Xavier watched as Giselle stared at him with those beautiful brown eyes that brought back awful memories every time he looked into them. He found it hard to maintain his harshness whenever he met her gaze.

It was difficult, but not impossible.

He didn’t even understand why he had come out here.

There she was. He couldn’t deny it: she was the only woman he had ever loved, the only woman he would do anything for. The fucking betrayer.

A cheap, cheap slut.

She stood before him, looking very lean and annoyingly vulnerable.

Even back then, when she had been with him and he had nothing, she had looked better than the pathetic version of herself she was now. He still wondered how she had lived those past five years to become this awful.

But he didn’t doubt that seeing her for the first time in five years had brought back those buried feelings.

He thought her lover had left her, just as he had suspected. He had likely moved on to the next available housewife to fuck.

“Did you see my ring on her finger? You remember it, don't you? That's my mother's diamond ring.""You had it, but you chose to defile it with your slutty ways.""But it is fine. It is now on the finger of a more beautiful and genuine woman. A celebrity model who suits my class and status."Giselle's heart tightened severely as Xavier’s awful words repeated in her mind. Tears rolled down her cheeks continuously as she focused her gaze on the road through the windows. She was currently on a bus, heading to Blaire’s place. It was late already, past closing hours. The night was cold because of the rain, and she didn't have an umbrella. According to the address Blaire had given her, she figured she would still have to walk in the rain to reach Blaire’s apartment. That was the least of her worries. She hated her life. She hated everything that was happening to her. She hated herself so much and regretted every bit of her actions from that fateful night five years ago. That night had ruined

“Bye, Mum!" Giselle's kids said in unison from the balcony for the fifth time that morning. They were waving at her, along with Blaire, who stood there with them.Giselle waved back before crossing the busy street. The street was a bit rowdy but better than where they used to live. She hadn’t slept well last night. It wasn’t because of the noise outside but because of her awful situation. She shared a room with her kids and spent the night staring at them, thinking about everything. She had started to kill her feelings for Xavier. It was going to take time, but she was trying.Giselle hoped today would be better than yesterday. She had to ignore all the negative thoughts and focus on work.Everything would be fine. She stood at the bus stop with other people, waiting for a bus. She glanced at her tiny wristwatch; it was seven o'clock. Rob had said Xavier came to work around eight, so she had just one hour.Actually, thirty minutes. She needed to be at work before Xavier. She really h

Xavier stood there, staring at his best friend, Mason, and his ex-wife, and all he could feel was rage about Mason’s hands on her. As the woman he once loved stood there, her gaze fixed downward, he couldn't help but think, *The bitch knows what she did.*"Xavier, hey," Mason said, making Xavier look at him."What is going on here?" Xavier asked, his voice sharp.Mason huffed. "Nothing. I was on my way to your office when this beautiful but quite familiar woman bumped into me." He glanced at her, but she kept her gaze down.Xavier scoffed, ignoring Mason's compliment. "Let me guess, you were once her lover?" he asked, noticing the pain flash across her face.He stared at her blankly.Mason scoffed. "Don't be ridiculous, man. I said she looks familiar. Certainly not in the way you're thinking."Xavier hummed. "I see. Well, she has a history of having lovers, which is why I thought of that when you said she is beautiful and familiar." He looked at her again. Her gaze remained downcast,

“Get that thing out of my office right now," Xavier ordered, feeling his blood boil.Giselle picked up the tray with the pieces of the shattered glasses and stood to her feet.Mason did the same. “Are you sure you are okay?" he asked Giselle. "Yes, thank you, sir," she replied, making Xavier scoff as she headed for the door."Babe, I am talking to you." Arabella caught his attention."I'm sorry, sweetie. I just can't tolerate nonsense in my office," he said, glancing at Mason.Mason heaved a sigh and walked towards Xavier's desk. "What the hell is your problem this morning, man?" he asked, taking a seat.Xavier didn’t respond."See what I told you, Arabella? Your husband-to-be woke up on the wrong side of the bed today," Mason said.Xavier threw him a glare."I can see that, Mason," Arabella said, dusting off an invisible speck on his suit and cupping his cheek. He rested his gaze on her hazel eyes, one of the things that had attracted him to her."But he had fun with me on the same

