Xavier was focused on the file in his hands.
This was real. Giselle thought.
"Oh, good day, Sir," Rob said, standing to his feet.
Sir? Giselle thought.
She looked back at Xavier. He hadn't noticed her yet; he was still busy with the file. She stood slowly, scanning his appearance. He was dressed in a very expensive blue suit, looking very different and...
And more handsome.
"Hello, Rob," he said.
A lump formed in Giselle’s throat at the sound of his voice.
"How was your night?" he asked.
"Awesome, sir. The interview started a few minutes ago," Rob replied, which made Xavier look up from his file. His eyes first went to Rob and then at Giselle.
His face twitched.
It was really him.
"Xavier," she called, staring at him with emotions in her eyes.
"What the hell?" he said, scowling at her.
Her heart raced.
"What is this whore doing here?" he asked Rob, without looking away from her.
A sting shot through her heart.
"Um... She is one of the many who came for the interview, sir," Rob stuttered.
Xavier scoffed, glancing at Rob.
Wait, Rob had been calling him sir. Was he... the boss? Giselle thought.
Xavier looked back at her. "You came for an interview in my company?" he asked.
She was taken aback by what he just said. "Your... your company?" she stuttered.
"What, your fucking lover doesn't take care of you enough that you came looking for a job in my fucking company?" he asked angrily.
She opened her mouth to speak, but...
"Get out," he snarled angrily. His blue eyes carried a lot of hate and coldness.
"Xavier," she called regardless, reaching for him.
"I said get the hell out!" he yelled, making her jump. She quickly ran out of the office.
AT GISELLE'S APARTMENT
"What?!" Blaire yelled, making the kids flinch.
"Blaire, geez," Giselle called, motioning to the children.
"Sorry. Sorry, kids," Blaire said to the twins, who were seated on the sofa, busy devouring the cookies she had bought for them.
Blaire took Giselle's hand and led her into the kitchen. It was late, and Giselle was losing her mind over the certificate.
She heaved a sigh as Blaire closed the door behind her.
"You mean, your ex-husband is the CEO of Lens Masterpiece advertising company?" Blaire asked.
"Blaire, that's not the problem. They have the fake certificate. What if they find out and—"
"Chill, Giselle. This is huge!" Blaire retorted.
"Blaire, my kids. Your language," Giselle cautioned.
"Sorry, sorry," Blaire whispered.
"What are we going to do? We need those certificates."
"Calm down, Giselle. You worry too much. You said they threw you out, right?"
Giselle nodded.
"Then you don't have to worry. They must have thrown your certificate out as well," Blaire said.
Just then, Giselle's phone rang. It was an unknown number.
She took the call.
"Hello?"
"Hi, is this Giselle Harrison?" a male voice asked.
She gulped. "Ye... yes, this is her."
"Good. You have to come to Lens Masterpiece advertising company tomorrow morning," the voice said.
Her heart dropped. She looked at Blaire.
Blaire gave her a questioning look.
"Hello, are you there?" the male voice asked.
"Ye... yes."
"Alright. Come to the company by nine AM for an interview. Thank you and have a good night rest." He hung up.
An interview?
"What's wrong?" Blaire asked as Giselle slowly put her phone down.
"Giselle, what the hell is going on?" Blaire asked worriedly.
Giselle looked at her.
"What is it?"
"It's the company," she said.
"Really?" Blaire asked.
Giselle nodded.
"What do they want?" Blaire asked.
"They want me to come tomorrow for another interview."
"Really?!" Blaire squealed happily.
Giselle furrowed her brows at her.
"That's awesome, right?" Blaire asked.
Giselle shook her head, giving her a panicked look.
"What's wrong?" Blaire asked.
"I have a bad feeling about it," Giselle said.
"What do you mean you have a bad... stop with the paranoid vibe, Kim, geez. You are going," Blaire said, holding her hand.
Giselle heaved a sigh.
NEXT DAY....
AT LENS MASTERPIECE COMPANY.....
Giselle took a seat opposite Xavier's desk.
"Giselle," he called, making her heart flutter involuntarily.
That was the same way she felt whenever he said her name.
"Five years hasn't been good to you," he said, making her clench her purse tightly. Her gaze remained down.
"You look different and fucking lean," he added.
God, she shouldn't have come here.
"In those freaking cheap clothes," he said.
She furrowed her brows.
