CHAPTER FIFTY-FIVE (The Search)

The house didn’t change a lot, except that it was missing a few loads. Mum had changed the drabs, painted the ceiling, and got a new cooking gas. I met her making dinner, and although the doctor had said she was fine, I was still seeing some traces of pain in her face. Perhaps because the wound had not fully healed. I dropped my bag on the table and went inside the kitchen to help her. It was a moment I have missed, during those times, laughter always filled the house. Even old granny will come out to check if it is just laughter or that someone has been hurt. She will as ways complain to her sons whenever they visited that her tenants want to bring down her house with laughter.

“Mum!” I called out as I stepped forward, although there was a glint of happiness in her eyes, she still looked surprised. Perhaps because I did not inform her that I’ll be coming.