“Thank you," Mason said, smiling at Giselle after she placed his glass of red wine in front of him.She forced a smile as well and was about to walk towards Xavier’s table when..."Seriously?" Xavier asked, making her freeze."You have some nerve, don't you, Miss Harrison?" Xavier said, walking closer. She furrowed her brows. He stood behind his chair, looking at her. Her heart pounded as he continued."How dare you flirt with my best friend in my office, Miss Harrison?" he asked, making her furrow her brows in confusion. What? Flirt? Giselle asked internally. He was looking at her unpleasantly."Xavier, what the hell?" Mason interjected.Xavier raised his finger at him, silencing him.He turned back to Giselle. "I asked you a question.""I wasn't flir—""Are you calling me blind?" he interrupted. She shook her head."Have you no shame, huh?"What was he on about? She didn’t understand..."Are you that starved that you can't help but flirt with any man you see?!" he snapped, glaring

Arabella stood in the middle, dressed in a very revealing red dress with makeup applied perfectly. Her two familiar friends were busy working on her look. She looked stunning."What kept you?" She asked Xavier, who was walking toward her."I am sorry, baby. I was working on something," he replied, moving his hands around her waist and holding her close. He pecked her lips, making Giselle drop her gaze. She stood close to Rob, a bit far from Xavier and his fiancée.Fiancée.Giselle scoffed internally, feeling her heart ache at the word. She recalled all he had said about her. He called her classy and very beautiful. He claimed she was better than Giselle.Better and more beautiful. And she suited his new status.A billionaire CEO and a celebrity model. It didn't suit his new status. She is...Stop, Giselle. As Giselle walked out of the building, the kids called, "Bye Mum!" in unison. They stood on the balcony with Blaire, waving at her."Bye," she waved back.Turning to the road, Giselle walked out of the streets and headed toward the bus stand. A bus stopped just as she arrived. She entered and joined the others who were standing, holding onto the overhead holder.Giselle wore a green knee-length dress. It was old but still fit her well. She felt tired of wearing skirts and shirts and recognized she would have to get used to them—they were like uniforms for the company. The bus kept moving, and everyone inside focused on the road, minding their own business. As they drove past the school Giselle wanted to enroll her kids in, she felt hopeful. It wasn't far from home, and she believed it would be perfect for them. They would resume on Monday. She didn't want them to continue staying at home; they were missing out on so much. Archie asked Giselle as she helped him put on his t-shirt, "Mum, are you going to work today?""Yes. It is Friday, not the weekend yet," she replied, reaching for the comb on the nightstand."Don't go to work today," he whined."Yes, Mum. Don't go. Stay with us," Ayla chimed in, standing next to her with a towel wrapped around her little body."Yes, Mum, stay with us," Archie echoed."I wish I could, but I have to go to work. If I don't work, we won't eat," Giselle explained, using the comb on Archie’s hair."But we do eat. Blaire makes food for us all the time," Ayla pointed out."That's because she is the best. But we can't continue relying on her food. I have to support her financially, and you both have to go to school," Giselle said, placing the comb down. She turned to Ayla. "When are we even going to school?" Ayla asked.Giselle opened her mouth to speak, but Archie interrupted. "Do you want to go to school?""No," Ayla answered."What the...?" "I did everything possible to bring her down academically. I made her go with me to parties I don't even want to go to. I made her drink a lot but still, she always maintained her straight A's!" Cameron yelled, making Ava flinch. Cameron scoffed. "I was the happiest when she told me she won't be able to further her education. That was an opportunity for me to be bigger than her as I have always wanted. I was fucked excited about the news. But she revealed her marriage as well." "Marriage?" Ava asked. Cameron scoffed. "The bitch got married to the most handsome man I have ever since." Ava furrowed her brows in confusion. "Xavier Sheffield. A fucking Greek god. He had nothing when he married her. He was a church rat." Cameron said. Ava gave it a thought. "That should be a great news. I mean, she ended up with a broke man. Isn't it a good thing?" She asked. Cameron scoffed and turned to her. "Why the hell would she even get married before me?" Ava raised her brows. "I am a year

The cold night is refreshing and pleasing. The street lights is igniting the dark nature of the night, adding to its beauty. A black car pulled up in front of a tall fancy building. The front seat door opened. "See you tomorrow," Mr Vincent said to Cameron, who nodded with a smile and got off the car. She looked at him after closing the door. "Your car will be available tomorrow." He said to her. "Thank you very much, sir." Cameron said, smiling. "You are welcome. Good night." He said. She waved a little at him as he drove away. But he said that if anything happens to me, it will be on his company. He doesn't want that. He didn't do it for me," Giselle replied. Blaire scoffed. "Yeah right.
