Chapter 8

Alice was exhausted and ready to call it a day. She had been working long hours at the office, trying to make ends meet for her family.As she reached for her bag, her boss Nathan stopped her. "Alice, let me give you a ride home. It's the least I could do after making you work so hard."

Alice hesitated, not wanting to trouble Nathan. "Thankyou, Nathan, but I can manage," she said.

Nathan wouldn't take no for an answer. "It's no trouble at all. Come on, I insist."

Alice reluctantly agreed and followed him to his car. As they drove, Nathan asked about Alice's family. She told him about her four children - Henry, Harriet, Hannah, and Harry, who had been ill lately.

When they arrived at Alice's small apartment, her children greeted her with excitement. "Mummy's home!" they shouted.

Alice asked about Harry, and her children told her he had been sleeping all day. Worried, Alice quickly went to check on him. Nathan offered to take them all to the hospital.
