Sophie's POV

He threw the car key to me before lifting her up. “Turn the car around, Sophie,”

Why, for Crist's sake, Lucia? Why is she making life difficult for me, for crying out loud? Lucia was just unbelievable.

The keys landed in front of me as I froze, shocked, feeling the weight of his words as they made things worse.

“Come on, Sophie, you don't want her dead, do you?” he spat.

What? Oliver raised his voice at me because of that bitch. He never raised his voice at me ever since we got married until now, and it was all because of this bitch. My heart shattered into a million pieces as I bent down and grabbed the keys.

Tears blurred my sight as I got the car out of the garage. I watched as he shoved her into the back seat and entered, placing her head in his lap. With his hand on her chest.

“Drive!” he ordered. My heart pounded as rage built inside of me. I couldn't believe Oliver raised his voice at me. I bit my lower lips and drove as tears streamed down my face. I couldn't believe Oliver was doing that.

I could hear Lucia panting from behind.

“I'm going to die, Oliver,” she said, strained and slow.

“You won't die Lucia, stay with me, don't close your eyes, OK? Faster please Sophie,” he yelled. Those words made my shattered heart sink into my stomach.

I wish I could be honest with her. I wish I could let Lucia know that I wanted her dead. Arriving at the hospital, Oliver carried her and ran inside the hospital.

“Somebody help me, please!” he shouted, his voice breaking.

A group of nurses rushed towards us with a stretcher and Lucia was placed on it before being rushed to the emergency room.

A nurse stopped Oliver from entering as the door was shut right in his face.

I went and sat in the lobby as I watched Oliver pacing the hallway, frantic with worry. I have never seen Oliver disturbed in my entire life until that day.

After a few minutes, the nurse opened the door, Oliver wiped the beads of sweat that glistened on his forehead as he ran to him.

I quickly stood up and walked to them, desperate to hear if she truly had heart failure, or it was her tricks.

“Is she alright, nurse?” Oliver asked, holding the nurse's hand with his shaking hands.

The nurse pulled his face mask to his chin. “She is alright, she is in a good state now. But please, there is something important I want to tell you. She should be taken good care of as you know the heart is one of the most sensitive organs. Just avoid upsetting her, she should always be given what she needs. Excuse me please,” he said as he walked away.

Oliver's shoulder sagged in relief as he rushed inside.

At that moment my heart ran cold. I wasn't just sure If I wanted her dead or Alive at the moment, all I knew was I hated her and for as long as she keeps intruding into my marriage affairs she would never have a space in my heart and I would make sure I destroy her myself.

I swallowed the painful lump in my throat as I walked inside. There she was, laid on the bed, her eyes half opened with Oliver seated next to her, holding her hands.

Tears welled up in my eyes, I couldn't bear to stand and look at my husband caring for another woman. I couldn't bear the disappointment.

It felt like a slap in the face, like a dagger to the heart. I rushed back to the car. The pain was unbearable. I was shattered, disappointed and heartbroken. I sobbed all I could and after a few minutes Oliver and Lucia walked out of the hospital. Lucia's arm was around his shoulder as he walked her to the car.

I sniffed and wiped my tears from my eyes. Lucia got to the back seat while Oliver sat in the passenger's seat. I drove as the air in the car filled with tension.

****

It had been 3 hours since we returned home and nobody had said anything to anybody, me and Oliver precisely. I had been in bed for the past two hours, expecting Oliver to come and apologize, but he didn't.

It was dinner time, so I forced myself up. Feeling pain all over my body. I freshened up and wore my sleeping gown. I had just ascended the stairs and was about to take the turn that led to the dining area when I heard Lucia's voice. I could barely hear what she was saying, so I moved an inch closer.

Lucia's voice filtered into my ears, not just her voice, her words.

“Don't you think Sophie wanted me dead because how on earth would she hold on when you told her to take the car out? Honestly, ever since I laid my eyes on her, I noticed that she seemed mean to me. Don't you see how she was unconcerned about me earlier?”

“Look, enough with your words. I know Sophie and she is a very kind and caring person,” he said.

“but…”

“Lucia, I said enough,” he declared, cutting her off.

I scoffed, at least he said a word in defense of me in my absence, though that doesn't mean I won't be mad at him.

I cleared my throat to notify them of my arrival. The room went silent as I took my seat. I sat beside Oliver. The chef had already served a roast meat, veggie salad, some noodles and dessert.

I served myself and began eating. I had taken a few slices of meat when I suddenly felt nauseous, something that tastes like bile forcefully raised in my throat.

“Are you alright,” Oliver asked as he noticed my weird behavior.

I quickly excused myself and rushed to the kitchen, straight to the sink. To throw up.
