Gabriel POV
I smile and open my eyes, I dreamt of Lisha last night, and after today those dreams become a reality. Nadia is still in my bed; she rolls over, running her hands across my chest as I get out of bed; I clasp her hand in mine and whisper,
“I have some business I need to attend to, Nadia; stay here; I won't be long.”
She leans on one elbow and looks at me, asking,
“Where are you going, Gabriel?”
I smirk; there’s no way I am telling Nadia what I have planned; after today, I may not have any use for her, but if Cassandra doesn't give me what I want, then I am still going to need Nadia to warm my bed. I bend, kissing her plump lips, and murmur,
“I need to speak to Cassandra; I’ll be back shortly.”
Nadia sighed and then laid back down; she smiled sensually, not taking her eyes off my naked body, and whispered,
“Don't take too long; I may not be here when you return.”
I shrug, enter my bathroom, and have a quick shower; Nadia can say whatever she likes; we both know that unless Cassandra summons her, Nadia will still be lying naked in my bed, waiting for me to return. After my shower, I head toward Cassandra’s chambers; Cassandra has always known my loyalty came with a price, and today I intend to ask for payment. I wanted Lisha from the first moment I saw her; my need to have her has only grown, bordering on obsession. I don't think poorly of myself; Lisha has grown into a beautiful woman and is much stronger than I thought, and the thought of crushing her spirit excites me. I can already see her naked in my bed, begging me to stop hurting her.
I take a deep breath pausing before I enter Cassandra's chamber; she will still be there as she had another visit from the vampire king Andras last night. I don't know what Cassandra’s fascination with Andras is; she is letting Andras drink from her too frequently, weakening her and speeding up her aging process. I was correct; my queen is still in bed; the sheets are tangled around her beautiful body; I sit down beside her, stroking her arm; she stirs, smiling at me, and whispers,
“What is wrong, Gabriel?”
“I need to speak to you, Cassandra,”
She rolls onto her side and sighs,
“What could be so important that you need to wake me this early in the morning?”
I smirk,
“I want the dark Fae, Lisha, Allana’s granddaughter.”
Her mouth quirks in annoyance, and her tone is sharp when she says,
“You woke me up to tell me that? What is the matter with you, Gabriel?”
I get off her bed and hiss,
“I always said I would help you get the throne, but I expected payment.”
Cassandra’s hair falls over her shoulders, covering her breasts when she sits up, asking,
“What is so special about her?”
I say the first thing that comes to my mind,
“She reminds me of Allana.”
Cassandra huffs,
“So, that explains nothing. You had better be more precise if you want me to agree to this.”
“Fine, Cassandra, I want to crush her spirit, fuck her senseless and have her bow at my feet.”
Cassandra smiles and lays back on the bed; her voice is sensual when she whispers.
“I guess you won't be sharing my bed anymore if I let you have her, Gabriel.”
I grin, running my eyes along her beautiful curves, and murmur,
“I will always have time to share your bed, Cassandra.”
“Are you in love with her?”
I hate admitting weakness to anyone, least of all Cassandra; I clench my teeth and hiss,
”For fucksake, Cassandra, I don't want to mate the girl; I need to own her, break her will, crush her spirit.”
Cassandra’s chuckle is malicious as she says,
“She is close to eighteen. Her magic will need to be bound again.”
I raise my eyebrows,
“Will binding her magic cause her pain?”
Cassandra’s smile answers my question. I bend, kissing her softly on her mouth, and grimace when I remember Andras probably had his dick in her mouth last night. When I go to leave, Cassandra asks,
“Where are you going, Gabriel?”
“To get my prize, Cassandra.”
She chuckles,
“I forgot how impatient you were when you wanted something, Gabriel.”
It doesn't take long to reach the courtyard; Anthony, one of my most trusted friends, runs toward me, stammering.
“The girl is gone, Gabriel, I came to check on her like you wanted me to, and she was not here.”
I look down at him and snarl,
“What the fuck are you saying? She has to be here; the queen has given her to me.”
