Ethan’s POV:
This peculiar coincidence startled me a bit since I didn’t expect the girl who had caught my interest here to be the first to approach me at the party. Despite getting a little flustered by Hermes’s tease, I didn’t turn her invitation down, as I was in dire need of something to distract me from all the chaos going on inside my head.
Soon when Hermes left leaving me with Lena, I sat along with her on the velvet couch which was located on the opposite corner of the hall room. While I could feel a nervousness budding in between us now that we both were alone, Lena cordially initiated a conversation first, “Ethan, I hope I didn’t make you uncomfortable by asking for some spare time, right?”
“O-Oh, of course not!” Quickly shaking my head in denial, when I responded to her, she seemed quite pleased with my answer, grinning broadly.
“You must be wondering among all these students here at the party, why did I approach you here, right?”
Her next question also winced me a little, since she wasn’t entirely wrong. I was indeed thinking about it, but averting my eyes at her, I gained the confidence to ask her, “Yes, I was wondering about it.”
“Then, I shall be honest with you. Ethan, I saw everything that happened between you and Zeus.” She narrowed her big brown eyes, and taking a big sip of the beer from her can, she continued in a hoarse pitch, “I liked how the way you stood up to that arrogant asshole, Zeus. You know what, it's quite rare to find a gutsy newbie like you on campus who has the balls to stand up to a jerk who thinks he’s above everyone else here.
“Most of the people here are his foolish admirers and it boils my blood to realize even the boys in my Department are also blinded by his outer beauty…but not his dark inner side. So…I really liked your guts, Ethan. That’s the reason, I asked Hermes to introduce us…since I wanted to get to know you even better.”
Her confident answer radiantly uplifted my gloomy mood, as I smiled with a wide grin, gazing intently at her. Since the morning after I bumped into Zeus, everything kept going downhill with me, making me harbor the belief inside that maybe I committed a terrible mistake by enrolling into Bordwell University, which was my dream campus.
But her words made me realize I was never the problem! Not all the girls were insane here just as I had assumed. Honestly, I had given up on hope before but now, I couldn’t help but grin with my gleaming hopeful eyes by realizing I had found a different girl on this campus, who was perfectly my type!
Hearing her appreciating me while I was unknowingly condemning myself, I thought maybe Lena was the blessing the heavens had prepared for me after all the chaos I went through.
“T-Thank you, Lena. You don’t know how much I wanted to hear these words from you…I…I was dying inside to hear it from someone in fact, but now coming from you…I feel as if I am in heaven!”
Scratching the nape of my neck bearing a flustered smile, my sincere answer made her return a wide blushing smile back. But before I could reciprocate more, I felt a thrilling shiver running down my body when I sensed she had gently held onto my hand which was resting on the couch.
Bearing the nervous pounding of my heartbeat, when I lifted my gaze at her, I saw her eyes were watching me with an intense passion, as I could feel she tilted her head a little closer.
“Ethan, if it’s alright with you, can we leave the party and go somewhere quiet?”
Her unexpected approach made my heart thump so loud from the gushing adrenaline as if it was about to jump out of my chest at any moment. Excitedly I nodded my head, as I could clearly realize the hint she gave me…
Indeed just as Hermes said, it was my lucky night to secure myself with such a beautiful girlfriend! There would be no more bad luck or chaos anymore…and I was finally getting the chance to live the life I had always yearned for until now!
But fate doesn’t let things go as we plan. As I was about to tilt my head low aiming for a kiss on her eager soft lips, suddenly my eyes fell at the backyard door of the hallroom where Zeus stood proudly tall. His tinted dark eyes were gazing at the big shining full moon outside the glass window, while his facial expression seemed very dense.
I couldn’t deny anymore that Zeus’s aura was so elegant and dazzling that it was always easy to locate him among hundreds of men, but what stunned me the most was that he wasn’t alone.
At that moment, that pot-bellied flashy old pervert also came marching towards that door and glanced at his face keenly. Without a second delay, Zeus grabbed his arm and dragged him outside that door towards the backyard area of the restaurant.