"I thought your lover was capable of taking care of you," he mocked.
Her heart clenched.
"Or did he leave you and move to the next available housewife?"
She sprang up instantly, looking at him with the pain-filled face she was finding so hard to mask.
He relaxed in his seat, staring at her with his arrogant demeanor.
"This is a very huge mistake. I am sorry for coming to your company. Excuse me," she said, turning from him and heading for the door.
"I believe you have something to tell the police waiting for you out there about the complete fake certificate you brought to my fucking company," he said calmly, making her stop in her tracks.
Her heart sank into her belly.
She turned to him.
He was on his feet, looking at her and holding up the certificate in his hand.
Her lips parted in absolute surprise.
"You think I wouldn't find out?" he asked.
Her heart begged to pop out of her chest.
He pressed a button.
"Rob, send in the officers now," he said aloud, making her heart drop.
Oh God.
The door opened, revealing Rob and two intimidating-looking men in black attire and dark shades.
Terror washed over her as they walked into the office.
"Seize her," Rob ordered.
"N... no," she stuttered as the men grabbed both her arms, making her purse fall to the floor.
"Xavier, please..."
"Do you think I am dumb, Giselle?" he asked.
She shook her head.
"You actually brought this fake certificate," he said, dropping the certificate on his desk. "To apply for a job here. Are you fucking serious?!" he yelled.
She flinched. "I didn't... I am sorry, please..." she stuttered helplessly.
He scoffed. "You know, five years is fucking tiny to make me forget your educational background, Giselle."
Tears rolled down her eyes.
"You are just a high school graduate. Did you really think you could outsmart me with this?" He pointed down at the certificate.
She shook her head.
"Take her away," he ordered the officers.
"No, please, I didn't... I didn't know it was your company, I swear. Please, I will do anything," she begged.
He raised his brows.
"Anything?" he asked.
She nodded. "Yes, please."
He gave Rob a head sign, and the officers released her and walked out of the office.
"Sit," Xavier ordered.
She obeyed.
He leaned closer over the desk.
She maintained her gaze on her purse.
"Look at me when I am talking to you," he ordered.
She obeyed.
"You have to work for me, Giselle," he said.
She furrowed her brows in confusion.
He was looking at her.
"You will work for me as my personal assistant," he said.
What?
He moved his swivel seat a little while staring at her, amused.
She dropped her gaze, processing what he just said.
"It is either that or five years in jail."
She looked at him.
He raised his brow at her.
"Make a choice, Giselle Harrison."
Archie nodded. "I am thirsty. I want water," he said."Okay. Mummy will get you some," she replied, turning to the counter to pick up a cup. She filled it with water from the tap and walked toward her son.She handed the cup to him. He took it and drank it all, then handed back the cup."Thank you, Mum," he said."You are welcome, baby." She placed the cup back."Let's get you back to bed," she said as she led him back to the room. He climbed onto the bed, and she joined him.He stirred on the bed and placed his hand on her neck. She placed her hand on his body and kissed his temples."Good night, sweetie," she said."Goodnight, Mum," he replied. She moved her hand to Ayla and caressed her hair."Do it for your kids, Giselle," Blaire's words echoed in her mind. She heaved a sigh.---"Where are we going to, Mum?" Ayla asked as Giselle helped her with her pink dress."Yes, Mum, why aren't we wearing our uniforms?" Archie asked, already dressed in his blue t-shirt and black shorts."Tha
The files fell from her hands. The sound separated them from the kiss and attracted their attention toward her. "What the hell?" Arabella asked. Xavier scoffed mockingly. Giselle's heart ached again as she leaned down to pick up the files. The other girls joined to help her. "What incompetence," she heard Darlyn say. "What can I say, babe? People are always lousy, and they don't take their jobs seriously," Xavier replied, making Giselle look at him. He was gazing at Arabella and touching her face admiringly. Arabella scoffed. "Why don't you just fire them all?" Xavier chuckled. "Finding new employees can be stressful. You look very beautiful, by the way. I missed you," he said, smiling at her as he wrapped his hands around her waist and kissed her lips again. Like before, his eyes moved to Giselle. She dropped her gaze to the files she was picking up. She heard Xavier giggle. "I missed you too, babe," she said. More kissing sounds reached Giselle’s ears, adding to t
