Chapter 1: Heartbroken

Chapter 1:

Alice was in deep thought alone in her room seated on the bed and she already drank a bottle of alcohol flashed back to her mother in-laws Mrs Carolina White and her sister in-laws Betty White mocking her, when she went for pregnancy test and the report said that, she pregnancy test was negative, they called her barren and all sort of names.

“ What did the report said? Negative, I guess, you are such a barren a woman and can never give my son a child” Mrs White said in the flashed back and Alive was hurt by some horrible words, her sister in-laws also insulted her called her names.

“ You should be ashamed of your self. Two years of marriage and you can’t give my brother just a single child, I wonder why my brother still have you as his wife” Betty says and said in the flashes back, Alice ran to her room in tears, she brings out bottle of alcohol to keep her self calm when her husband Mike White came into the room, he stood in doorstep staring at her, he went closer to her to the bed, he seated beside, her on the bed he took the glass of alcohol from her and he hold her hand and he tap her when Alice could not notice him, Alice turned her head and she looked her him and tears was full in her eyes.

“ What is it Alice? Why are you crying?” He ask and Alice stood from the bed and she walked bit forward.

“ Can’t you see what is happening? Everyone is beginning to called me barren, your mum, your sister, they are mocking me”she says and in a deep emotions, Mike stood up from where he was and he walks closer to her.

“ Listen! You should take a rest. Everything will be fine, don’t listen to my mum and my sister, I know it’s hurt but you just have to close hears” he says and in anger Mrs White and Betty walked into the room and Mike was surprised.

“ Mum! What was that? This our privacy. Why do you have to walked in that way?” He ask and his mum yells at him.

“ Shut up Mike! You can’t continue with this girl so is either you part ways with her or you I leave this house for good” Mrs White says and Alice continue crying.

“ Listen Mike! Mum is right. This woman can’t stay in this house anymore, she is barren, she has not conceived for the last time years you got married to her so it’s time you take another wife and give her divorce” Betty says and Alice could not says a word because of she does then they will scold her.

“ Betty! Stay out of my business. This is my business and I will decide what to do” he says and his mum Carolina White yells at him.

“ Shut up Mike! You will chose between her and us your family, I need a grandchild and you also need an heir, Alice is an empty woman and can never conceive” His mother says and they went out of the room with Betty, Alice and Mike stood and they stare at each other.

Layla, Alice stepsister, she is dressed up in a red shirt dress with her mother Marina, they get down from a taxi and they stood in front of the mansion, Alice is living in, they both smiles.

“ Are you ready mum?” Layla ask and her mum was staring at paper in her hand writing that Alice is barren.

“ Yes dear, I am ready and I can’t wait for you to become Mike’s wife and kick Alice out if the house beside she is not my real daughter, I am just her stepmother and she needs to know the truth now, she was only brought to the house because my Kate husband picked her from the slums where she was abandoned” She says and they both walked into the house, Carolina White and Betty saw them and they stood angry while Alice and Mike were upstairs in the room, Layla and her mother went there to ruined Alice marriage so they can kick her out of her husband’s house, Alice thought that her family liked her but her stepmother and stepsister only showed her love when the man she knew as father was alive.

“ What are you both doing here?” Carolina white ask in anger because she has tried to convince her son to give Alice a divorce but he refuse.

“ We are here to share some few information to you about Alice” Marina( Alice mother”says and she smiles staring at Layla.

“ What is it? My mum is not a good mood so says what ever you wish to say and get out from the house” Betty says in anger and Layla smiled.

“ Calm down Betty! When you hear this information you will thank us later” Layla says and she collected the papers from her mother and she hand it over to Betty, and Betty took the paper and she glance through it and she saw the name on the papers and the test résulte said that Alice is barren and can never conceive.

“ What?” Betty says, Layla and her mother stared at each other and they smiled.

“ What is it?” Carolina ask and Betty hand it over to her mum and when she glacé through it, she was also surprised and she stood up from the sofa where she was seated.

“ Is this true?” Carolina White ask.

“ Off course, it’s is true” Marina ( Layla’s mum) replies.

“ How did you get this result?” Betty ask.

“ Well, I saw it in her room the last time she came to the house, I think she forgot it or misplace it, Listen, Mrs White, trust me, that is a truth” Marina says.

“ Alice is such a bad girl in our school days and she has abort a lot of pregnancy” Layla says, Betty and her mum were surprised.

“ I said it mum, I told you that girl is barren, Mie needs to hear about this” Betty says and she called out and scream Mike’s name, Alice and Mike went downstairs stairs in a haste to know what is happening and Alice and Mike saw Marina and Layla ,Alice wonders what they are doing in the house without informing her.

“ Mum! Betty! What are you doing here?” She ask and Betty walked closer to Mike and she hand o her the papers to him, Mike glance through, he saw that Alice was barren in the test results, he got angry and he showed to Alice and when Alice saw it, she tried to explain her self that the result were fake, she never did a test resume like

This because she knew that she was not barren.

“ I told you that she is barren but you never listen but now you can see that she is barren, is it” Betty says in anger.

“ Now, you will have no choice than to give her divorce” Carolina says, Layla and Marina smiles.

“ Wait a minute, how do you get this result, they are fake?” She ask and Betty yells at her to shut up.

“ They are not fake, your sister and your mother brought us the test result, you misplaced. Did you think that we will never find out about the truth?” Betty ask in anger, Alice and Mike stare at each other, Alice signaled Mike that is not true.

“ Believe me Mike, this is not true, I don’t know what is this test results is” she says crying.

“ So, I have been leaving with a barren woman for the past two years. My mum and Betty told me but I was stubborn, you are such a gold digger, you know the truth and you kept it to your self, you are an asshole, I hate you” he says in anger.

“ Layla here said that she has aborted so many pregnancy back then in school, she should ashamed of her self” Caroline says and Mike mocked just his mother and sister alway mock Alice, he called her all sort of names and also insulted her, he told Alice not to come to his room, Betty and her mother told her to prepare to leave this house as soon as possible, Alice was still in shocked that her mother and sister bring a fake result not knowing they never loved her but only her enemies and also wants to kick her out of the house so Layla can taie over.

“ Mum! Layla! Why will you do a thing like this, you should be defending me” she says in anger and she was in tears, Marina had already signaled Layla to go upstairs to the room while she will keep Alice downstairs, Layla went upstairs and Alice wanted to stop her and Mariana hold her hands.

“ Where is Layla going to?” She ask and Marina stare at her.

“ You need to accept the truth Alice that you are barren and can never conceive” Marina, her step mother says and Alice was surprised that her mother who she never knew was just her stepmother said.

“ Mum! You also call me barren” she says in surprise.

“ Because that is what you are. It’s surprising to see you not even conceive after two years of marriage” she says and Alice was still surprised.

Layla went upstairs to the room Mike is and Mike was still upset and he yells at her to leave but Layla refuse and she went closer to him.

“ I am sorry that i did not tell you, I know that I should have tell you the truth since but I was scared”Layla says.

“ Why are you scared to tell me the truth?” He ask and Layla walks closer to him.

“ I can give you want you need, I give you a child since sue barren all what you need is to divorce her” she says and she kiss Mike, Alice was still downstairs and she thought of going upstairs to the room to explain to Mike, she ran upstairs, Marina went after her, Alice entered the room and she met Layla and Mike kissing deeply and she was surprised.