As much as I was startled by this absurd scenario, a sudden warning from that cab driver earlier echoed in my ears.
Wait…didn’t he mention that the backyard of the restaurant was connected to that Cursed Black Wood forest? It was almost close to midnight. I know Zeus never seemed to me like a sane person, but did he actually mean it when he told that pervert earlier that he could show him a good time if he wanted company for the night?
“Ethan, where are you looking? Focus…” But Lena’s gentle tap on my cheek jolted me back from my cloud of thoughts, as I realized instead of focusing on our first kiss, I was rather fixated on ardently thinking about Zeus.
Feeling a little ashamed to keep her waiting when she initiated the kiss first, I rather tried to clear my head from thinking about that jerk.
But the more I tried to distract myself from thinking about Zeus, that menacing warning from the cab driver kept ringing in my ears, making me ponder why would he be willing to go with that pervert to that dangerous place at this late hour.
A thought strongly resonated in my mind, what if if the pervert had pulled him into any nasty deal after he failed to get his hands on me? I had realized that Zeus was undoubtedly the most handsome man on our campus…so it would be natural to be attracted to his dazzling charm for a pervert like him, right?
The moment when her lips were about to touch mine, my body instinctively reacted as I pushed Lena away from me, blocking her with my arms.
She seemed really baffled at my unexpected response, staring with her wide-open eyes. But still enduring my humiliation, I blurted before her while standing up from the couch, “L-Lena, c-could you give me some time, please? I…I will go to the restroom and will be back soon. Okay?”
“Wait…Ethan, are you seriously leaving now? The mood was so good and…”
As much as I was flustered by her shocked murmur and her gaze of disbelief locked on me, I couldn’t control these palpitations going wild inside me while thinking about what that pervert might be planning to do with Zeus. Not looking behind anymore, I almost ran away from her while lying about going to the restroom.
Obviously, I reached out to that backyard door and once opening it, I ran outside frantically, without thinking of anything anymore.
The night was harrowingly cold and dark, and I realized the radiance of the moonlit had started to lessen when I ran further ahead. Though I was petrified inside to ignore that cab driver’s warning, I couldn’t halt my steps from entering the dark cryptic Black Woods visible in front of me…
On that night, only if I had known before that one choice would turn my life completely upside down, would I have still done it!?
HELL YEAH!
I would love to read your thoughts, comments and reviews :* Please do let me know :)
Ethan's POV:BA-DUMP! THUMP! THUMP!While the sound of my erratically fast pounding heart echoed vibrantly in my ears as I entered the forest, I could feel dreadful shivers crawling down my spine. The moonlit had started to lessen drastically as I entered deeper into the woods, and I also witnessed a foggy haze covering the giant trees around me mysteriously which projected an uncanny aura about that forest! Apart from the sound of my rushing footsteps crushing the dried eucalyptus leaves, I could only hear the faint sound of small insects like crickets, apart from that…there was a complete silence around me as if I had walked into a forbidden territory! After I had entered quite deeper inside the woods, I halted my footsteps, gazing deliberately around me only to realize that all the ways ahead of me looked the exact same, and I couldn’t find the way either through which I entered the forest. Thus, it would be safe to mention I was lowkey lost and stuck in the middle of that cursed
Ethan's POV:All of a sudden, I saw that the vast area was fogged with mist, and slowly, a massive giant figure looming in the dark approached me in slow, steady steps. It didn’t seem like a human, but a creature who was approximately double in height than me, with huge broad shoulders! I couldn’t see his face, but his eyes seemed abnormally scary, making my blood run cold! I saw his eyes glowing red like a beast, protruding a fierce gaze towards me, but his pupils had shrunk to make it look like a pair of wolf eyes! My body was frozen in fear but I saw that cryptic figure march towards me slowly as the fog started to clear up on its own. With a faint trace of moonlit falling on his arms, I saw it was twice as big as the typical normal human size, covered with thick pitch-black fur. Most importantly that bloody red flame which I had mistaken as a wildfire was radiating all around his big arms, as if that creature was carrying a ball of fire in his arms! The moment he walked a littl
