Ethan’s POV:
Can my day get any worse today?
Now I have started to think, maybe that rude bastard Zeus was the root cause behind my awful luck today! If only I hadn’t bumped into him here before anyone else…perhaps, today would’ve turned out to be the best day of my life!
F*ck you…Zeus!
No matter how much I tried to vent my frustration by internally cussing at that arrogant punk, my mood only worsened as I saw all the other students entering the restaurant gallantly while showing off their passes. I was forced to stand at the corner from the gate, letting others walk past me.
Initially, I thought of pleading before that giant guard again, but his dark eyes with that murderous glare in them scared me. I was also gifted with a tall and good physique, but his crazy big muscular mass scared me, as I knew he might be deadly strong enough to beat me into a pulp if I further pursued.
Losing all hope by now as I was mentally preparing myself to leave, a sudden gentle tap on my shoulder flinched me from behind. Before I could turn around, a tall familiar figure stood next to me and showed the pass to that guard, “He’s with me. And here’s my pass, so let him go with me inside.”
At that moment, my savior was none other than Hermes, who held a radiant smile on his towards me. Groomed in a chic style denim outfit, Hermes was looking very handsome, holding an aura of rich background around him.
The guard quietly checked his pass for a few seconds, but holding a stoic face towards me, he answered, “I am sorry, Sir. Even though you’re carrying a VIP pass, I still can’t let this fraud go along with you–”
“He’s my friend, and the scholarship student of Bordwell campus this year, be mindful when you address him.” To my surprise, defending me Hermes scolded that guard in a gruff voice, glowering coldly at him. “Besides, I am Mr. Federick Ricco’s son, Hermes Ricco…who’s the largest shareholder of this hotel. So, are you still willing to disobey me?”
His words startled both me and the guard, as I didn’t expect Hermes to apply his father’s influence here as well!
Adding to my surprise, the guard courteously bowed before me with his apology followed by his nervous plea to Hermes, “I am terribly sorry, Sir. Please…d-do not fire me from this job, I really need it for my family—”
“Good for you for coming back to your early senses. I won’t report you for today, but there won’t be another chance next time.”
Hermes served a cold warning by interrupting his plea and later tossed a confident smile as he held my hand. Dragging me proudly inside through the glass gate, and walking past that guard who lowered his head before us now, the other few students around us were whispering among themselves, glancing at Hermes.
I was taken aback to witness the perfect example of how the entire world can be wrapped around your finger if you belong from a powerful background which made me mumble at him.
“Woah…does your father own every building’s share in this town? Is he a big celebrity or something?”
Hermes chuckled at my curious question and shook his head in denial while sounding very cordial in his tone, “Not every building, but he owns quite a few luxurious ones, and this restaurant is one among them. My father is just a good businessman, so I tend to use his influence whenever it’s needed.
“Anyways, you should’ve carried the pass here, Ethan. What would’ve happened if I hadn’t arrived on time?”
“I swear I had tucked it inside my wallet, but it isn’t there anymore…I don’t know where I lost it…but thank you so much for helping me today, Hermes. I…I am really very grateful to you.”
While I mumbled my sincere apology to him holding my anxious face, I felt Hermes stare at me for a brief moment, and then pat my shoulder gently to comfort me, “It’s not a big deal. I can do this much for my friend, right?”
“F-Friend?”
When I unknowingly blurted out after him, I felt his brown orbs darken at me, looking a bit cryptic when he pressed out a small smile, “Why? Have you still not considered me to be your friend, Ethan?”
Honestly, maybe due to my own insecurities, I have always tended to stay away from rich kids as I had a hard time to adjust in their lavish world. But the way Hermes stood up for me when no one else tried to bat an eye at a nobody like me, there was no way I could push him away anymore.
I still hadn’t considered him as my friend since we had met only once before…but now, my intuitions told me maybe it would be fruitful to go along with his whims. Who knows, maybe he was actually a nice guy to be friends with in this unfamiliar town with so many weirdos around me.
“Oh no! Of course not!” I hurriedly persuaded him with a jovial smile as I tapped on his shoulder, “Y-You’re my friend, Hermes. You’re the first friend I have made here, Hermes. I am really glad to meet you.”
“Good, because that’s what I wanted to hear.” Hermes answered with a smile as I felt his eyes return to his usual gleeful look, which made me ponder whether maybe I was mistaken to observe a mysterious tint in them earlier.
