CHAPTER 38

Neither said a word until they were far away from the bar and Sunny’s knees gave out completely. She leaned her back against a wall, but her strength was inexistent and she slowly slid down, finishing on the pavement.

“This is not even my fault…” she murmured and started to cry silently. “So, why am I being punished?”

After passing his fingers through his black hair, Alec threw out a frustrated sigh and sat down on the pavement next to her. He put his head on her shoulder, ignoring the curious stares of people passing them by. Sunny covered her face with her hands and they stayed like this, in silence, for a few long minutes.

At one point, Alec put his arm around her shoulder and Sunny stopped crying.

“Schatz, thanks for getting me out of there… No one has ever done something like this for me. You are the most amazing human being I’ve ever met,” Alec told her slowly and kissed her temple. “Really.”