Anthony holds his hands in front of his body and backs away; I stalk over to the post-Lisha was tied to last night. My head starts to pound as the blood rushes through my veins, and red-hot rage courses inside me. I have waited four fucking years to claim Lisha, and when I finally have her in my grasp, she is not fucking here. I bend, picking up the ropes that bound her to the post, and hiss,
“The fucking rope has been cut. Someone has helped her escape.”
Cassandra is the only one powerful enough to pull this off, that fucking bitch; how could she do this to me. All the years I have stood by her, she fucks me over by giving Lisha to someone else. I should have known Cassandra was up to something; she was too compliant this morning. There's only one thing on my mind now, go back to Cassandra’s chambers and choke the life out of the bitch until she tells me the truth. I storm into Cassandra’s chambers; the door slams against the wall; Cassandra turns, a startled expression on her face, and says,
“Really, Gabriel, twice in one morning, your manners are appalling.”
I take a step toward her and sneer,
“Where is Lisha, Cassandra?”
Her eyes widen in shock; she steps backward.
“How would I know? She is your problem now, not mine.”
I pace the room, trying to control my anger, as I say.
“She is fucking gone. I want her back.”
Cassandra placed her arm on my shoulder and whispered.
“Settle down, Gabriel; you are not thinking clearly. You must know I wouldn't betray you by doing this; the girl could not have gotten far.”
I know my anger is clouding my judgment; I only hear every second word Cassandra says; her words are not getting through to me. She runs her fingers down my back, trying to calm me, and whispers,
“I will send a search party to find her for you, Gabriel.”
I sigh and sit on her bed; she follows and sits down beside me; as I say,
“I want to go with them, Cassandra. I will kill whoever has taken her from me.”
“How many men would you like?”
“We will be faster if it is a small search party; two men and I will be sufficient,”
Cassandra smiles and embraces me tightly.
“I will ask Andras for his help to locate her.”
The muscle in my jaw flicks angrily when I hiss,
“I don't want that bastard's help. I will not be indebted to him.”
Cassandra laces her fingers through mine,
“You won't be Gabriel. I will pay the price he asks for his help.”
I frown,
“Why would you do that for me, Cassandra.”
She chuckles,
“You have always been loyal to me, Gabriel; it's the least I can do for our friendship.”
I look at my queen correctly for the first time in years. I have loved her since we were children. Cassandra's blue eyes sparkled as she said,
“Just give me a week to talk to Andras for you, Gabriel; I can ask him to speak to the werewolf king to see if he knows anything.”
I knew what Cassandra asked of me was the quickest way to find Lisha; when I find out who has taken Lisha, I would skin them alive in front of her. If Lisha thinks she is out of my reach, she is sadly mistaken; I will search the ends of this earth until I find the bitch.
Cassandra POV
To say I am surprised by Gabriel's visit this morning is an understatement; I had seen him constantly stroking Lisha like she was his fucking pet, but regardless of what he told me, I knew his feelings went much more profound than he had let on. Thank the goddess. I have managed to stop him from rushing out of my realm and looking for her; I know Allana is behind Lisha’s escape, but I don't know who helped her. There’s no doubt in my mind that Lisha is being taken back to Allana’s realm, but why didn't Allana alert me of her plans?
I am still deep in thought when Shayla, Dana, and Nadia enter my chambers; my three ladies are like pets; stroke their hair and show them a little attention, and they will do anything I want. I won't lie; Nadia did shock me when she approached one of my guards about eliminating Lisha; as soon as she left her side, he came straight to me, telling me what Nadia had asked him to do. Nadia is desperate for Gabriel's attention; she would do anything he asked of her; this morning's conversation with Gabriel will give me the perfect weapon to use against Nadia. I can hear Gabriel training the warriors in the courtyard below my balcony; Nadia's lips tug up in a small smile as she walks toward the window and looks out across the yard; she looks stunning today, which only irritates the shit out of me further. My lips curl in disgust, my stomach turns, and I wouldn't say I like seeing her happy.
“Nadia, come here. I wish to speak to you.”