Xavier watched as Giselle stared at him with those beautiful brown eyes that brought back awful memories every time he looked into them. He found it hard to maintain his harshness whenever he met her gaze. It was difficult, but not impossible. He didn’t even understand why he had come out here. There she was. He couldn’t deny it: she was the only woman he had ever loved, the only woman he would do anything for. The fucking betrayer. A cheap, cheap slut. She stood before him, looking very lean and annoyingly vulnerable. Even back then, when she had been with him and he had nothing, she had looked better than the pathetic version of herself she was now. He still wondered how she had lived those past five years to become this awful. But he didn’t doubt that seeing her for the first time in five years had brought back those buried feelings. He thought her lover had left her, just as he had suspected. He had likely moved on to the next available housewife to fuck. The thought of t
“Did you see my ring on her finger? You remember it, don't you? That's my mother's diamond ring.""You had it, but you chose to defile it with your slutty ways.""But it is fine. It is now on the finger of a more beautiful and genuine woman. A celebrity model who suits my class and status."Giselle's heart tightened severely as Xavier’s awful words repeated in her mind. Tears rolled down her cheeks continuously as she focused her gaze on the road through the windows. She was currently on a bus, heading to Blaire’s place. It was late already, past closing hours. The night was cold because of the rain, and she didn't have an umbrella. According to the address Blaire had given her, she figured she would still have to walk in the rain to reach Blaire’s apartment. That was the least of her worries. She hated her life. She hated everything that was happening to her. She hated herself so much and regretted every bit of her actions from that fateful night five years ago. That night had ruined
“Bye, Mum!" Giselle's kids said in unison from the balcony for the fifth time that morning. They were waving at her, along with Blaire, who stood there with them.Giselle waved back before crossing the busy street. The street was a bit rowdy but better than where they used to live. She hadn’t slept well last night. It wasn’t because of the noise outside but because of her awful situation. She shared a room with her kids and spent the night staring at them, thinking about everything. She had started to kill her feelings for Xavier. It was going to take time, but she was trying.Giselle hoped today would be better than yesterday. She had to ignore all the negative thoughts and focus on work.Everything would be fine. She stood at the bus stop with other people, waiting for a bus. She glanced at her tiny wristwatch; it was seven o'clock. Rob had said Xavier came to work around eight, so she had just one hour.Actually, thirty minutes. She needed to be at work before Xavier. She really h
Xavier stood there, staring at his best friend, Mason, and his ex-wife, and all he could feel was rage about Mason’s hands on her. As the woman he once loved stood there, her gaze fixed downward, he couldn't help but think, *The bitch knows what she did.*"Xavier, hey," Mason said, making Xavier look at him."What is going on here?" Xavier asked, his voice sharp.Mason huffed. "Nothing. I was on my way to your office when this beautiful but quite familiar woman bumped into me." He glanced at her, but she kept her gaze down.Xavier scoffed, ignoring Mason's compliment. "Let me guess, you were once her lover?" he asked, noticing the pain flash across her face.He stared at her blankly.Mason scoffed. "Don't be ridiculous, man. I said she looks familiar. Certainly not in the way you're thinking."Xavier hummed. "I see. Well, she has a history of having lovers, which is why I thought of that when you said she is beautiful and familiar." He looked at her again. Her gaze remained downcast,
“Get that thing out of my office right now," Xavier ordered, feeling his blood boil.Giselle picked up the tray with the pieces of the shattered glasses and stood to her feet.Mason did the same. “Are you sure you are okay?" he asked Giselle. "Yes, thank you, sir," she replied, making Xavier scoff as she headed for the door."Babe, I am talking to you." Arabella caught his attention."I'm sorry, sweetie. I just can't tolerate nonsense in my office," he said, glancing at Mason.Mason heaved a sigh and walked towards Xavier's desk. "What the hell is your problem this morning, man?" he asked, taking a seat.Xavier didn’t respond."See what I told you, Arabella? Your husband-to-be woke up on the wrong side of the bed today," Mason said.Xavier threw him a glare."I can see that, Mason," Arabella said, dusting off an invisible speck on his suit and cupping his cheek. He rested his gaze on her hazel eyes, one of the things that had attracted him to her."But he had fun with me on the same
