God, I am pregnant," Giselle thought as she stared at the pregnancy test in her hands.
She couldn't believe she was a month pregnant.
Her phone rang, making her flinch as she picked it up.
It was Cameron.
She was about to take the call when the door opened, revealing Xavier. She got to her feet, her heart sinking as she stared at him.
He wore an unhappy expression but looked at her as he approached.
"Hey, honey," she said, forcing a smile.
He looked away from her and sat on the sofa.
Giselle fiddled with her fingers as she sat next to him nervously.
He placed his hand on his temple, resting his elbow on the sofa arm.
"Honey?"
He didn't respond, continuing to look everywhere but at her.
"What is wrong?" she asked, her voice almost breaking.
His eyes moved to her.
She gulped.
His gaze rested on her.
Her hands became sweaty as she dropped her gaze.
"Giselle," he called, prompting her to look at him. He was looking at her.
"Yes?"
"I want a divorce."
She froze.
"Wha...what?" she stuttered.
He stood up and turned to leave. She lost control of her legs as they carried her in front of him, blocking his way.
Her heart pounded tirelessly.
He glared at her.
"Xavier, what is... what is wrong?" she stuttered, feeling her hands shake.
He didn't respond but kept glaring at her. His height had never seemed so intimidating. Could it be because of everything?
Why was he asking for a divorce?
What was going on?
She nervously stared at him. "Wha...."
The next thing he did made her freeze. He pulled out some pictures from his bag and threw them into the air effortlessly.
The pictures rained down on her like flowers. She stared at them, trying to understand what they were.
Her world stopped at the sight of one. She leaned down slowly and picked it up. Her heart sank into her stomach as she stared at the picture. It was a photo of her and a random man, naked together on the bed.
She covered her mouth with her palm in absolute terror. She looked at the other pictures. They were all images of her and the random man.
She couldn't believe this.
Oh God.
What was this? Who had done this to her?
"Who the fuck are you?" Xavier spoke up.
She looked at him.
He was glaring at her. The look on his face was beyond anything she had ever seen—hate, pain, and anger all mixed together. Her heart felt like it might explode.
She shook her head slightly, tears brimming in her eyes.
"Who the hell did I marry?" he snarled.
She opened her mouth to speak but couldn't utter a word.
"I married a cheap whore!" he spat.
She flinched, feeling a sharp pain in her heart.
"I can't believe this."
"Xavier, it is... it is not what you..."
"Don't give me that bullshit!" he snapped, making her flinch as she dropped her gaze. Tears streamed down her face.
"You cheating dirty cheap whore!" he spat.
She gasped slightly as she held her chest.
"How could you do this to me, Giselle?" he asked. His voice sounded different this time, making her look at him.
He had tears in his eyes.
That broke her heart beyond imagination.
"All I did was love and care for you," he almost whispered.
She sobbed silently as she stared at him.
"I worked tirelessly just to make you a happy wife, and you do this to me."
She reached to touch him. "Xavier, please..."
"DON'T touch me," he snarled, making her withdraw her hands.
"You disgust me," he spat.
She shook her head. "Xavier..."
"I regret ever stepping foot in your parents' house to ask for your hand in marriage. You are the worst mistake of my life, and I hate you so much, Giselle."
She dropped her gaze, letting out sobs. Tears filled her face.
"You know, you are a very good pretender," he said. "I was a fool to think you would be a good and faithful wife to a nobody like me."
She looked at him, shaking her head. "No..."
"I was a big stupid fool!"
"No, that's not true. I wasn't pretending. I love you, Xavier," she cried.
"Oh shut the fuck up, liar. You are a bloody liar!"
Her heart ached painfully.
"You never loved me. Why the hell did you even agree to marry me? You know I have nothing. Why did you marry me? So you could hide under the umbrella of a married woman and be free to roam as you wanted?"
"No!" she cried.
He scoffed. "Quit faking those tears, Giselle. They only show how much of a pretender you are."
She continued sobbing.
"You are a snake, sent from the pit of hell to destroy my heart!"
"Xavier!"
"That's what you are!" he blurted.
Her heart broke again.
