Chapter Three: Theodore Maximiliano

Theodore Maximiliano

"Please, Theo, do not leave." As I struggled to wake up, a young woman's terrified voice caught my attention. My eyes closed tightly, staring sharply at Pierce's green eyes, pleading for help.

"No, no," I muttered in my sleep, my voice trembling as I ran from the explosion.

I opened my eyes wide, my chest pounding with fear as I looked at my sweat-soaked body.

I was having it again. That terrible nightmare. That hunting daydream. Here we go again. Never letting me go.

I sat up in bed, gasping for air and taking in my surroundings. I rubbed my face, attempting to shake off the lingering fear, as the sun shone directly into my eyes. I grabbed my medication and stood up to get some water.

In any case, things never improved.

I furrowed my brow as my eyes were drawn to something attractive.

"Benita?" I called out in disbelief, walking over to the sleeping creature on my spacious bed.

I hope that was not the case here.

"Benita," I called again to confirm my puzzled expression, adjusting my white robe to fit my large body.

"Humm," she replied, and a cold smile spread across my face as I stared at her sleeping eyes.

"Why are you still here? What are you doing on my bed? Did not I warn you yesterday not to come around me once you have overcome your lust?" I questioned coldly, and she shook slightly in fear, clutching the duvet that covered her naked body.

How slutty was she?

"I am...I apologize, sir. "I overslept." She replied, and I snickered.

"Overslept?" I stared at her intently before smiling coldly.

What bothered me the most was not being recognized at the appropriate time. I never mixed pleasure and business, and she was unaware of this. Being my secretary does not entitle her to free work after we have sex. And here she was, still sleeping like a pig.

"Get out immediately!" I ordered, and she was gone in the blink of an eye.

I glared at the door, amused. "You are getting what you hoped for today."

I dropped the glass cup filled with water as I headed to the bathroom, splashing some water on my face. I looked in the mirror and focused hard on the dark circles under my eyes.

Bullshi... I was not even a woman.

I took a few deep breaths to calm myself down before returning to the bedstand and retrieving my phone.

Booking an appointment with the doctor was all I could think about right now.

"Clear off your appointment; I am coming over," I said when the phone was picked up, and I hung up without waiting for a response.

Anyway, I am not to blame for that. Cannot be all sweetness.

"What have we got for today, Rosy?" I asked my voice assistant while deciding on my office attire for today.

"Theo, Veronica is coming to clean today and will also be the cook for the day." She simply said, and I hummed, "Yes."

"Rosy, call Clark for me," I instructed, and I was instantly on the phone with Clark.

"What am I clearing off for today, boss?" Clark, my executive assistant, asked as soon as he got on the phone.

Going straight to the point was all I needed from my staff. I guess Clark got it right.

"One thing you should do is clear Benita Jones' records. I am not interested in seeing anything about her when I arrive. Then, clear my schedule—who do I have a meeting with? "Is there anyone important?" I inquired, and a sigh followed.

"You are meeting with a prestigious organization. "Orizano by 2 p.m." He simply replied, prompting me to nod in agreement.

"I will be back before that time, but please cancel any other appointments. "I only want one of them today." I requested, and he cleared his throat.

"But, sir."

"I do not want to listen to that. Clear Benita's record.

The call ended, and I dashed into the restroom.

I would not say I am my parent's only child, but I am their most cherished and favourite man.

Never wrong in a negative way, but unfortunately, I became the worst. Thinking about them brings back the most painful memories that will always haunt me as a man.

"Well, well, well." Look who has finally decided to show up. I've been expecting you, given the way you called earlier this morning,  Theodore." The man in a white doctrine jacket entered with a smile on his face.

That was everything he did. Makes everything fine as I just stared unemotionally at him.

I have known this man for 25 years, and nothing about him has changed over time.

He always smiles as if he would win the lottery.

"Maxwell, please refrain from making small talk. I am here to discuss the nightmares, and I have a lot to do." I bluntly stated, and he sighed before taking his seat.

"As usual, straight to the point. I reviewed your file, and without asking you questions, it is clear that the nightmares have gotten worse, haven't they?" He asked, and I scoffed. Always asking unnecessary questions.

"Yes. "They have."

"And you have been avoiding me for months, hoping they would magically disappear? "C'mon, Theo. He reacted sternly, and I snorted.

Here he goes again.

He shook his head at my silent response to his question before continuing. "Well, let us get you back on track. I will prescribe some new medication and schedule regular sessions. "I mean, a weekly therapy session." He suggested as I furrowed my brow in fury.

"Your cooperation is required here." He retorted, writing on a pad while staring at me. "That is not all, and you are aware of this. We need to discuss your emotions, grief, and guilt...

"Guilt?" I interrupted abruptly, my voice cold with annoyance. "Shut up, Maxwell."