He led me towards a huge deluxe restaurant suit beautifully groomed for the fresher’s party today. Inside that huge lavishly decorated hall room with countless round tables set for every group, Hermes led me to a big group of students seated on a table at the corner of the room, where two young men and a pretty woman were giggling and chattering loudly, holding chilled beer glasses.
“Here, meet the seniors of our Literature Department, Ethan.” As we reached close to the table, those guy’s attention catered toward me which made me a little nervous. Before I could politely greet them, one of those guys dropped the beer glass on the table and hurriedly walked towards me, holding a radiant smile across his handsome face, “Are you, Ethan Marley? This year’s scholarship student?”
“Um…yes…” I couldn’t help but be nervous from having that big group’s attention solely focused on me now. But that guy suddenly moved closer and offered me a friendly hug, which made my worries a little lessened since I was getting dubious about the likes of people I would encounter tonight.
“After 8 years our Campus finally has a male scholarship student, and that’s from our department! You made us very proud…and I am overjoyed to meet you, Ethan. You’re the star of our party tonight!”
Giving me a few gentle pats on my shoulder, that guy surprisingly me comfortable with his warm greeting, as he further addressed himself, “I am Chris, the Senior Year President of our Department. And they are my friends, hey…everyone, greet our junior well.”
Heeding his command, that other young man and that pretty lady walked closer to me, and the guy stretched his hands first to offer me a polite greeting, “Hi, I am Ralph, and this is Emma, we are both Chris’s best friends and also the Assistants of the Student President. We are happy to have you on board, Junior.”
“Nice to meet all of you. I am Ethan, I will be looking forward to building a good bond with all of you.” By now the nervousness growing inside me had faded from their warm greeting. Chris was the friendliest among all of them, and being near him it felt as if not every students here were weirdos as I had assumed before.
“You’re quite handsome…and you’ve a good body. Do you have a girlfriend, junior?” Holding a soft smile, Emma walked closer and teased me first while touching my biceps, which made me a little flustered.
When I shook my head in denial, she smiled mischievously to watch me get flustered, “Hmm, then the girls here will have a good eye candy reserved for them. Well, too bad we don’t have a cutie like you in our class, otherwise, I might’ve considered you to be my boyfriend—”
“Emma, stop scaring the newbie. He might start to think of you as some weirdo if you hit on him shamelessly like this on your first meet.” Before she could finish, Chris scolded him in a hoarse voice which led everyone present there burst into a chuckle, including me.
“Hey, I am not hitting on him, okay!” However, she sounded confident enough to not let his words bother her, as she flipped her wavy hairs on the other side of the shoulder, “I was just kidding. My heart is reserved for someone else, and everyone here is already aware of it….WHAT THE FUCK!?”
But her amicable words suddenly trailed off with a loud surprised shriek, making everyone turn around in the direction where her eyes were fixated in shock. To my surprise, not only her but everyone who looked in that direction was frozen briefly with a gaze of disbelief.
Watching their pale expression made me ponder as I chose to turn around that way as well, thinking…did they see a ghost or something?
Please do comment, vote and send your motivation for me, my dear little lovelies :*
Ethan’s POV:I think I would’ve been a little glad if a ghost had actually shown up at that time in the party. But further adding to my miserable luck for today, it was someone worse than that. Zeus Blackwell…the root cause of my bad luck had arrived here too. That punk held a proud arrogant sneer on his lips as he walked through the glass door, bearing his majestic aura. Groomed in a branded pitch-black leather jacket with grey denim jeans in contrast, his onyx black hair bangs covering his forehead along with his sharp sexy jawline…were enough to reflect the radiance of a top-notch celebrity from him. I hated to admit that his handsomeness was way beyond too dazzling for me to ignore, compared to all the other men attending the party, who looked more like peasants to me before this ‘Dark Prince’. His big mysterious eyes had a reserved look in them when he calmly strode towards us, but while walking past a few young girls, Zeus made them gasp with his aura. Not only the girls, but