"How much did he give you, huh?"
She looked at him.
"How much did he offer you to betray me like this?"
She couldn't speak, only sob.
"A million?" he asked.
She sobbed more.
"Two million?!"
"He didn't offer me anything!" she cried.
He scoffed. "You did it for free, huh?"
Her heart ached badly.
"I wasn't good enough for you?" he asked.
She shook her head.
"I wasn't good enough for you, both financially and sexually?"
"No, that's not..."
"Then what was your reason for betraying me like this?!" he yelled angrily, making her flinch.
"Tell me, Giselle. Stop this fucking mess of tears!"
"It was a mistake," she sobbed.
He scoffed in disbelief.
"It was a mistake, I swear."
He muttered something she didn't hear as he moved away from her.
"Please, you have to believe me. I didn't do this on purpose. I..."
"I want a divorce, Giselle," he retorted, repeating those dreaded words.
"No, please."
"It is over," he said.
She shook her head. "Don't do this, please."
"I don't ever want to see you in front of me again."
"Xavier, please."
"Go in there, pack your things, and leave my house and my life," he said calmly.
"What...?"
"Get out, Giselle!"
"No," she cried, dropping to her knees and clasping her hands together.
"Don't make me repeat myself."
More tears flowed.
"I don't ever want to see your face again in my life," he said.
"Xavier, don't do this. I can't live without you. Please," she begged.
He reached for her clasped hands and took off the ring on her finger.
Her heart clenched harder as she looked at him.
"Xavier..."
"No," she cried, going down on her knees. "You never deserved my mother's ring. I regret ever giving it to you," he said. She felt stinging daggers in her heart as she watched him stare at the ring. He was really serious about this. He really wanted to divorce her. He just took off the ring he gave her. The ring that came with the vows he said to her. Oh God. "Now, get your slutty self up, and get the hell out of my house. Leave while I am still holding down my rage. You wouldn't like what I would do to you when I come back to this house and find you here," he said, walking past her and heading towards the door. He walked out and slammed the door hard. She flinched. Oh God. How did this happen? Why was this happening to her? Why?! The pictures took her attention. She picked one up and felt ashamed of herself staring at it. It was so awful. She couldn't even see the random man's face clearly. His face was blurred. Only hers was clear. Someone did this to her. It was a
Your real parents were deranged people. They were miserable drunkards, and they are dead!" Nina spat.Giselle's heart dropped. She let out a breathless scoff."You are not a Dawson. Your name is Giselle Harrison. You don't share even a drop of our blood."Tears rolled down her cheeks."That explains your ridiculous behavior. A Dawson cannot bring shame to the family like you brought to yours. You are nothing but a dirty, filthy cheap whore!""Nina!" Terry interjected."What?!" she snapped at him.Giselle looked at him, her voice trembling. "Dad, is...is this true?""He is not your dad," Nina replied sharply.Giselle's heart ached painfully as she maintained her gaze on her father. He heaved a sigh, the expression on his face confirming Nina's words. They were not her parents.Giselle let out a breathless scoff of disbelief. Her heart felt weak."I am sorry, Giselle. But it is the truth. You are not our daughter," he said, causing her to place a hand on her chest as more tears poured f
FIVE YEARS LATER "Give me my pencil, Archie!""I don't have your pencil, Ayla. Stop accusing me wrongly.""I saw you going through my bag.""Liar!""Mum!"Giselle heaved a sigh as she walked out of the kitchen with the little towel she was using to wipe her hands."What is going on?" she asked as she picked up Archie's school bag and zipped it up."Archie took my pencil," Ayla cried."She is lying," Archie defended."I saw you going through my bag!" she yelled."Liar!""Enough, please. Ayla, I will buy you a new pencil," Giselle said, taking a seat on the only sofa in their room and helping Archie wear his bag."Me too, Mum," Archie said."You have your own!" Ayla snapped."Ayla, stop yelling at your brother," Giselle cautioned. She dropped her gaze. "Sorry, Mum."Giselle sighed as she brought Ayla closer and helped her with her bag. They were both in their uniforms, ready for school, and they were already late.Giselle was late as well for her job."No yelling. I am older than you,"
