Sunny looked at the outfits lying on the bed. Both seemed pretty elegant for a dinner with her fake in-laws. Normally, she wouldn’t care that much but the guests were Tora and Harald and she wanted to impress them.

She was feeling so nervous… Like never before. There were so many things going on in her mind right now. The debt, Alec’s situation, the fact that her mother disappeared from the face of the Earth.

All through the night, Sunny tossed and turned, trying not to cry, trying not to think of Magnus, trying to forget what happened that evening, in his penthouse, the way he humiliated her in front of his parents. Neither said a word until they were far away from the bar and Sunny’s knees gave out completely. Magnus shut off the shower spray and flattened his palms on the slick tile wall. Cold water ran down his face and chest, tightening his skin.
