Camille's POV
"Hi Camille," Gavriel's son tossed me a smile. He looked so relaxed as if it was natural that he was supposed to be in my house.
"Donovan's son, can you believe it?" Dad cheered. "The last time I saw him, he was so small and skinny. Now he's just as tall as his father!"
A part of me wanted to ask why he never told me Gav had a son right from the beginning.
Or a wife, too.
I gave them both a stiff smile and was ready to walk away when Nolan spoke up.
"It was nice meeting you today, Camille,"
He had moved away from my Dad and walked towards me. He smelled of chicken and potatoes. His gray eyes watched me warily, and I felt bad for him.
He probably didn't have anyone else to visit in New York aside from Dad. Gav must
Gavriel's POVIt exploded. A power plant at one of my labs had exploded. It had never happened. I have run my company for almost twenty years. I went to great lengths to make sure no hazards occurred. None. And yet this morning, I had gotten calls informing me that a power plant in my lab leaked, exploded, and had a worker badly battered and bruised."Gav?"Camille's voice breached through the noise in my head. She stood beside me now, her eyes watching me fearfully. "What's wrong? What happened?"Her scent, sweet and soothing, filled my nose. I pulled her close, wrapping an arm around her waist and burying my face in her heaving bosom. I groaned when her fingers reached into my hair, hesitan
Camille's POV"Oh wow, just how many floors does it have?!" Nolan gushed as we walked into the Empire State Building."102," Megan replied, then leaned in to whisper. "Tell me why I'm here, again?""To give us nerdy facts when we need them," I chuckled dryly.Megan gave me a look and then glanced back at Nolan. She narrowed her eyes then. "Why are you doing this? You're clearly not interested in a tour.""I told Gav I'd give him a tour of the city," I replied, catching up with Nolan and our tour guide.I had all but dragged her out of her home. We've had Dane drive us around the popular places in New York. I figured I could try pairing Megan and Nolan together, and who knows, it could work out.How was Gav doing, though? He hadn't texted me, and yeah, I was feeli
Gavriel's POV"It's just an accident, that's all, Mr Donovan," the chief of police said, a weary look on his face.I'd worked his ass off all through the day. The text from Victoria was engraved on my brain. Her gift. Had the crazy woman blown up my building? After I had received her text, I pressed the chief into investigating the explosion further. I knew he and his men were ready to write it off as some rich businessman's negligence. And if it was, I would accept it.But the last thing I was was negligent. I had taken every possible step to make sure nothing like this happened.Someone had tried to sabotage me. The man sitting before me didn't seem to think so.Neither did the tons of pressmen who waited outside the police station ready to ask a g
Camille's POVI rose off the bed, feeling rather pleased with the happy smile on his face. His eyes were hooded as I drew closer, wrapping my arms around his neck."This is a surprise. I don't mind,"he murmured. His large hands gripped my waist as he lowered his head to mine. We kissed, slow at first. He teased my mouth gently, soft and slow, parting my lips with his tongue. I hummed, leaning, melting against him. His mouth moved hungrily then, plundering every corner of my mouth. I could feel his hot wicked tongue move against mine. Our breathing grew harsh and heavy. His tongue flicked the roof of my mouth, and my knees wobbled.I gripped his arm to steady myself, and he tightened his hold around my waist. His body pressed against mine, causing me to feel every ridge, every muscle, all of him, and it made me shudder and ache terribly.
Camille's POVI gave Gavriel's hand a little squeeze. I wasn't exactly sure what to do.Or say.Marcus drove us down to the hospital to see the worker who had been injured. Gav sat still like a stone statue, a stern look on his face. He was lost in thought, and for a minute, I wasn't sure he had even noticed that I squeezed his hand.I sighed, trying to figure out what exactly was going on. Gavriel definitely hadn’t used hazardous chemicals in producing his fabrics. It went against the very things he stood for. It went against his integrity. He must be immensely pissed by the accusations. He squeezed my hand in return, and a small smile nibbled its way to my lips. It would be fine. We just had to find out what exactly Alan Johnson was thinking when he said that. If he was able to even talk at all.&n
Camille's POVThe blade of the knife pressed against my neck. My body rippled in fear.Shit.You're doomed now, Camille."Give me the phone," Alan ordered behind me, releasing his hold on my hair and yanking my phone out of my shaky hands."Alan, you need to calm down," I whispered, unable to hide the trembling in my voice.I hadn't known he was faking his injuries. That meant the hospital was in on this. Or that the doctor in charge was at least.Alan hauled my phone at the wall directly in front of me and I screamed watching it shatter."You maniac!""Shut the hell up!" He spat, pressing the blade against my skin until I was pretty sure it had nicked me.
Gavriel's POV"Nolan you're here," I exclaimed, looking up to see my son staring at me weirdly then back at Camille in my arms.I didn't want to let her go. The paparazzi were a nuisance. If I wasn't so pissed, I could have thought that how they surrounded me yet kept their distance because they were afraid was hilarious. But it wasn't fucking hilarious. One minute, Camille was with me, the next, I was getting a text from her, saying she called Toby and she was going into the hospital.I hoped to death that she wasn't going after Victoria. I had seen the crazy witch smiling behind the paparazzi and then going off into the hospital. It was one of her weapons. The press.Giving Camille one last squeeze, I pulled away and turned to Nolan. "Caldwell would k
Camille's POVI stared at the device in my hand. It was one of the old phones I had used years ago and apparently, it still worked quite well.I curled my lips in disgust, remembering what had happened to my phone.Alan Johnson was lying about being sick. The doctors were in on the trick as well. It just made me wonder who else was involved in the whole scheme.Who else, aside Victoria. It was barely noon. I was curled up on my bed, waiting for Gavriel’s text. I wasn’t exactly happy that he had sent me off, but I figured he wanted some alone time with Nolan. That only made it harder to bear. I had to tell him about Nolan being all creepy.Gav had been surprised to see him. That meant Nolan had somehow walked into the hospital without his father noticing. He might have arrive
