After hearing that, I switched off the TV and headed to the bathroom. I submerged myself in the bathtub until my mind calmed down, all the while gazing at my clean hands. These very hands were the ones that had tried to stop the bleeding in Steven’s chest. Yet, despite their cleanliness, an overwhelming sense of terror persisted, as if the blood still lingered.

In a state of daze, my room unexpectedly opened without a knock. As I stared at the person who had entered, tears welled up in my eyes and I found myself unable to hold back the sobs that escaped me. The hands I was fixated on became blurred by the stream of tears.