She smiles dreamily as she approaches me, asking,
“What can I do for you, my queen?”
I smile,
“Have you seen Gabriel this morning?”
She blushes delicately and nods.
“Yes.”
I raise my perfectly arched eyebrow and ask.
“I wondered your thoughts about a small matter I discussed with Gabriel earlier today.”
Nalia’s blue eyes sparkle with excitement; I smirk; this will be too easy. Nadia thinks Gabriel is in love with her. So many different emotions cross her face while she waits for me to say something. Shayla and Dana are standing on the other side of the room; they look at Nadia and then at me with puzzled expressions. I laugh softly and motion them to my side; Nadia's eyes flick nervously from me to Shayla and then dana before she plucks up the courage to ask,
“What did Gabriel discuss with you, My queen.”
I sigh and wait for her to compose herself and then say,
“Gabriel wants to claim Lisha for himself?”
Nadia’s eyes glisten with tears, and her voice trembles with uncertainty as she stammers,
“No, it is not true. Gabriel doesn't want Lisha; he has me; why would he want her?”
Shayla and Dana start chuckling, watching as the tears roll down Nadia’s face. I take Nadia’s hand in mine and whisper.
“I am so sorry, Nadia; I thought he would have already discussed his plans with you.”
Nadia dabs her eyes with a tissue before she says,
“No, No, he did not, my queen. Why would he want Lisha?”
“Gabriel is a very virile man Nadia; maybe one woman is not enough to satisfy him.”
Nadia's eyes widen in horror; she snatches her hand back; Shayla and Dana can no longer control themselves, and they burst out laughing. Nadia turns on them, snarling,
“I am enough for Gabriel; why would he take a filthy Fae to his bed.”
I snicker and lean back on the bed as I sneer.
“You're not doing something right, Nadia; otherwise, he wouldn't be claiming another woman.”
Nadia can no longer control herself she sobs and rushes out of the room. Dana and Shayla shriek with laughter; these two have always been my favorites. Shayla sits beside me on the bed and whispers,
“What did Nadia do to anger you?”
I shrug,
“She thought she could go behind my back and convince one of my guards to kill Lisha.”
Dana chuckles,
“You let her off lightly.”
Both women burst out laughing again when I sighed dramatically and murmured,
“I know I must be getting soft in my old age.
Dana, Shayla, and I spent the remainder of the day in the gardens surrounding the castle; I had just returned to my chambers when Andras wrapped his arms around my waist and whispered,
“Have you missed me, Cassandra?”
I lean into him and murmur.
“Of course I have.”
He chuckles,
“You are so full of shit Cassandra; you would say and do anything to get what you want.”
I giggle,
“That's why we get on so well. We are the same, you and i.”
He turns me to face him and asks,
“Why did you want to speak to me.”
Nerves flutter in my stomach when I look at Andras; he taps his foot impatiently, and my words come out in a rush as I say,
“Would you have any knowledge of Allana’s granddaughter's whereabouts?”
Andras’s eyes flash red he hisses, causing me to step away from him hastily, his voice shaking with rage when he snarls,
“You lost the fucking girl.”
“I didn't lose her, Andras someone took her.”
“Who took her?”
I blow out a shaky breath and whisper,
“If I knew that, I would know where she is and would not be asking for your help Andras.”
His mouth tightens in anger,
“So now you want me to find her and bring her back, do you?”
“No, I just need you to ask Damien if he has heard anything before Gabriel starts looking for her.”
He clenches his teeth,
“So this favor is for your pet guard, not you. Is that what you are saying?”
“Yes, please, Andras, I will do anything you ask.”
Fear runs through me when Andras chuckles,
“This will cost you dearly, Cassandra.”
Andras’s speed always surprises me; his nails dig into my flesh when he grabs my arm with one hand, the other hand grips my hair tightly, rips my head to one side then, and then sinks his teeth in my neck. Andras has never been this cruel to me; the pain is excruciating, the room starts to spin, and my limbs grow heavy. I scream, collapsing on the floor when he pushes me away from him. My voice comes out weak when I whisper,
“You have taken too much of my blood Andras.”