Ethan’s POV:A Supreme…Alpha Werewolf? It’s not like I wasn’t aware of these mythical beasts who were once considered among the greatest supernatural beings to exist in ancient times, trampling over the powerless human society. But as our world evolved into modernization, gradually the debate about the existence of these phenomenal creatures around us was denied to the extent they were only considered as a myth. But all these theories could never stop my strange curiosity that grew towards werewolves since I was in elementary school. Often when I was small, I would have nightmares of scary dark creatures chasing after me through a thick eerie forest through which I ran aimlessly fast to save my life, and that would result in me awakening with cold sweat. But as I gradually grew older, I began to realize through countless documentaries and fantasy movies that those creatures whom I dreamt of chasing after me were known as ‘werewolves’, predatory ruthless monsters who once used to con
Ethan’s POV:“You never fail to amaze me with your quirks…Ethan Marley.” After Zeus was done laughing at me up to his heart’s content, his deep murmur winced me a little as I didn’t fail to catch the hint of sarcasm from his tone. When I averted my frowned gaze up at him, his cold dark eyes were already glued on me shimmered in the dark when he curved a small smug at me, “You really assumed that…I have been doing all these to steal liver from humans? Seriously? You labeled a Supreme Alpha like me the same as a puny organ smuggler!? This is the worst accusation I have been ever charged with in my whole life!” Even though Zeus retained a smug face, the offense from his tone made me a little worried, as I was truly being cautious not to irk his temper at that moment when I was already on the verge of life and death. With a gulp, I pursed my lips while mumbling at him, “So…y-you…don’t crave for livers?” “Of course not!” He scowled at me, sounding pretty annoyed from his tone while ma
Zeus’s POV:…They were the last words I heard from someone who meant the whole world to me. She wasn’t worthless… in fact, she was my everything. But I didn’t ever get the chance to say it to her. My heart had died on that day when I lost her in the cruel hands of fate, but my body kept on living…probably because I was still bound to her by the promise she had made to me while breathing her last breath. I was bound to wait for her…eternally if it takes…After two centuries, I stopped counting the years with the dim ray of hope that gradually faded inside my cold heart. On that snowy cold winter, I had held Sophia’s blood-soaked body in my arms for the very last time and cried my eyes out, with that gut-wrenching pain forming a knot deep inside my chest. Thus, every year during
Zeus’s POV: For the past two years on this campus, I never bothered to show any interest towards the newbies who were selected from the entrance exams, since I was aware only the children from well-off families would bribe for their seats and later onwards, their families would go boasting around everywhere about their capable children who had enrolled in the prestigious Bordwell University. After spending such a long time amidst humans, I was very well aware of their selfish and greedy nature, and thus, it made my blood hunt easier on every full moon night, which I later onwards reduced to once every two months.Since the laws in this world were starting to get on my nerves, I tended to be careful before but to be on the safe side, I always changed place every decade and would never settle in one place, just like I was supposed to leave this Luminapost town after 10 years of residing here. I never wanted to leave any attachment behind once I was done and that’s why, I never bothere
Zeus’s POV:Before I was about to walk away from the pillar, I didn’t realize when Ethan had already reached close from behind that resulted in us accidentally bumping into each other. Since he was already distracted, Ethan stumbled his balance and was about to fall to the ground, before I hurriedly reached out my arm and grabbed him by his waist tight, pulling him close into my embrace. Now that I reminisce the memory of our first meeting, it was quite a dramatic moment when he fell straight into my arms. But the second I draped my arms around him, amidst the closed distance between us, suddenly I was awestruck by a whiff of soft but sweet intoxicating scent, similar to the fragrance of a bunch of fresh jasmine, emitting from Ethan! For a second I contemplated if it was the scent of his cologne…but quickly I realized, there was no way any man would use such a strong floral cologne in the first place. The scent was maddeningly alluring, and it was quite similar to those rare uniqu
Ethan’s POV:Kiss? Did I just hear it right? This feral, menacing werewolf who’s making the hairs on my neck stand up with just one glance demanded… a kiss from me!? No way it can be possible…I bet I must have truly lost my mind from the shock of this twisted situation. Or…I must have been hallucinating right now after bearing such a long, exhausting day, isn’t it?But puzzled in my thoughts when I was struggling to grasp over the situation, I jolted back to reality when I heard the sound of Zeus marching his footsteps closer, glowering his dark eyes at me. Those eyes looked similar to the gaze of a predator, marching towards his prey after succeeding in cornering it, amidst darkness looming around him. To be honest, it felt too scary for me to meet those eyes which were glowing red with shrunk animalistic pupils just a while ago, as it kept replaying the gore scene in my head when I saw Zeus in his real monstrous form, holding that blood dripping chunk of flesh within his claws.
