Chapter 18: A devil's incarnate

I walked towards Elise, and she yanked me away as if she was fleeing from the devil. She held my hands in a strong grip, pulling me from the entrance, making our way through the crowds of people, and finally letting go of me after we sat down in a private booth.

"Hey, what was that for?” I asked, looking at Elise, to explain her strange behaviour.

"Alexa, why did you say that to him? Do you know him?” Elise asked, her voice barely above a whisper, and then looked around in fear, as if checking if it was safe to talk. I looked at her with question marks written all over my face. She saw my confusion, leaned in close to my ears, and said in a low voice,

“He is the definition of a devil's incarnate. He's violent, cruel, and vicious, and rumours have it that he hates women the most. He can kill without batting an eye. Even though most of the big shots in Ivory City would always try to please him and seem friendly to him on the surface, they avoid stepping on his toes at all costs bec