Andras snarls,
“You will recover, Cassandra. Don't call on me again; this is the last favor I will do for you.”
My heart breaks; I didn't realize until now that I had started to develop feelings for him; I try to grab his leg and whisper,
“We have an alliance, Andras. We always help each other”
His voice is cold when he sneers,
“Our alliance is over, Cassandra; you are on your own”
I crawl over to the bed; my breathing is shallow. I have no strength left; my body is in shock due to the amount of blood I have lost. Gabriel's face appears in front of me; he bends, wiping my hair from my face, and murmurs,
“Keep still; let me help you.”
I sigh as his muscular arms lift me bridal style and place me on the bed; Gabriel's voice sounds distant as he murmurs,
“I will stay and ensure no one sees you like this.”
I try to smile, start to drift into an exhausted sleep, and mutter,
“What would I do without you, Gabriel?”The last thing I see is Gabriel bending over me. He brushes his lips against mine, then says,
“Go to sleep; you will feel better after you sleep, Cassandra.”
Hi, this chapter is rather long, but since it's in the free chapters, I had hoped you wouldn't mind. Thanks for reading, and please don't hesitate to comment, drop a gem, or leave a review. XXXX
Lisha POV I wake to the smell of coffee brewing; Tyler is looking out the window, deep in thought. He hasn't bothered to put a shirt on. My eyes drift from his muscular shoulders, running down the curve of his back to where his jeans hang loosely on his hips, covering his incredible arse and thick, muscular thighs. I have always been attracted to him. I didn't realize until I saw him again that Tyler was my mate. If Tyler had been Fae, I would have felt the pull off our mate bond immediately; because he is a werewolf, our bond will need time to strengthen. I stretch slowly and sigh with pleasure; Tyler turns, smiling his sexy half-smile, the one that turns one side of his incredible mouth up. My eyes drift across his muscular chest to his biceps, down his stomach. I smirk when I notice his adonis belt screaming a little on the inside as my need to touch him grows. Fuck, this man is a god. All I can think of is running my tongue along every inch of him. He wiggles his eyebrows cheekil
Lisha POV When Skyla and Xavier leave, I sit on the bed, holding my head in my hands. Tyler touches me on my shoulder and asks, “Are you alright, Lisha?” My lips tremble as I try to smile, “I need to go home.” Tyler looked hurt at my words; his voice was soft when he asked, “Why, Lisha, don't you want to stay here with me?” “It's not forever, Tyler, and I want you to come; I just need to say goodbye to my mother.” He sits down and embraces me, whispering, “Let’s go before anyone else decides they need to talk to us.” I never grieved for my mother in the four years I was in the Seelie realm. It took all my time and energy to stay alive. My mother was one of the most beautiful women I have ever had the privilege to know. Her beauty was not only in her looks but also in her soul. She never had a bad word to say about anyone, never judged anyone, and welcomed anyone into our home. I smile when we walk into the front yard of my childhood home, I can see my mother bending over h
Lisha POV We have been home for nearly a week, and Allana still hasn't returned; to make things worse, whenever Tyler and I try to get a moment alone, he is needed elsewhere; I am starting to think the universe is working against us, and will stop at nothing to keep us apart. I pace up and down the kitchen, waiting for Tyler to return from another errand Mathew has sent him on. If I don't do something, Tyler and I will never get a moment's peace; there’s so much I have to discuss with him. I grab a bag and pack some clothes for Tyler and myself; I have decided to take Tyler to Allana’s cave. After carrying the bags to the porch, I sit on the steps, not taking my eyes off the lane that leads to our house; hopefully, I can talk to Tyler alone without interruption and make him see how unprepared we are and that attacking Cassandra and Andras would be a senseless waste of all our lives, there’s no doubt in my mind that we would lose. When I see Tyler approaching the house, I pick the bag
