know you can feel it too." I said slowly wriggling out of my mother's strong hold. I walked closer towards Davis, my eyes never leaving his. For once in my life, I wanted his attention and he was killing me, denying our mate bond in the open. " Don't you come any closer to me! Like I said, I will never be yours." Davis scoffed. " Do you think I was going to go so low to marry a woman like you?" He got up and smirked. " Look around you and tell me what you see." I looked around and all I could see where faces of haters and young energetic ladies who wanted Davis attention to begin with. " What are you trying to say, Davis?" The word slipped out of my mouth. " That you are way beneath me!" He shouted and my wolf winced in pain. " Did he just say we are useless to him?" my wolf said in pain. " You can't mean that, Davis. I even.." my hand went up to the bandage and I had it removed. " Wow! Are you this desperate for his attention?" Jessica laughed and looked at Nancy. I removed the bandage and walked closer to Davis. " Will you like to take a look for yourself? I took the fall for you and I am glad that I did. I don't know what game she is playing here but don't you see she is trying to.." I said trying to get closer But I could see the look on Davis face, He wasn't in love with me or should I say he wanted Jessica so badly that he was ready to deny the feeling, the bond we shared. He pushed me down in anger. " This has gone far enough. I never loved you, Kyra and I never will. I don't know why you are so daft to understand this." Hot tears found there ways into my eyes. The tears I had been trying to much to hold, I couldn't take it anymore. The love I felt for Davis slowly becomes my pain. I looked around and all I could see were the smiles and faint whispers of people talking down at me. I looked at Jessica and I could see she had all of this planned. Her family had always wanted power and getting married to Davis was the only way. " Do you think, you can sweet talk him into marrying someone like you?" Nancy laugh echoes through the hall. I looked at Davis parent's, Alpha Derek who sat still motionless on the throne. My eyes darting back to that of my mother who had warned me of the heart breath. But that was not all, I was not going to allow Jessica take wa belong to us. I needed to try harder. Once again, Davis went back to his kneels to propose to Jessica. " Let her show you." The word blurted out of my mouth. " Show me what?" Davis turned in anger. " The mark, she should have one if she had taken the fall for you." I said in annoyance.Kyra's Pov Everyone turned and looked at Jessica. " Are you doubting me?" Jessica looked at Davis. " Don't tell me you believe a word coming out of her filthy mouth!" " No, my love. I will never doubt you. If there is anyone that is delusional here,it is her!" Davis shouted at me again. I felt a sharp pain in my heart. Davis was ignoring all the signs and was sticking with Jessica. " Well, since you don't want to accept that I don't love you and neither do I share a a bond with you, then Yiu are leaving me now choice." The crowd froze again. " What is Davis going to do?" " He can't...is he.." " I am sure he is not doing what I think he wants to do." I kept hearing different thoughts or should I say my wolf was hearing them all. " Is he going to break the bond? Is Davis rejecting us?" My wolf kept asking me questions that I have no answer too. "I..Davis Emilson of the Silver moon pack hereby..." Davis was about to finish the words when I saw my mother ran to his fron
Kyra's pov I wished I was dead. It would have been better to be dead than to be ridiculed by almost the entire pack. My eyes flicked open and I found myseld back in my room. Tears stream down my face again as I tried to stand up. My head, it hurts as I winced in pain. But then I stopped bothering about that. My wolf, I could not hear it voice again. It can't be? " Did I just become wolfless? Oh god!" I said in pain. My mother woke up from her sleep. It was obvious she had been by my bed side all day long. I could see her gaze bore into me. She slowly got up and hugged me. " I am sorry, Kyra." She said with a sad voice. I tried to be brave, not to cry but then I could not hold it anymore. I burst into tears as she patted me on the back. " Do you want us to leave?" my mother looked into my eyes. "You know, we can go anywhere. Just tell me the pack of your chosen." " No, mother. I can't ask you to leave the pack you have know all your life. Were are we going to go?" I sa
