A worry filled Jean's mind.
Almost impossible to see, the weathered lines on her hands were deep cuts from years of campaigning. A little extra gleam in her brow, a little more tension in her gaze, were signs that were nearly impossible to see.
Legionnaire Historia had noticed. After so many years of serving in the imperial force, she was able to recognize subtle changes in her commander. As she tightened her shoulders, she continually thumbed the edge of her well-known blade, testing an edge that she had kept razor-sharp for more than twenty years.
Warriors do grow old very slowly compared to normal people. Because of the rich mana and aura flowing through their veins, they lived twice as long as other people.
However, they do not.
Most warriors die before they have lived half the time of the average person.
In the various empires of today, those who are able to survive and overcome the dangers are the ones standing at the top.

The group emerged from the dungeon with joyous faces. The artefact that they had acquired was of Tier III with capabilities that will prove to be invaluable in combat. They hardly get anything like that from the multiple dungeon runs they have had. The discovery of something of that calibre was very rare. In most cases, they will have to be quite lucky to get a Tier IV when clearing dungeons. To get Tier III and higher artefacts, they had to either buy them from an auction or have them cleared through much stronger dungeons which, in their case, was more of a waste of resources than they would gain from selling the artefact. In general, they were not strong enough as a group to conquer a high ranking dungeon. As everyone walked out of the dungeon with pride for gaining a rare item for the first time, Amy, on the other hand, was panting lightly. She was exhausted and no one knew the reason for it. Some would joke behind her back that she took on a q
"We did it!" Adelaine shouted as she and her team killed the boss of the dungeon.Dungeon of the Rare Rank Heart of the Ocean.Laura screamed with excitement, "It's been such a long weekkkkk!"."Adelaine, what level have you reached now?! Show me! Show me!" Laura and the rest of the team stared at Adelaine with gleaming eyes."I'll show you guys. Just be patient and don't show those hungry looks at me!" In attempting to go as far away as I can from that beast I'm forced to push my way through the innumerable monsters behind me, looking at the Basilisk as if they have met their arch enemy.Basilisks were no ally to us, monsters, as this proved.Eventually, I get past the worst of the crowd and begin to make better progress. During that time, I probably fled for around thirty minutes. There was a lot of space here, it was truly enormous. It was frightening how an underground dungeon floor could be so big.It would have taken a great deal longer if I hadn't dashed to finish.[Stealth(Mystic)>Stealth(Unique)][Dash(Rare)>Dash(Elite)]About time! It seems like forever since I advanced my skills! It is just when you think you are the strongest monster in the area that something like that lizard shows up!I had thought of ways to kill that monster all this time, but now that I think about it, there is no way I can defeat it.
A thunderous screech blasts the ear of everyone present. As if my eardrums had been punched, the loud sonic wave is so intense.Infected by my command, Gnoll leaps up and raises both hands over his head to hammer down on the enemy with his great axe.The Knight pales in fright when he sees this massive monster burst out, leaping towards them in just a few seconds. As he hid behind a human just arriving, he screamed something in their language.Instantly, I am relieved of the pressure.Hopefully, this will buy me time to hide.Gnoll descends with his massive body, allowing all of his mass to go toward the target. When he hammers down with his axe, a huge impact is made, slamming into his enemies like meteors.BOOM!It is at this time that I am running along with the mix of monsters toward one of the human camps. The main purpose of my attack wasn't to hurt the person who just got here but to buy time to escape.I could nev
It has been two and a half days since the group entered the barrier set up by the sorceress of the Kingdom of Beast."We will make it by night." "We are almost there."It's incredible though, Sir Evans' friend has the strength to build a barrier that makes a journey of just a few hours into one that takes three days.""It's only that she made a shortcut for me to visit her village. Otherwise, we would have been circling the place for days and never get anywhere near it." Evan responded with a sense of pride."That's pretty scary.""My curiosity is: how did you come to know her?""The story is long. I once travelled to this continent with my father as a child. It was a desperate time for the Beastmen. We stumbled upon her village by accident. My father saw that they needed help really badly but was unwilling to request it from us humans. In the end, he helped save a lot of Beastmen. It was at that point that a man
Having my second life become a battle of oblivion wasn't what I had in mind, but maybe not everything works out as planned, so I guess it's inevitable. It isn't my fault that I was born as an imp instead of a human, but hey, no point moaning. When the beast finally grazed forward, I felt a tingle of fear run through my body as the impossibly wide mouth of the basilisk emerged. No denying it, even though the human girl was supposed to be stronger, I am not convinced at the moment. While she might be more powerful and rank than the basilisk, how on earth can she possibly kill a beast the size of a mansion. Both of them evaluated each other, and both knew that a mistake could end everything. However, the rest of the humans stayed as far away from the basilisk as possible, battling the rest of the monsters instead. As a few mages prepare to fire at the basilisk at the far end, another group of mages joins them. That seems to be their leve
Monsters are able to sense it likewise, as I am able to do using my heat sense. Additionally, my monster sense told me there would soon be a larger wave of monsters arriving here than the previous ones.It seems like the walls of the dungeon are glistening more and more by the moment as if they have been transformed into blinding lights. Another thing is that, even without touching my element, my body absorbs mana, hot flowing mana as if I were standing on a warm stream. However, I knew that woman was still here, even though I could not see her. She might have gone to another camp plagued with monsters.Having some rest now should improve my skills, so let's see what kind of skills I have. As for the system box, I still have it after I've finished the objective. It never occurred to me that my hands would be tainted with blood from so many people. Let's just say it's the fittest who survive. It would have been easy to just go home and
Reus had exhausted himself. As the young water mage has been repeatedly rung dry over the last week, he has expended every ounce of mental effort until his mind feels like it is on fire and blood is oozing out of his eyes. In spite of his distress, the legionnaire in charge of his squad merely gave him a cold gaze and ordered him to rest for a while. In his five minutes of free time, he would have relaxed in the mana pool in the camp before going back into formation to help the others. As it was the first time Reus had ever defended a wave, he wasn't sure what he'd seen was normal or not. However, what he'd seen in the wave had drastically altered his perception of the dungeon... This was his first time experiencing dungeons where these many lives were lost; it was not like any other time. Every year, a few people are killed in the dungeons, and that's to be expected considering it is an area full of monsters. It never occurred to