Ethan’s POV:As much as I was barely suppressing my vicious urge to twist his dirty hand with which he dared to grope my ass, shuffling my glare at his nasty smug face I gritted, “What the fuck…are you doing?” “I am just trying to be a bit familiar with you. It’s uncommon to find such a cute pretty boy like you here. You seem like a newbie at Bordwell University, right?”Without showing any minimal shame, that bastard groped my butt cheek a little hard this time, giving it a little squeeze, “I had my eyes following you since the moment I saw you here today, boy. It was a perfect chance to approach you when I saw you alone at the bar counter. Besides, you are perfectly my type.” While growing up in my small hometown, I had a vague idea of the kinds of perverts existing in this world, but this baldie bastard even topped them all! What kind of a vulgar pervert does someone have to be to approach a perfectly manly guy like me, and even call me cute? How dare he!?Strangely I observed th
Ethan's POV:> “Oh my! Look the newbie is picking a fight with Zeus!” > “What is wrong with him? Does he think he can stand against Zeus’s robust strength?”The moment I rushed up to Zeus and grabbed him by his collar I could hear those intense whispers among the crowd which was watching us eagerly. While I was furious by his insulting remark, that jerk appeared strangely calm while facing me, without showing any sign of discontent as I had lowkey expected him to throw his hands first at me since I had dared to grab the ‘Dark Prince’ by his collar in front of all his admirers. But as if to add gasoline to my rage, I saw the smug widen on his lips when he snorted, “You’re the one who forcibly sat on my desk when I had told you to go away, remember? Besides, this is the kind of reaction you should’ve shown to that man, but instead when I pointed out the truth, you’re getting angry with me?” “Truth? Do you really think I enjoyed him groping me? Are you really fuckin’ crazy!?” His humili
Ethan’s POV:This peculiar coincidence startled me a bit since I didn’t expect the girl who had caught my interest here to be the first to approach me at the party. Despite getting a little flustered by Hermes’s tease, I didn’t turn her invitation down, as I was in dire need of something to distract me from all the chaos going on inside my head. Soon when Hermes left leaving me with Lena, I sat along with her on the velvet couch which was located on the opposite corner of the hall room. While I could feel a nervousness budding in between us now that we both were alone, Lena cordially initiated a conversation first, “Ethan, I hope I didn’t make you uncomfortable by asking for some spare time, right?” “O-Oh, of course not!” Quickly shaking my head in denial, when I responded to her, she seemed quite pleased with my answer, grinning broadly. “You must be wondering among all these students here at the party, why did I approach you here, right?” Her next question also winced me a little
Ethan's POV:BA-DUMP! THUMP! THUMP!While the sound of my erratically fast pounding heart echoed vibrantly in my ears as I entered the forest, I could feel dreadful shivers crawling down my spine. The moonlit had started to lessen drastically as I entered deeper into the woods, and I also witnessed a foggy haze covering the giant trees around me mysteriously which projected an uncanny aura about that forest! Apart from the sound of my rushing footsteps crushing the dried eucalyptus leaves, I could only hear the faint sound of small insects like crickets, apart from that…there was a complete silence around me as if I had walked into a forbidden territory! After I had entered quite deeper inside the woods, I halted my footsteps, gazing deliberately around me only to realize that all the ways ahead of me looked the exact same, and I couldn’t find the way either through which I entered the forest. Thus, it would be safe to mention I was lowkey lost and stuck in the middle of that cursed
Ethan's POV:All of a sudden, I saw that the vast area was fogged with mist, and slowly, a massive giant figure looming in the dark approached me in slow, steady steps. It didn’t seem like a human, but a creature who was approximately double in height than me, with huge broad shoulders! I couldn’t see his face, but his eyes seemed abnormally scary, making my blood run cold! I saw his eyes glowing red like a beast, protruding a fierce gaze towards me, but his pupils had shrunk to make it look like a pair of wolf eyes! My body was frozen in fear but I saw that cryptic figure march towards me slowly as the fog started to clear up on its own. With a faint trace of moonlit falling on his arms, I saw it was twice as big as the typical normal human size, covered with thick pitch-black fur. Most importantly that bloody red flame which I had mistaken as a wildfire was radiating all around his big arms, as if that creature was carrying a ball of fire in his arms! The moment he walked a littl
Ethan’s POV:A Supreme…Alpha Werewolf? It’s not like I wasn’t aware of these mythical beasts who were once considered among the greatest supernatural beings to exist in ancient times, trampling over the powerless human society. But as our world evolved into modernization, gradually the debate about the existence of these phenomenal creatures around us was denied to the extent they were only considered as a myth. But all these theories could never stop my strange curiosity that grew towards werewolves since I was in elementary school. Often when I was small, I would have nightmares of scary dark creatures chasing after me through a thick eerie forest through which I ran aimlessly fast to save my life, and that would result in me awakening with cold sweat. But as I gradually grew older, I began to realize through countless documentaries and fantasy movies that those creatures whom I dreamt of chasing after me were known as ‘werewolves’, predatory ruthless monsters who once used to con