Xavier was focused on the file in his hands. This was real. Giselle thought."Oh, good day, Sir," Rob said, standing to his feet.Sir? Giselle thought. She looked back at Xavier. He hadn't noticed her yet; he was still busy with the file. She stood slowly, scanning his appearance. He was dressed in a very expensive blue suit, looking very different and...And more handsome."Hello, Rob," he said.A lump formed in Giselle’s throat at the sound of his voice."How was your night?" he asked."Awesome, sir. The interview started a few minutes ago," Rob replied, which made Xavier look up from his file. His eyes first went to Rob and then at Giselle. His face twitched. It was really him."Xavier," she called, staring at him with emotions in her eyes."What the hell?" he said, scowling at her.Her heart raced."What is this whore doing here?" he asked Rob, without looking away from her.A sting shot through her heart."Um... She is one of the many who came for the interview, sir," Rob stutter
Archie nodded. "I am thirsty. I want water," he said."Okay. Mummy will get you some," she replied, turning to the counter to pick up a cup. She filled it with water from the tap and walked toward her son.She handed the cup to him. He took it and drank it all, then handed back the cup."Thank you, Mum," he said."You are welcome, baby." She placed the cup back."Let's get you back to bed," she said as she led him back to the room. He climbed onto the bed, and she joined him.He stirred on the bed and placed his hand on her neck. She placed her hand on his body and kissed his temples."Good night, sweetie," she said."Goodnight, Mum," he replied. She moved her hand to Ayla and caressed her hair."Do it for your kids, Giselle," Blaire's words echoed in her mind. She heaved a sigh.---"Where are we going to, Mum?" Ayla asked as Giselle helped her with her pink dress."Yes, Mum, why aren't we wearing our uniforms?" Archie asked, already dressed in his blue t-shirt and black shorts."Tha
The files fell from her hands. The sound separated them from the kiss and attracted their attention toward her. "What the hell?" Arabella asked. Xavier scoffed mockingly. Giselle's heart ached again as she leaned down to pick up the files. The other girls joined to help her. "What incompetence," she heard Darlyn say. "What can I say, babe? People are always lousy, and they don't take their jobs seriously," Xavier replied, making Giselle look at him. He was gazing at Arabella and touching her face admiringly. Arabella scoffed. "Why don't you just fire them all?" Xavier chuckled. "Finding new employees can be stressful. You look very beautiful, by the way. I missed you," he said, smiling at her as he wrapped his hands around her waist and kissed her lips again. Like before, his eyes moved to Giselle. She dropped her gaze to the files she was picking up. She heard Xavier giggle. "I missed you too, babe," she said. More kissing sounds reached Giselle’s ears, adding to t
Xavier watched as Giselle stared at him with those beautiful brown eyes that brought back awful memories every time he looked into them. He found it hard to maintain his harshness whenever he met her gaze. It was difficult, but not impossible. He didn’t even understand why he had come out here. There she was. He couldn’t deny it: she was the only woman he had ever loved, the only woman he would do anything for. The fucking betrayer. A cheap, cheap slut. She stood before him, looking very lean and annoyingly vulnerable. Even back then, when she had been with him and he had nothing, she had looked better than the pathetic version of herself she was now. He still wondered how she had lived those past five years to become this awful. But he didn’t doubt that seeing her for the first time in five years had brought back those buried feelings. He thought her lover had left her, just as he had suspected. He had likely moved on to the next available housewife to fuck. The thought of t
“Did you see my ring on her finger? You remember it, don't you? That's my mother's diamond ring.""You had it, but you chose to defile it with your slutty ways.""But it is fine. It is now on the finger of a more beautiful and genuine woman. A celebrity model who suits my class and status."Giselle's heart tightened severely as Xavier’s awful words repeated in her mind. Tears rolled down her cheeks continuously as she focused her gaze on the road through the windows. She was currently on a bus, heading to Blaire’s place. It was late already, past closing hours. The night was cold because of the rain, and she didn't have an umbrella. According to the address Blaire had given her, she figured she would still have to walk in the rain to reach Blaire’s apartment. That was the least of her worries. She hated her life. She hated everything that was happening to her. She hated herself so much and regretted every bit of her actions from that fateful night five years ago. That night had ruined