Ethan’s POV:“Are you freakin’ kidding me, Sir? This is the 9th hill road we have crossed, yet still, you can’t recognize your way? Are you intentionally getting me riled up or is this some new scam pulled by youngsters like you nowadays?” As expected, the young cab driver yelled at me at the top of his lungs the moment I failed to recognize the hill road we took me in. But that wasn’t my fault in the first place! How would I be aware of this place when I am completely new to this town? All the hilly roads look kinda similar to me…and besides, Zeus should have been here to show me the way so I could reach his damn mansion located at some hill point of this town! That’s his fault…why did he have to leave me all alone on my own? I get it that he was pissed with me, but we should have resolved it with a proper discussion at least! But as far I learned from the map of this town, there were more than 15 small hills surrounding this town, so if I asked the driver to change direction again
Ethan's POV:“Don’t forget the group project I assigned to you all in my next class. Then, that’s all for now, folks. Have a good day ahead.” The lady professor ended the class in a humble tone and as expected, I couldn’t concentrate on one fuckin’ topic taught today. As an honor student, I had vowed to myself to take my studies seriously but now, my own actions were already making me guilty inside. I was already too embarrassed by suddenly blurting out an absurd name before Hermes and his disgruntled look which came as the aftermath was quite expected. For instance, he felt a bit irked at me, thinking that I was messing with him by randomly putting out any name of the individual. But how would I have made him understand that I am deliberately trying to keep my relationship with Zeus under wraps here… and the reason was of course, I don’t wish to be targeted by his fandom of girls here! By now, I have already understood, that handsome jerk is too popular to be true on campus. For
Ethan's POV:There he goes again…asking me that one question that has strangely ticked off my nerves quite a bit. Just like Lena’s texts, I saw earlier, as my friend shouldn’t Hermes be worried about knowing if I was doing okay after disappearing for an entire night? But why does he keep emphasizing on the part whether I stayed with Zeus or not? What does he have to do with that information anyway? At first, I thought of ignoring the question when I saw his text earlier, but now facing his cryptic eyes observing me intently, I retorted in a stiff voice, “Why do you keep asking me that, Hermes? I saw your text earlier…asking me this same question. And now…what makes you assume that I would have been together with Zeus until now?” As if Hermes could accurately sense the agitation in my tone, he exhaled a long sigh, while frowning his brows at me as his voice turned hoarse, “Of course I would be curious about it, because you two were the only students missing from the party last night
Ethan’s POV: Hearing what Chris had to say left me baffled for a while, as I stood numb, unable to hide my scowled face from him. Despite his continued mumble on his own, my concentration had completely drifted off from Chris, and standing there, I could only reminisce about Zeus’s face over and over again before he walked away from me back there. Before he turned those big shoulders at me, I wasn’t mistaken to see his rolled onyx eyes grimacing from pain with deep angst hidden in them. He was making such a sad face as if my outburst must have truly hurt Zeus, and he was suppressing himself from reverting back at me. But now that I am awkwardly realizing my mistake…I hate to admit it but his absence is haunting me!Since the morning after we left his mansion we had been having a good time, and when things were starting to be comfortable between us, just like Zeus said before…why does everything have to go wrong in the wrong direction when we are together? Besides if I consider Ch
