I sat alone in my car, staring at the office building. I couldn't bring myself to go in yet.

The events of yesterday with Nikolai continued to play in my head.

I felt awful. Like it was my fault that everything happened the way it did.

I suppose it wasn't fair that I suddenly turned my back on him because I couldn't control myself.

But having seen him like that yesterday... it felt like a different Nikolai.

And this version scared the shit out of me. Even worse, I'd have to see him again too.

My alarm went off, sending me jumping. I bumped my head into the top of the car.

"Ouch!" I muttered, rubbing my head. It was time to go in, I couldn't delay it any longer.

I walked in slowly. The first thing I noticed when I entered my office was Maggie.

She was standing in front of her desk, not sitting. That was already strange in itself.