Allana POV I smiled when I entered my cave; Lisha and Tyler's scent was everywhere. I make myself a coffee before walking over to the bed, raising my eyebrow when I realize what they have been doing. I may have some fun with this; I won't get another chance. I clear my throat noisily. Lisha stirs, and opening her eyes, she squeals. Tyler jumps out of bed, ready to protect her, forgetting he is naked, “My Tyler, haven't you grown into a large man.” He blushes as he tries to cover himself with his hands. I chuckle, looking at Lisha, “Coffee is ready if either of you is interested.” Wiggling my eyebrows at Tyler, I smile, “You don't have to get dressed if you don't want to, Tyler.” Lisha groans as she sits up, “Omg, Allana, stop embarrassing Tyler, please.” I walk away laughing. Once Lisha is dressed, she hugs me. I cuddle her back, saying. “Tyler has not marked you, Lisha?” She glares at me, “I haven't seen you for four years, and that's the first thing you say to me.” I c
Lisha POV I can't stop thinking about what Allana has told me. Cassandra needed to be stopped, and I knew that, but now was not the right time. My anger rises, and my magic flows through me; the power is intoxicating. The wind around me gets stronger, leaves fly into the air, and trees start to bend. I can feel I am beginning to lose control when Tyler puts his arms around me; I can barely hear him as he says, “You need to breathe, Lisha. Listen to my voice; come back to me.” He runs soft kisses down my neck, my body responds to his touch, and I relax against him as my control returns. Skyla and Xavier walk over to us when we reach the village outskirts. I look at Skyla properly for the first time since I returned home. Skyla has changed; she still looks like the Skyla I know, only now her skin glows in the sunlight, and her hair looks like silk and falls down the middle of her back. When she walks, she looks like she glides across the ground. Skyla s beauty and grace are breatht
Lisha POV I wake up feeling hot and restless, and I need to move. I get out of bed, throwing a pair of yoga pants and a sports bra before leaving the cabin. I am scared I am going to hurt someone. I run through the forest until I can no longer hear any werewolves from the village. Everything comes rushing back to me, my mother being murdered, finding out that Andras and Cassandra killed my father, and the abuse I dealt with at the Seelie court. My legs give way from under me; I can't run anymore; I sit on the forest floor, digging my hands into the ground. Sobs wracked my body; I was so glad to be home; all I want is to spend my life here with Tyler. Why can't Tyler, Xavier, and Skyla see what they are trying to do will get us all killed, and why is Allana encouraging them? Allana has told people for years that I will have immense power when I turn eighteen. Where is it? I am starting to doubt everything she has ever told me. I can't hold it anymore. I feel like I am going crazy. I
Lisha POV The werewolf takes us to the great hall where King Damian is waiting for us. My jaw hits the floor when I see him. He is enormous, at least six foot seven inches tall. I can see the muscles on his chest, shoulders, and biceps straining against his shirt when he moves. The animal magnetism that comes from him is overpowering. His long brown hair is loose and falls in heavy waves to his chest, his beard is cropped short against his rugged jaw, and his deep-set dark brown eyes sparkle with mischief as he looks at Allana. He smiles before saying, “It has been a long time Allana.” His voice is deep and husky; everything about the man is sensual. Allana inclines her head at him, giving him a flirtatious smile as she saunters closer and kisses his cheek. “Hello, Damian; it's good to see you again.” “You are still as beautiful as ever, Allana.” She giggles at him, saying, “And your still as handsome as ever, Damian.” I have to admit my grandmother has excellent taste in men
Allana POV I grew up with Queen Belladonna, playing on the castle grounds; she was always a gorgeous woman. She had the classical beauty of the Unseelie royal bloodline, long silky straight black hair. Heart-shaped face, large ebony eyes with high cheekbones, full lips, and flawless golden skin. She was tall and slim in build. Belladonna was one of the most powerful queens the Unseelie had ever seen. Her charisma pulled people to her; when she spoke, no one could look away from her; she demanded attention and received it. The average life span for Fae is four hundred and fifty years, some Fae has lived to be six hundred years old, but they are rare. My mate Nathaniel was an old Fae when I met him. I loved him dearly. He was my soul mate, and when he died, I was crushed. I did not want to go on living. I never got to tell him he was going to be a father. Nathaniel always wanted a son. We did not think I could conceive because of Nathaniel's age. Belladonna realized I was pregnant bef