Loads of regrets washed over her as he smirked at her.She felt terrible. She felt dirty. She felt shameful. She felt pissed beyond anything. She pushed him away, and he almost fell."You bastard!" she yelled, pushing him again."Don't you ever come near me again!" she almost cried, running out of the kitchen. She ran toward the restroom and entered one of the stalls. Sitting on the toilet seat, she covered her face with her hands. She cried silently, feeling very awful. That didn’t just happen to her.He was a devil. He was a bastard! She hated him!She hated him so much. What is wrong with you, Giselle? How could she let him come near you like that? How?!What is wrong with you?!She hugged herself, sniffling. She felt so pathetic. She couldn’t believe she let this happen. She felt very awful.Damn you, Xavier.Damn you!*******After some minutes in the bathroom, she headed back to the studio. She managed to compose herself before stepping out.She still felt awful, but she had to
Giselle turned her gaze away from Xavier just as Damien pulled away from the hug. He gave her a pleasant smile, and she returned it, though a wave of nervousness still lingered beneath the surface. She felt exposed beneath the dress, knowing there was nothing underneath to shield her, though the fabric did its job—barely. The slit ran dangerously high.Harley had picked the dress for her.In fact, Harley had orchestrated everything. She had intentionally caused delays in their preparations and misled Rob with false information. She’d wanted to mess with Arabella a little, claiming Arabella would fall for the misinformation and act immediately.Giselle had her doubts—but looking at Arabella now, caked in makeup and visibly fuming, it was obvious she had taken the bait.It was actually hilarious.“So, what do you think, Damien?” Harley asked.Damien shook his head slowly, his eyes still fixed on Giselle with awe, much like the others in the room.“I think I’m going to make a lot of sale
Ava bit her lips, regretting asking the question. Well, she can't back down now. She has to finish what she started. She couldn't ignore the signs. Her curiosity had to get the best of her.She seriously can't believe Giselle is here and in front of her.The same Giselle her mean girlfriend hates so much."Um...Cameron is an old friend. She talks about her friend called Giselle sometimes." Ava said.Giselle’s face twitched."So I wanted to know if you are the same Giselle she was talking about." Ava said."Yes. Cameron is my best friend." Giselle said, smiling a little.Ava is amazed by that.Giselle is not as she expected. She just called Cameron her best friend. And happily too.Giselle is instantly reminded of the little issue between her and Cameron."But we.....," she paused, looking at her fingers but looked back at Ava. "We are not in good terms."Ava nodded. "Really? Mind telling me why?Giselle shrugged but furrowed her brows a little as she recalled something."Wait, are you
Giselle furrowed her brows as Ava continued staring at her in a blank but strange way."Do you know her?" Elodie asked Ava."What? No, no. Her name is just familiar," Ava said, extending her hand to Giselle and smiling. They shook hands."It is nice to meet you," Ava said."Same here," Giselle replied, smiling a little."So, where did you and my dad meet?" Elodie asked Giselle."I told you, princess," Damien said."I know, Dad. I just want to hear it again, but from her," Elodie said, smiling at Giselle.Giselle let out a chuckle. "We met at the mall. He was buying some pretty dresses for you," she said, making Elodie giggle."And we met again today at the company where I work," Giselle added."That means you both are meant to be," Elodie said, making them chuckle."That's enough questions, princess. Let's have dessert," Damien said, motioning toward the dining table.Elodie held Giselle's hand as they headed toward the dining table. She is so adorable, Giselle thought. When they reac
