NORTHERN PACK.
ALPHA LORENZO'S POV
I was so engrossed in my work that I had lost track of time.
Being an Alpha of two packs, was a very hectic job, but because it was my responsibilities, I had to shoulder them.
I took a sip from the coffee beside me to keep my eyes open and functioning.
Due to hectic schedules, I haven't had a good rest in the past few weeks, and it has taken a toll on my mental health.
A knock on the door, jotted me from my thoughts, and I spoke up. “ Come in.”
My sinuous voice echoed out.
The door pushed open and my Beta, Leo, walked in holding a letter in his hand.
“ For you, Alpha.” He hung his head low as he gave the letter to me.
He knew better than to look me directly in the eyes.
For some reason, everyone feared me because of my strong face, cold expression, and eyes like that of the devil's incarnate.
Well, I wasn't the devil incarnate to be exact, I was his son.
The son of the Devil, and as such, that makes me a devil also.
A devil with no heart.
“ From who?” I cocked my brows.
“ From Gamma Rover.” He replied, and a knowing smirk graced my lips.
“ What is that little man up to?” I chuckled darkly, staring at the letter in my hand.
It's been four days since he sent the first letter introducing a marriage proposal.
I could see through people within minutes, but it took me less than a second to see through Gamma Rover's intentions.
He was greedy for power, more influence.
He wants to gain more power from my pack, using the excuse of marriage.
I wasn't interested, so I rejected the offer the same day it arrived, but I guess he was one hell of a persistent man.
He didn't give up, and was quick to send another one already.
I had a bored expression on, as I grazed through the envelope containing the letter.
“ Let's see what he has here.” I said and took the letter from the envelope, going through it.
With every sentence I read, my jaw tightened and my blue eyes were now blood red.
This man was playing with the devil, and the devil isn't as lenient as he thinks.
My fists folded tightly, almost drawing out blood and my knuckles turned white.
Leo, who noticed the dark aura emitting from me, raised his head to look at me, wondering what was in the letter that made me so angry.
“ Are you okay, Alpha?” He asked, worry etched on his face.
I closed my eyes to calm myself down.
Few minutes later, a sinister smirk appeared on my face as I brewed a plan in my head.
I knew just the perfect way to deal with a corny man like Gamma Rover.
“ Accept the marriage.” I said, causing Leo's brows to furrow.
He was obviously confused.
“ Tell Gamma Rover that I have accepted the marriage proposal.”
I hate repeating myself, but I had to, which irritated me to the core.
“ Yes…yes, Alpha.” He stuttered and glanced at me once again.
“ What are you waiting for?” I glared dangerously.
“ Nothing.” He shook his head and scurried out of my office like a scared cat.
Even despite the situation, I was calm to the core.
I leaned back on my chair, thinking hard on how to shred Gamma Rover and his family into pieces for messing with me.
“ I guess he doesn't know who he is up against.’ I smirked.
………..
LORETTA'S POV
Like Rosé said, she and her mother took turns in beating me, and I almost saw the gate of Hades in front of me.
My face was swollen and so was every part of my body.
I was almost unrecognisable.
If not for my father's intervention, I would be dead because of the beating I had received.
“ Loretta,” he called once he called for a family meeting and I was also invited.
It was a shock to me, because no one regarded me as family, and the fact that he asked me to join, meant that he was up to no good.
I didn't have a good feeling about the meeting.
“ Yes, father.” I replied, folding my fists beside me.
“ Alpha Lorenzo has accepted the marriage proposal. You will be getting married to him in two days.” He said, and my eyes flew towards him.
It felt as if time stopped for me to process all he had just said.
Me? Get married to Alpha Lorenzo?
This was probably the most ridiculous joke I have heard in centuries.
I just hope he was joking about it.
“ Father, “ I chuckled dryly. “ You must be kidding, aren't you?”
His facial expression remained stony and my heart raced at the fact that it wasn't a joke.
I can't possibly get married to a beast, even I won't pray for my enemies to get married to him.
Stories of him and how he ruled his two packs, have become an anthem here in my pack.
Most girls were dying to get married to him, but I wasn't that desperate to get married, not when I hadn't seen my mate.
“ Father, what if my mate comes?” I asked, my voice quivering.
“ That is none of my business. Get your things together, someone would be sent to get you in two days.”