“Thank you," Mason said, smiling at Giselle after she placed his glass of red wine in front of him.She forced a smile as well and was about to walk towards Xavier’s table when..."Seriously?" Xavier asked, making her freeze."You have some nerve, don't you, Miss Harrison?" Xavier said, walking closer. She furrowed her brows. He stood behind his chair, looking at her. Her heart pounded as he continued."How dare you flirt with my best friend in my office, Miss Harrison?" he asked, making her furrow her brows in confusion. What? Flirt? Giselle asked internally. He was looking at her unpleasantly."Xavier, what the hell?" Mason interjected.Xavier raised his finger at him, silencing him.He turned back to Giselle. "I asked you a question.""I wasn't flir—""Are you calling me blind?" he interrupted. She shook her head."Have you no shame, huh?"What was he on about? She didn’t understand..."Are you that starved that you can't help but flirt with any man you see?!" he snapped, glaring
Cameron was Giselle's best friend.Giselle can’t believe Cameron is right in front of her.And she looked very different and beautiful. And in a lab coat. She had succeeded in becoming a doctor.Oh my gosh.Giselle couldn't stop staring at her. Cameron was staring back, but in a strange way.Wasn't she happy to see her?Rob pinched Giselle lightly, making her look at him. He moved his eyes, signaling her to pay attention.Giselle noticed everyone looking at her, including Xavier. She realized that she had just interrupted rudely.Oh gosh.Xavier scoffed.Giselle dropped her gaze."Forgive the insolence of my pathetic personal assistant, Mr. Vincent," Xavier said, making her clench the file and fight herself internally. She had gotten carried away."It is okay, Mr. Sheffield. I understand how incompetent employees can be," Mr. Vincent replied.Giselle sighed softly.Xavier let out a chuckle. "I am glad you do. This way, please." He led the way to what she thought was the meeting hall.
Giselle nodded. "Your boss dropped you?!" Blaire exclaimed. Giselle nodded again. "Yes." "Why? What happened to his anger and hatred towards you?" she asked. "I am as surprised as you are. But he said that if anything happens to me, it will be on his company. He doesn't want that. He didn't do it for me," Giselle replied. Blaire scoffed. "Yeah right. Giselle, your ex-husband still cares about you." Giselle shook her head. "I don't think so. What he said was a solid reason. He doesn't care about me." "But hold on, he knows where you live now?" Blaire pressed. Giselle shook her head, making Blaire furrow her brows. "I knew the kids would be on the balcony, so I made him drop me at the last building." "Wow. That's clever. Trust me, Archie would surely call after you if you had dropped here," Blaire said. "You’re talking as if I don't know my kids," Giselle replied. Blaire chuckled. "I couldn't risk it. I had to take him down there," Giselle said, removing the band from her ha
Giselle was dumbfounded at the sight of Xavier in his car, asking her to get in.Wait, did he really just... is he actually here? She asked internally. "Come on, shawty!" the men called, making her look their way. They were waving at her."Are you coming in or not?" Xavier asked. She quickly ran toward the passenger seat, opened the door, and entered. He started the car and drove away.Giselle let out a breath she didn't know she was holding. Her heart raced as the car moved. She couldn't believe she was in Xavier’s car. He actually came out for her.Is this real? This is real. She was actually in his car.He came out for her!Does this mean he cares about her?She looked at him.He was focused on the road. She withdrew her eyes from him, her heart still racing. It did mean that he cared about her.I mean, what other explanation could there be?She fiddled with her fingers as her heart kept twirling in excitement. She dropped her gaze on her bag. She should thank him.She should. He
Giselle’s heart skipped a beat at the sound of the loud thud on the table, and she jumped.Looking around, she recognized where she was instantly until her eyes fell on an angry-looking Xavier. Oh gosh."Seriously, Miss Harrison? Sleeping on duty?" he asked."I... I am sorry, sir," she stuttered as she moved her hands over the files and pulled the laptop closer. She felt his gaze on her, making her nervous. She couldn't even remember where she had stopped.Staring at the laptop screen and then at the files, her hands became sweaty.Oh geez."How long have you been sleeping?" he asked. She looked at him but dropped her gaze immediately."I asked you a question," he demanded."Fi... five minutes," she lied. She couldn't even tell how long it had been. But honestly, she had been way gone. And oh my God, it was dark outside!"Five minutes, huh?" he asked. She nodded."Or do you mean five hours?"She shook her head. "N... no, sir...""How many files have you typed so far?" he asked. She n