Xavier was scowling at her, still pinning her to the wall. She struggled to push him away, but his strength was always too strong to fight against."What the hell is wrong with you? Why do you keep following me, huh? Go and be with your perfect baby girlfriend," she said angrily."What's your deal with my client, huh?" he asked, ignoring her words. She scoffed. Seriously?"What's your deal with him? All of a sudden he wants a change and he chose you?""Yes, he chose me. Why do you have a problem with that?" she replied. He clenched his jaw."What? Are you upset he doesn't want your mighty celebrity model anymore?"He didn't respond but kept scowling at her."News flash, Xavier, the world doesn't, and won't revolve around her even if you are the wealthiest man on earth," she retorted. He hummed. "I see. I get it now. I see why he prefers you."She looked away from him."Damien is one of your clients, isn't he?"She looked at him with furrowed brows. "Excuse me?""He is one of those men
“Yes, that's right. Damien from the mall the other day," Harley said.Giselle nodded slightly as Damien kept staring at her. She moved a strand of her hair behind her ear nervously. He was dressed in a blue suit, looking more handsome than the first time she saw him."You didn't tell us you were THE Damien Walker of Walker Textiles. Hell, you didn't show off as a CEO," Harley said, making Damien chuckle."No, I don't do that. Especially when I was smitten by your sister here," Damien said, looking at Giselle."Oh," Harley responded.Damien smiled at Giselle, and she smiled back."She is not her sister," Xavier spoke up, claiming their attention and reminding them of his presence."What?" Damien asked."She is Harley’s assistant," Xavier said."Well, she is more than that, Damien. That's why I called her my sister," Harley said, smiling at Damien."I see," Damien said. He extended his hand to Giselle. She placed her hand in his."I am happy to see you again, sunshine. You look stunning
“We have to talk," Arabella said, making Giselle roll her eyes."I have nothing to say to you," she replied, walking past her."You think you are winning, aren't you? Because Harley has your back."Giselle stopped in her tracks and turned to her.Arabella raised her brows. “Excuse me?" Giselle asked. "You heard me.""What? Are you jealous?" Giselle asked.Arabella scoffed. "Of you? Stop dreaming, bitch."Giselle chuckled. "You are jealous, Arabella. Harley is Xavier’s only family. You are jealous because you don't have her approval to marry her brother," she said, smiling.Arabella scowled at her."I am correct, aren't I?" Giselle asked. Arabella didn't respond."I know you are young. But you shouldn't be a fool as well." Giselle said. "What the fuck did you just say to me?" Arabella asked. "You heard me. You want to marry Xavier so bad, right? You should be trying to get his sister's approval and not provoke her like you did back at the studio." Giselle said. Arabella scoffed.
Just as she had thought. That stranger was her twins' father. The DNA test results had just proved it.Her heart tightened severely as she looked at the results."I am so sorry, Giselle," Cameron said, drawing Giselle's attention."I know you wanted Xavier to be their father," Cameron added.Giselle shook her head. "It's okay. I did want that, but it is clear now. Everything ended between Xavier and me a long time ago. These results just confirmed it," she said, dropping her gaze as tears threatened to spill.Cameron quickly collected the results from her, making Giselle look at her.Cameron was staring at something behind Giselle. "Xavier’s sister is coming," she whispered, causing Giselle's heart to drop."Is something wrong, Giselle?” Harley asked.Giselle turned to her. "Huh, nothing. Nothing is wrong. Just talking with my friend," she replied.Harley folded her hands and looked at Cameron."Hmm, friend. Cameron, right?" Harley asked."Yes. Doctor Cameron, it is nice to formall
Giselle's heart pounded as Xavier got closer to her. His piercing blue eyes on hers made her very uneasy.Seriously, why is he here?!"Xavier...""What the fuck are you wearing?" he retorted. She was taken aback by his question. Was that the reason he followed her up here? To ask her about her dress? He was scowling at her.She managed to put on a smile. "I am wearing a dress. What? Do you like it?"He clenched his jaw angrily. "Don't fuck with me, Giselle," he snarled.Giselle shrugged. "What did I do?"He closed his eyes and opened them as if trying to suppress his anger. What was with him?"What is it with you and my sister, huh? Why the fucking foolishness?" he asked. She scoffed. "Foolishness? Your sister employed me as her assistant. I don't see any foolishness in that. Why does it upset you, huh?"He scowled at her."What? Do you hate the fact that I am no longer slaving around for you or cleaning like you wanted me to?" she asked, and the next thing he did was grab her arm, ca