Ethan’s POV:“You never fail to amaze me with your quirks…Ethan Marley.” After Zeus was done laughing at me up to his heart’s content, his deep murmur winced me a little as I didn’t fail to catch the hint of sarcasm from his tone. When I averted my frowned gaze up at him, his cold dark eyes were already glued on me shimmered in the dark when he curved a small smug at me, “You really assumed that…I have been doing all these to steal liver from humans? Seriously? You labeled a Supreme Alpha like me the same as a puny organ smuggler!? This is the worst accusation I have been ever charged with in my whole life!” Even though Zeus retained a smug face, the offense from his tone made me a little worried, as I was truly being cautious not to irk his temper at that moment when I was already on the verge of life and death. With a gulp, I pursed my lips while mumbling at him, “So…y-you…don’t crave for livers?” “Of course not!” He scowled at me, sounding pretty annoyed from his tone while ma
Ethan’s POV: Hearing what Chris had to say left me baffled for a while, as I stood numb, unable to hide my scowled face from him. Despite his continued mumble on his own, my concentration had completely drifted off from Chris, and standing there, I could only reminisce about Zeus’s face over and over again before he walked away from me back there. Before he turned those big shoulders at me, I wasn’t mistaken to see his rolled onyx eyes grimacing from pain with deep angst hidden in them. He was making such a sad face as if my outburst must have truly hurt Zeus, and he was suppressing himself from reverting back at me. But now that I am awkwardly realizing my mistake…I hate to admit it but his absence is haunting me!Since the morning after we left his mansion we had been having a good time, and when things were starting to be comfortable between us, just like Zeus said before…why does everything have to go wrong in the wrong direction when we are together? Besides if I consider Ch
Ethan's POV:With that realization, I exhaled a heavy sigh and sat on the wooden bench again feeling drained. This town was a new place for me and there was no way I could ask someone else for Zeus’s number without inviting unnecessary attention, so naturally, there was no other option to contact Zeus except to face him at the campus. But deep down in my heart, I knew, by the way, I lashed out at him earlier, my self-confidence had taken a hit as I couldn’t muster the strength to meet him directly without a trial conversation at first. At least, through the phone call, I could have tested the waters to see if Zeus was maddeningly infuriated with me or if he was willing to have a negotiating conversation! Though I didn’t have high hopes for Zeus to be still calm with me after I harshly treated him when he went too far even to help this miserable old man. To be honest, I had already prepared myself to fall on my knees to beg his mercy if things went wrong, considering I had witnessed
Ethan’s POV: After a brief anticipated silence fell between us, the old man quietly stared at me for a while before letting out a small dull smile. His smile was mixed with a hint of sadness in his droopy eyes while he lifted his gaze down from me, “I am sorry, young man. Hearing everything, you must've felt pretty disgusted to think I compared you to my heinous son… But… it's just that my son wasn't always such a terrible human. “My wife had passed away long ago when he was still just a child, and I raised him all alone without asking for anyone's help. Long ago, he was a bright, good kid anyone could ask for…but…” Suddenly his words trailed off when he made a grimacing expression. Just glancing at him once I could tell that he was trying hard to suppress his tears before me. Honestly, I wasn't disgusted about the fact that he thought of his own son upon meeting me, but my mind was most importantly preoccupied with thoughts about Zeus, and the ugly spat we had just moments earli
Ethan’s POV:“Good to see you again, Sir?” It took me a while to muster my courage before I approached the old cab driver, who was still gazing blankly at the picture he held in his right hand. He didn’t seem to notice me arriving before, but hearing my voice, he flinched and quickly lifted up his gaze at me. Then he reverted back with a soft smile, “Oh, you’re the young man from yesterday…such a nice coincidence to run into you here.” Under the pretense of that kind smile, I didn’t fail to notice he quickly tucked that picture inside his chest pocket with his clumsy hand movements as if he didn’t intend to show that to me. As much as I could feel my guilt-stricken feelings piling up inside my heart, I had to mask a fake smile while I quietly walked up to the public bench he was seated on. I sat next to him and exhaling a heavy sigh, I politely addressed, “Yes, fancy running into you here, Sir. I came to the Asian restaurant to have a quick bite with my friend—”Suddenly my words