" Where are you taking me?" I looked at the guard walking in front of me. " Can you keep quiet? They shouldn't even know you are here." he scolded me. " what are you taking about? Why? My mother works here. She is the matron and I wonder how you do know who she is." I replied sharply forgetting my problems. " Do you want to see her or not?" The guard stopped and looked at me. " I would love to see my mother but why do you have to sneak me in to see her?" I looked around the palace and I noticed the atmosphere was tensed. The guards were all mounting their position with a fearsome look on their faces. " What is going on?" I silently asked the guard " You should have asked me that before you keep asking me where your mother is. I am doing this because Selene was a good woman to me." "Who are you?" I looked at him from behind. "Girl? Isn't it obvious? I am a guard. Keep up." I followed silently behind him as we snuck through the back. I wanted to ask him why we ne
Kyra's Pov My heart beat faster as the door creaked open. I could see how meticulous the man that had the door opened was. I jumped him immediately and fled into the thick darkness not sure of where to run too. My wolf felt free, while I felt free. She was probably enjoying the freedom of being free to roam around into the moonlight. My feet hurt from a sharp pinch at the sole of my feet. I stopped abruptly. My breathing was ragged, I looked back to make sure I wasn't followed. " Ouch!" I said painfully as I removed the pointed sharp stick that had entered the sole of my feet. Blood flowed freely from the cut while I tried to take some rest. I need to head back towards the palace. I needed to see my mother but how? I was sure the palace would be swarmed with men who would be watching over my mother day and night. I would have to free her and run but who was going to harbour fugitives. Everyone knows who I was in the pack. Habouring us was going to be difficult but yet
Kyra's Pov I woke up staring around the room. One minute I was walking toward Davis room and the next minutes I was back in this room. It was awfully dark and it felt like I was kidnapped. I shrugged out of the bed feeling weak. My day had not been going on well, coupled with the fact that my mother was now convicted for murder. I need to think of a way out of this mess. I need to save her, she is the only one I have got. The thought of what was going to happen to me if she was killed gnawed at me. I fell down again feeling weak, my body system was shutting down but then I felt my wolf come alive. " What's going on? Why are we weak?" My wolf cried out " Do you think I don't want to find out why? I am feeling weak also." I replied with teary eyes. I need to go out, I need to see my mother but the weakness I was feeling was much. I looked at the door and noticed it was unlocked. That means I wasn't a prisoner. I could go out of the room if I wanted too. My legs which w
Kyra's pov I knew that shouting for help was nothing. I was. still a virgin and the thought of my virginity being taken by a rogue, a nobody scared me. " Are you just going to lie there and do nothing?" My inner wolf said with anger. But what can I do? The man standing in front of me was twice or should I say thrice my size. But then we were on a cliff. If only I could summon my courage and push him. But then I looked at him and he was done with unclothing himself. Coming towards me, I felt my wolf take charge of my body. This should not be happening but it does. I rushed towards him and it was exactly as I thought, the guard gave me a punch to my face breaking my nose. I yelled in pain as I staggered backwards towards the end of the cliff. I could feel the wind blowing hard at my face as I tried to balance myself from falling. I looked at him and I saw the way he chuckled. " If I am not going to have you then no one will." he said with vermin" You shouldn't have!" I shouted
Kyra’s POV The Mating Ball Pain throbbed in my head, a dull ache that seemed to echo with every beat of my heart. My eyes fluttered open, and for a moment, everything was blurry. The last thing I remembered was the metallic beam falling, Davis frozen in its path, and me lunging forward to push him away. The sharp sting of blood trickling down my temple was my final memory before darkness took over. A faint light from the window illuminated the room. The familiar scent of lavender lingered in the air, a scent meant to calm nerves, though it did nothing to ease the turmoil in my heart. “Where is he?” I whispered, my voice barely audible. My chest tightened as I glanced around the empty room. Davis should have been here, watching over me, worrying about me. He was the future Alpha, yes, but he was also the man I had loved for as long as I could remember.
