I tried to yell but I couldn't, my lips were not parting and even if they did, I could tell no one would hear me.

What was this place? Everywhere was pitch black and I was floating right in the middle of nowhere. Or was it just my eyes that were closed?

I tried to open my eyes but nothing happened, everywhere was still pitch black. Or were my eyes actually open but everywhere was dark?

How would I know when closing my eyes would make me see nothing but pitch black and everywhere was also pitch black.

How would I tell the difference?

I patiently waited for something to happen but nothing happened. I stayed there for what seemed like centuries, unable to move or speak or see.

Was this what being dead looked like? Was I dead? Was this my heaven? My place of happiness? Or was this my hell? My place of anguish?

It was too peaceful to be hell. Yet it was too silent and tormenting to be heaven.