Ethan's POV:With that realization, I exhaled a heavy sigh and sat on the wooden bench again feeling drained. This town was a new place for me and there was no way I could ask someone else for Zeus’s number without inviting unnecessary attention, so naturally, there was no other option to contact Zeus except to face him at the campus. But deep down in my heart, I knew, by the way, I lashed out at him earlier, my self-confidence had taken a hit as I couldn’t muster the strength to meet him directly without a trial conversation at first. At least, through the phone call, I could have tested the waters to see if Zeus was maddeningly infuriated with me or if he was willing to have a negotiating conversation! Though I didn’t have high hopes for Zeus to be still calm with me after I harshly treated him when he went too far even to help this miserable old man. To be honest, I had already prepared myself to fall on my knees to beg his mercy if things went wrong, considering I had witnessed
Ethan’s POV: After a brief anticipated silence fell between us, the old man quietly stared at me for a while before letting out a small dull smile. His smile was mixed with a hint of sadness in his droopy eyes while he lifted his gaze down from me, “I am sorry, young man. Hearing everything, you must've felt pretty disgusted to think I compared you to my heinous son… But… it's just that my son wasn't always such a terrible human. “My wife had passed away long ago when he was still just a child, and I raised him all alone without asking for anyone's help. Long ago, he was a bright, good kid anyone could ask for…but…” Suddenly his words trailed off when he made a grimacing expression. Just glancing at him once I could tell that he was trying hard to suppress his tears before me. Honestly, I wasn't disgusted about the fact that he thought of his own son upon meeting me, but my mind was most importantly preoccupied with thoughts about Zeus, and the ugly spat we had just moments earli
Ethan’s POV:“Good to see you again, Sir?” It took me a while to muster my courage before I approached the old cab driver, who was still gazing blankly at the picture he held in his right hand. He didn’t seem to notice me arriving before, but hearing my voice, he flinched and quickly lifted up his gaze at me. Then he reverted back with a soft smile, “Oh, you’re the young man from yesterday…such a nice coincidence to run into you here.” Under the pretense of that kind smile, I didn’t fail to notice he quickly tucked that picture inside his chest pocket with his clumsy hand movements as if he didn’t intend to show that to me. As much as I could feel my guilt-stricken feelings piling up inside my heart, I had to mask a fake smile while I quietly walked up to the public bench he was seated on. I sat next to him and exhaling a heavy sigh, I politely addressed, “Yes, fancy running into you here, Sir. I came to the Asian restaurant to have a quick bite with my friend—”Suddenly my words
Zeus's POV:Zeus’s POV:I had almost considered my wolf’s plea for not harming these young betas following our divine Moon Goddesses’s command and letting them get away with a stern warning. But the second one among them mentioned Ethan while I was already considering leaving from there, my motion feet halted on the ground, surprising me to my core. My face turned dark from a wave of dread and panic that washed over me the moment I recalled Ethan’s smiling, innocent face before my eyes. Since the very second I decided to bind Ethan by my side by forming the pact, I was aware of exposing him to the dangers of this dark world from where creatures like me belonged. It was a selfish choice…but if I wanted someone to share space by my side in this cold, lonely world…my heart knew it had to be someone as pure as Ethan. Despite harboring hatred towards humans for all these decades, my heart felt soothed by his presence from the very first moment he caught my eyes. Since that night of sno
Zeus’s POV:My head hurts…and I feel this strange uneasiness rising inside me when I parted ways from Ethan. Honestly, I didn’t want to leave him all by himself, but I didn’t want to irk him even more than how he already seemed furious at me. After living almost for an eternity among the humans, I was quite accustomed to their selfish egocentric nature, so I wasn’t startled by how the crowd inside that restaurant reacted to me. But Ethan never failed to amaze me…since the first time, I laid my eyes on him. The way he boldly defended me before everyone, shook me from inside, as the realization finally hit me that there was someone else apart from Anna, especially a human, who didn’t abandon my side, despite knowing my real truth. I knew Ethan had labeled me as a monster, but his kind actions wavered me to give in a fleeting hope, and before I knew…I was already comfortable with his presence next to me. He was a kind boy, and due to his kind and affectionate nature, he gave into my s