Xavier scoffed as she leaned down to pick up the files that had fallen from her hands while gawking at him.Or could she be drooling?Well, of course. She was drooling."Seriously, Miss Harrison? Are you always this clumsy, or did you get lost in your lousy imaginations?" he asked, walking toward the nightstand and picking up his lotion. He didn't get an answer from her."I asked you a question, Miss Harrison," he said without looking at her."I... I... am sorry," she stuttered, clearing her throat. He scoffed. He took some lotion in his palm, rubbed his hands together, and applied it to his body.He could feel her eyes on him.He guessed she was swimming in a pool of regrets right now. She must feel awful for leaving this for the stupid lover of hers.Smirking, he turned around and met her gaze, which was fixed downwards. She wasn't even staring at him.Seriously? She was just standing there with the files in her hands and... literally staring at them."What are you doing here?" he a
“Did you hear me?" Rob asked."I did but....""One of the company's drivers will take you. His house is not that far from here anyway," he said, typing on his laptop.Gosh. His house. I am going to his house. She said internally. "Hurry up and get the files," Rob said. She nodded slightly and walked toward the office.Entering, she moved toward the desk, picked up the files, and her eyes went to his portrait again. She wondered why he wanted her to come to his house. She hadn't been expecting this.Sighing, she walked out of the office with the files in her hands. She headed toward Rob’s desk."Go on, you are wasting time, Giselle. The driver is waiting downstairs," Rob said."Okay," she said, letting out a breath as she headed toward the elevator. She pressed the button, and the doors opened. She entered and pressed the button for the ground floor. The door closed, and she was taken down. She walked out of the elevator and exited the building. She spotted a black Escalade with the c
Giselle closed her eyes at the loud sound of Blaire’s voice."He did what now?" Blaire asked, sounding excited.Giselle shook her head. "It is not an exciting thing, Blaire.""Why not? Of course it is. Your grumpy ex-husband kissed you!""He returned to his angry mode right after. I mean, an angrier mode.""Oh," Blaire replied.Giselle heaved a sigh."Seriously?" Blaire asked."Yes. He sent me out of his presence, Blaire. I felt terrible. I felt like the worst thing on earth." Giselle almost cried."Calm down, girlfriend. Don't think too much about it."Giselle sighed again."It is really confusing. I mean, why did he kiss you?" Blaire asked."I don't know. I am confused too. The kiss was..." Giselle paused, thinking about how amazing it had been. His hands around her and the intensity of his lips moving roughly on hers."How was the kiss?" Blaire asked.Giselle sighed. "Unexplainable.""Could it be that he is still in love with you?" Blaire asked."I don't know, Blaire. But he has ma
Hunger.Rough mode.Desire.Passion.Longing.All of it was evident in this least expected kiss. His hands moved down from her cheeks and wrapped around her waist, and she easily gave in, kissing him back and running her fingers through his hair.It was still as soft as the last time she had touched it.He moved her to the other wall, pinning her against it, making her let out an involuntary moan as he continued kissing her. His lips took more of hers hungrily.Roughly.Her entire body was on fire. Her heart was practically dancing. She felt a familiar, long-lost feeling in between her legs. She couldn't believe what was happening. She didn't know what had gotten into him.She didn’t even want to think about it.This was amazing. His touch was always amazing. She had really missed it.She missed him so much. She ran her fingers through his hair more. The last thing she wanted was for this to end.She didn’t want it to end. Please don’t end. She begged internally. His lips moved down,
“What kid?" Xavier asked and terror washed over Giselle. He was looking at her, expecting an answer."No... nothing, sir," she stuttered."What kid are you talking about, Miss Harrison?" he insisted. Her heart felt like it was about to explode."Dude, chill," Mason said.Xavier shot him a glare, silencing him. Mason raised his hands in surrender.Xavier turned his attention back to Giselle.Terror washed over her again. She clenched her phone with her sweaty hand."I am listening, Miss Harrison," he said."I... my..." She cleared her throat, dropping her gaze."Have you lost your ability to speak?" he asked. She shook her head."Then tell me what kids you were talking about.""My... my neighbor's kids," she said, looking up at him.He raised his brows at her."I am their nanny," she lied.He scoffed. "Nanny?"She nodded."You work as a nanny as well," he said. She nodded again."Wow," Mason remarked, making her glance at him.He furrowed his brows, confused. She looked back at Xavier.