Lisha POV It's been two years since Allana’s death, Tyler has never asked how it was possible I left the Unseelie realm and returned home with him, and I have never told him. Damian’s and my son Nate was born a couple of months after we returned home; he is a beautiful little boy with the same deep-set chocolate brown eyes as his father, olive skin, and a head full of curly brown hair. Nate and Asher will grow into extremely handsome men; I can see them breaking many hearts before they find their true mates. Nate and Asher adore Tyler, and he is a fantastic father; he treats both our boys as his own. The first thing Tyler, Xavier, Skyla, Tiffany, and I did was build a meeting house in the center of the four realms. Every three months, we come together as representatives for our species and discuss any issues that may arise. Each kingdom has two representatives for the Unseelie, Zane and I; the werewolves, Tyler and Mateo; the vampires, Xavier and Skyla; and the Unseelie, Tiffany, an
Tyler POV Lisha winks at me and whispers, “No matter what happens, hold the circle.” She moved closer to Allana while reaching behind her back and placing my hand in Skyla’s. A dense fog was rolling in from every direction; a cold chill crept up my back, and the hairs on my neck and arms stood up. I knew there was someone behind me, but I didn't dare to turn my head and have a look. Lisha smirked as the fog grew thicker and denser; Allana was so confident in her abilities that she refused to consider for one moment we could beat her. Allana hissed, her eyes glancing at each of us as she snarled, “You can't beat me, you foolish girl.” Lisha's laughed softly. Only the people closest to her knew what that particular laugh meant; it always sent shivers down my spine. She looked at Allana and whispered, “I am not trying to beat you, Allana; you wanted power, and I am going to give it to you.” Allana's eyes narrowed as she stared at Lisha, her lips twisting into an ugly smile as
Lisha POV Tyler and I woke early, we had a feeling that someone had betrayed us, and we were right. Xavier, Skyla, Tyler, and I knew what was coming, but no one else did; the fewer who knew what we intended to do, the better. Tyler made short work of Anton, the warrior who told Allana we were here; he was one of Dimitri’s wolves, I knew we should have killed the lot of them when we killed Dimitri, but Tyler wanted to believe that they were loyal to us, so he did. Sometimes it's better to learn the hard way than be made aware of the truth by someone else, even if you love that person wholeheartedly. The day we have been waiting for is finally here; we leave Mathew's cabin under cover of darkness. The one hundred wolves Tyler brought with him will stay hidden inside Mathew's village until everyone else arrives. Then they will join us in the procession to where Allana, Xavier, and Skyla were supposed to be waiting for us. We could hear Allana’s people getting organized for everyone to
Xavier POV Allana’s guards line the path leading up to her castle, each one holds a staff with a purple and black flag on the top of it, and Allana is standing regally at the bottom of the castle steps, a sweet smile on her face as she watches Skyla and I walk toward her. Skyla tugs on my shirt sleeve, murmuring, “You had better wipe that disgusted look off your face before we get too close to her.” I give myself a shake and remember why we are here, “She extravagant.” Skyla chuckles, “That she is; now smile sweetly for your bitch of a grandmother and lavish her with praise.” Allana takes a step closer to us, opening her arms wide; embracing Skyla and then me as she says, “I am so glad you are here; come inside, and I will give you a tour of my home.” The beauty of the castle and grounds are breathtaking; gardens are scattered everywhere, filled with flowers of every color and description imaginable. The castle itself has been constructed out of white limestone, and heav
