How are you liking this book so far?
Scarlet POV “How would you feel to learn that she was hired to steal them back from you?” Mr. Smith inquired. This is crazy. Jaxson must have contacted Jonathan about this and to even have that list pisses me off. He would have had to go through my phone and through my email to fully get it. Time and effort went into this and all of this was behind my back. I prided myself on confidentiality and he is blowing it. Alpha Jared looked shocked, “Hired to steal it?” He asked more to himself than to anyone. “Yes, that is what I just said.” Mr. Smith stated as he waited for Alpha Jared to process what he asked. “Do you have proof?” Alpha Jared inquired suddenly. “I think I will ask the questions here. Do you realize that the law states that until someone is marked and mated, and/or not a member of your pack, you do not have the authority to discipline without the consent of their Alpha?” Mr. Smith blasted Alpha Jared. “Since she was mine, via her dad, I had every right to handle the s
Jaxson POV The whole courtroom just stared at Scarlet. She said it like it was nothing. Like it was just another day, a walk in the park. Most of these people will and would not ever understand what it meant to be tortured, beaten or abused in anyway. But the ones who know… know. “Thank you, Luna Scarlet. I believe we heard enough.” “May we address the witness now?” Mr. Wilson stood up and started gathering his papers like knew something we didn’t. “I suggest you tread lightly.” Councilman Mitch warned. “Luna Scarlet, you admit you broke into Alpha Jared’s office?” Mr. Wilson asked. “Broke into'' is one way to put it. I would say we just sort of walked it. There was basically no security at the border so scaling was fun and then we practically just walked right in.” Scarlet was throwing it in his face how easy she did this. It made me so proud of her. “Are you aware that that is against the law?” Mr. Wilson pressed, ignoring her comments. “Actually, There is no law that state
Scarlet POV “I challenge you, Alpha Jaxson, for the title of Alpha!” I heard a male voice bellow out from the crowd of men that stood in front of the packhouse door. My heart rate accelerated as the thought of this actually happening. I mean, when Mason stated that fact, I mentally knew that but I emotionally wasn’t ready for it. Knowing in your heart that someone can win a fight doesn’t make it easier to watch the fight. Glancing out the window, I saw Jaxson crack his knuckles and nod his head in agreement. “First, I accept your challenge. Second, no one is to lay a hand on my mate or anyone else I brought with me while these challenges are going on. Third, show me your fighting ring.” Jaxson announced. Mason walked with Jaxson, I assume for protection but I was not about to be left behind. Opening the car door, I saw Jaxson stiffen and halt. Getting out, I started walking toward Jaxson. I felt Ted behind me as I walked to Jaxson and dozens of eyes from the group of guys. Jaxso
Jaxson POV Scarlet pulled the book back and the whole thing protested as it moved. Opening up to reveal a dark and dingy tunnel. Holy fuck! I haven’t seen something like this in ages. There appeared to be lanterns lining the wall about five feet apart and it went on into nothingness. “Ready?” Scarlet was still royally pissed at me. I will need to make this up to her and figure things out. This is not how I want my future to go. “Yes doll.” I flirted as I gave her a half grin. She rolled her eyes at me and started walking into the tunnel. “Do you know how to turn these on?” flicking the lantern, and looking for a switch. “Um, no but let me see…” Scarlet trailed off as she went back to the office. I heard some papers being moved. My face was inches from the lantern trying to find a switch when suddenly, they turned on. “Got it!” Flinching hard, I rubbed my eyes as all I saw was a little ball of light in my vision. “I’m blinded.” I muttered as water spilled from my eyes. Mason w
Scarlet POV I just finished throwing up for the third time this morning. Jaxson was in his office having a meeting with Jessy and I was resting my head on the porcelain God. The cool seat felt good against the clamminess of my skin. The bathroom door opened to Jennifer walking in. “You okay?” “Don’t I look okay?” I said sarcastically. My voice echoed in the toilet. Jennifer smiled at me. She grabbed a washcloth and got it wet under some water. Ringing out the extra water, she came over and washed the sweat off my face. “You’re pale.” “Pregnancy sucks. Why can’t you just go to the store and buy a kid?” I asked, halfway joking. “You can, it’s called adoption.” Jennifer laughed. “That isn’t biologically your child though.” I challenged back. “True. It will be worth it, I am sure.” She gave me an empathetic smile. “Can I ask you a personal question?” “You want to know why I am not having kids?” Jennifer guessed. “Yeah. You don’t have to answer if you don’t want to.” “No, it
Jaxson POV It has been a few days since we visited Maverick. He said he would look over things and get back to me. So far, I haven’t heard anything but I am trying to be patient as he does have a newborn. That will be me in a few months. Scarlet’s morning sickness is really taking a toll on her. Looking at my watch, I noticed it is still early but I have been working since 3am. Currently, it is 6:03am and Scarlet should still be sleeping for another two hours.. Hopefully. Sighing, I flipped over the last of the restaurant paperwork. Jessy was so happy to be officially running the store. I still technically own it but it is hers to do as she wishes. I put my heart and soul into it but with a baby coming, I know it needs someone who can be there 24/7. Signing the last part, I folded it and put it into a vanilla envelope for someone to take it to Jessy for me. This will solidify her future. I felt really good about this. Ring! Ring! Ring! My phone started buzzing on the desk by my co
Scarlet POV Rolling over, I was met with a cold bed. It took blinking a few times for me to focus on the empty bed beside me. I could feel his emotions and he was feeling a bit stressed at this moment so he either is working or punching something. Moving the hair from my face, I was able to fully see our room. We have been here longer than I would have liked but with my morning sickness, we haven’t been able to get things moved into his house. Now that Jared is out of the picture, I feel more comfortable moving out there. I had ordered the baby items and they should be arriving today. I felt my stomach turn over and knew I had about 30 seconds before I throw up all over our bed. Jumping up, I ran to the bathroom and managed to make it just in time to get the toilet. This shit sucks. I am so over all this. My stomach has a little bump to it. I wasn’t sure exactly how long this pregnancy will be but I feel like this baby will come early. Not sure how but I just have this feeling tha
Jaxson POV “JAXSON!” Scarlet yelled from across the office. “What? I am right here!” Looking up, she was looking rather irritated at me. “I have been talking to you for the last five minutes. Did you even hear what I said?” Yup, she was annoyed. “No, sorry. I was reading an email.” The email that I had just received was from the councilmen. Alpha Isaac died last night and it was reported that it was from natural causes. Bullshit! I know Jared had something to do with it. I was typing a response when she was talking to me. “Well pay attention! The flowers and everything will be here tonight and I will need help setting it up. Also, the tent is being set up right now by some guys and then I am going to go down there and decorate it. I think everything is ready to go for tomorrow.” She was clearly frazzled and the pregnancy hormones weren’t helping. “What do you need from me?” I asked, trying to sound like I do care. I really do care but I need to respond to this email and keep t
