To answer Alfred's question, she chatted Carson up. After the pleasantries, she asked, “I hope Alfred had his favorite for lunch?” Nevertheless, Carson, who was thrilled by her level of concern for Alfred, answered, “Yes. Macaroni and cheese. He would not miss it for anything.”

“That's good to hear. Thank you for informing me,” she appreciated.

“How is Pearl?”

“She is fine. If you need her assistance with your wedding preparations, kindly let me know. She would be happy to assist.”

Armed with a surprise for Alfred, she changed her wears, and rested for a while before the family left for the farm.