Zeus's POV:Zeus’s POV:I had almost considered my wolf’s plea for not harming these young betas following our divine Moon Goddesses’s command and letting them get away with a stern warning. But the second one among them mentioned Ethan while I was already considering leaving from there, my motion feet halted on the ground, surprising me to my core. My face turned dark from a wave of dread and panic that washed over me the moment I recalled Ethan’s smiling, innocent face before my eyes. Since the very second I decided to bind Ethan by my side by forming the pact, I was aware of exposing him to the dangers of this dark world from where creatures like me belonged. It was a selfish choice…but if I wanted someone to share space by my side in this cold, lonely world…my heart knew it had to be someone as pure as Ethan. Despite harboring hatred towards humans for all these decades, my heart felt soothed by his presence from the very first moment he caught my eyes. Since that night of sno
Zeus’s POV:My head hurts…and I feel this strange uneasiness rising inside me when I parted ways from Ethan. Honestly, I didn’t want to leave him all by himself, but I didn’t want to irk him even more than how he already seemed furious at me. After living almost for an eternity among the humans, I was quite accustomed to their selfish egocentric nature, so I wasn’t startled by how the crowd inside that restaurant reacted to me. But Ethan never failed to amaze me…since the first time, I laid my eyes on him. The way he boldly defended me before everyone, shook me from inside, as the realization finally hit me that there was someone else apart from Anna, especially a human, who didn’t abandon my side, despite knowing my real truth. I knew Ethan had labeled me as a monster, but his kind actions wavered me to give in a fleeting hope, and before I knew…I was already comfortable with his presence next to me. He was a kind boy, and due to his kind and affectionate nature, he gave into my s
Ethan's POV:“What’s wrong?”It seemed Zeus had quickly noticed my sudden halt, while my sad eyes were fixed in the direction of that elderly man, seated dejected, all alone with a photograph and a half-eaten sandwich on the other hand. Hearing his curious low voice snapped me back to reality from my thoughts but I couldn’t hold back those detestable feelings growing inside me towards Zeus. Upon shuffling my gaze back on him, I saw his big pitch-black eyes were fixated on me, while I could see concern written all over his face. He seemed anxious from my sudden change of expression, but my feet unknowingly parted a few steps away from him as we were walking closely next to each other. “Are you feeling sick again? Want me to drive back to the mansion?” While I bore a fidgety silence between us, Zeus’s concerned voice made me feel more restless as if all of my emotions were a jumbled mess inside me. His eyes and voice clearly expressed his concern for me, but even looking at that ma
Ethan's POV: Struggling to contain my perplexed feelings at that moment as I was barely holding myself from starting a fight with all those women scornfully gawking at our table, when I let out a big exhale, Zeus finally lifted his gaze towards me. Until now, he was still happily chomping on his meat dumplings, like an adorable squirrel stuffing its cheeks with a bunch of peanuts. But meeting my orbs, he quickly asked me, “Do you feel sick from eating that spicy stuff? If you feel unwell, let me know but don’t suddenly collapse like last night.” For a second, it baffled me to realize that Zeus’s entire focus was fixated on me as if I was the only one in this world who mattered to him at that moment. Given that, he was completely oblivious to the surroundings who only harshly condemned him, but all those bullshit rubbish about this person had started to irk me badly. So, I let out another heavy huff of breath, lowering my spoon as I met his curious gaze before speaking, “Zeus…I am
Ethan's POV:The touch of his cool palm brushing against my warm skin winced me a little, but what startled me the most was that even though I was fumed from hearing all those people cussing at him nonsensically, Zeus seemed very calm, catering his whole attention to me instead. His serene onyx eyes curved into a soft smile, when he slightly nudged his finger against my palm as he uttered, “Do not let these humans bother your sanity, Ethan. Look at me here instead, and try to be a bit calm.” “How can you be so calm when your dignity is tarnished?” I frowned my brows a little hard, asking him in a stiff low pitch to which Zeus only let out a warm snicker, “Honestly, I don’t care whatever they talk about me or what they intend to label me…but I am glad nonetheless.” “Glad? About what?” “You’re the reason, Ethan.” Once again, startling me with his soft gaze and a tender press on my hand on the table, Zeus seemed much more sincere from his tone as I could read his facial expression see