Tyler POV Xavier glanced back over his shoulder at me once before Skyla, his vampires, and he stepped into Allana’s realm, my wolves and I didn't have to wait long before my father stood before me, motioning for us to follow him. I whispered, “Won't Allana become suspicious if our not with Xavier?” He shakes his head, “No, she only required Zane to escort Xavier, Skyla, and his vampires into the realm.” I grinned, “How is Lisha?” He smiled, “Good, she is safely hidden inside my cabin.” After my wolves were taken to their quarters, I left them in my father's care and went to see Lisha. Lilly opened the door of my father's house and stepped to one side before leaving; I frowned, “Where are you going, Lilly?” Lilly hesitated before glancing up at me and murmuring, “I thought you and Lisha might like some time alone.” I smirked and moved out of her way; Lilly is and has always been one of the worst liars I have ever met, Lisha has been up to something, and I need to fin
Lilly POV Lisha smiled as she walked toward us; when I asked her what had happened, she frowned and said, “You saw what happened, Lilly.” I shook my head.“No, we couldn't see or hear anything.” She smirked, “That's probably for the best.” This is her answer; that's probably for the best; what the hell is that supposed to mean? I grabbed Lisha’s arm as she went to walk past me and whispered, “Are you going to me? What happened in there, Lisha?” She blew out a breath and whispered, “It's getting light, Lilly. We need to get back to Mathews.” I growled, “How the hell am I supposed to protect you if you don't tell me anything.” Lisha glanced back the way she came for a moment, then turned back to me and whispered, “When we get back to Mathew's house, I will tell you everything, but if we don't go now, someone will see us.” Lisha raised her eyebrows and inclined her head in Zane and Matthew's direction; there was no point in arguing with her any longer; her expression alone
Lisha POV Lilly is correct; the forest feels cold and unwelcoming as we follow Zane deeper into the woods. Every so often, I catch a glimpse of glowing eyes peering back at us; I didn't say anything to Zane at first because of thought I was seeing things, but the last ones I saw were a little too close for comfort as far as I am concerned. I swear under my breath and increase my pace so I can walk beside him. The paths narrow, and it infuriates me further when I keep hitting my head on the tree's low-hanging branches. How fucking long has it been since anyone walked this trail? I grab hold of Zane's arm, causing him to stop mid-step and ask, “I thought you said no one would see us?” He glances at the trees surrounding us and murmurs, “The people here won't hurt us.” I growl, “What fucking people, Zane.” He shrugs, “The banished, the Fae that didn't support Allana, she banished them all to this part of the forest.” “Why here.” He raises his eyes, looking toward a cl
Tyler POV The air is electrifying as my wolves prepare to leave our territory, so many of them are still holding grudges against the Unseelie, I will have to keep a tight reign on them, so this doesn't turn into a total blood bath. Mateo is the only member of my pack who is similar in size and appearance to Theo; he will be the one to lead a hundred of my wolves into Allana’s realm. If he doesn't get too close to her, we will be able to fool her for a short time, at least. Not having Lisha here is hard; I know we argue sometimes, but what couple doesn't? It's all part of getting to know each other again. Having a bit of space from each other has helped me realize that if Lisha has to stay in the Unseelie lands until she has the baby, I will stay there with her. I know Mateo will take care of my wolves until we can work something else out. This time when Xavier appeared at my side, he didn't startle me; I sensed him coming before he arrived. He raises his eyebrows in surprise, asking,
Lilly POVI never thought there would be a time when I would be scared of anyone, but Lisha is starting to scare me to death. Since we arrived here, it's been like her mind is elsewhere, her eyes vacant, and the dreams, it doesn't matter if it's day or night, every time she falls asleep, she wakes up screaming and fighting against some unknown force. I can see and feel her changing; my nerves are shot, and I pray to the moon goddess every chance I get pleading with her to do something, anything to stop Lisha from falling into madness. I can't leave her. I love her too much, and in the back of my mind is the thought that Tyler will arrive tomorrow morning. Please, goddess let her hold onto her sanity until he comes, they say love conquers all, so if anyone can pull Lisha out of the pits of despair, it will be Tyler. The creaking of the trapdoor alerts me to the fact that Mathew is home; he cautiously descends the stairs, his voice hushed as he asks, “How is she doing?” I blow out a
