“What? Magnus, please, calm down,” Sunny begged, but the hatred in his eyes froze her words in her mouth.
“No! No, I won’t! You know why? Here’s why. I fell in love with all my soul with this woman for real!” he yelled, standing from the table to glare at her. “But you want to know the irony of the situation? She’s just another gold-digger… Just like Charlotte, the bitch, all Miss Makkena wants is my money. Fuck feelings! Fuck love!”

Neither said a word until they were far away from the bar and Sunny’s knees gave out completely. Magnus shut off the shower spray and flattened his palms on the slick tile wall. Cold water ran down his face and chest, tightening his skin.