He declared and stood up like he wasn't the same person who just dropped a bombshell few minutes ago.
“ Father—”
I was cut off, even before I could start.
“ Enough, Loretta! You will do as I say, no more pity-petty talks!” He shunned me, and disappeared from my sight.
Tears welled up in my eyes, but for some reason, I couldn't bring myself to cry.
I could see Rosé humming in joy from the corner of my eyes.
She was the happiest.
She stood up and walked towards me with a smirk on her lips.
“ I can't wait for you to get married to the beast, so he can eat you alive. You're an eyesore. Bye stepsister.”
She laughed devilishly as she walked out of the sitting room.
“ I can finally have my space in my husband's house. Like Rosé said, you're an eyesore.” Rita, my stepmother, glared at me before walking away.
I folded my fist tightly, until my knuckles turned white.
The fact that I was always helpless in every situation I found myself, angered me even more.
Just like that, I'm being married off, not to a normal he-wolf, but the cold beast of Northern Pack.
A snort escaped my nostrils, and I couldn't help but cry.
I stood up and dragged my feet out of the house to my grandma's house, as it was the only place I found peace and solace.
Upon getting there, I called for my grandma, but she was nowhere to be found.
My heart skipped a beat.
I rushed into her house and dashed into her room, only to see her lying lifelessly on the ground, her eyes white and her body turning cold.
“ Grandma!” I screamed, my eyes widened in horror.
……….
“ Miss Loretta. Your grandma's brain tumour has gotten to the last stage and we have to do the surgery, if you want her to live.”
The doctor said to me, as more tears left my eyes.
“ So Doctor, “ I swallowed. “ How much is the surgery?”
“ $10,000.” He said and my eyes widened like the size of an orange.
Where in the moon goddess name was I going to get $10,000 from?
“ You have just a day, if not, she would be dead before you know it.”
The doctor gave me a pat on my shoulder before walking away.
As he left, I couldn't feel my legs anymore, and before I knew it, I fell heavily on my butt as my waist couldn't support my weight anymore.
“ What do I do, Mum?” I muttered, tears streaming down my eyes.
LORETTA'S POV.No one was ready to lend me some money for my grandmother's treatment, no matter how hard I begged. Desperately. Those who offered their help, wanted something in return, and that, I couldn't give.I couldn't trade my pride as a woman because of money, so I declined their offer, causing them to sneer at me. Four hours had gone by, yet I couldn't get even three thousand dollars.Tears welled up in the corner of my eyes once again. My mind suddenly wandered to my father, maybe, just maybe, he would help if I begged him.“ I really hope he helps with the bills.” I muttered and dragged my feet down the lonely street. The cloud was covered with rain and the sky rumbled with thunderstorms, but my mind was too cloudy to even notice that it was about to pour.I haven't even gotten close to the house, when the rain began to pour heavily, drenching me from the top of my head to the sole of my feet. The rain pouring down on me was nothing compared to the pain, the anguish and hea
LORETTA'S POV.As the car drove out of the house, my mind was in turmoil and my heart was in pain.I could still see the happiness in Rose's eyes and the smirk that graced my stepmother's lips, as she watched the car leave.I took one last glance at my father, whose expression was unreadable.Deep inside of me, I wished he could spare me a glance, even if it was for a second. He should reassure me with his eyes that I will be okay, but he never looked at me until the car disappeared into the morning fog.A sigh escaped my lips, and tears threatened to leave my eyes.I was leaving a pack where all good and bad memories were created.Though, the bad memories superseded the good ones, yet I didn't feel like leaving.I was tired of being treated unfairly, yet, I still didn't want to leave my father and my grandmother behind. My father might have not shown any reaction, but I knew deep down that he cared for me, but was blinded by the death of my mother, which was literally because of me.
ALPHA LORENZO'S POVThe thought of being married to an omega, like Loretta irks the fuck out of me.I hate this marriage with every blood running through my veins. If not for the fact that Gamma Rover had something against me, I swear on my late parent's grave, I would have rid his entire family from existence. But I had to keep cool. Until I work out a plan and catch him off guard.I just can't wait for the fun to begin.“ Alpha,” A knock was placed on the door, causing a hiss to escape my lips.Oh, how much I hated to be interrupted during my time alone.“ What do you want, Leo?” I asked, my voice evidence of how annoyed I was.“ I'm sorry to interrupt, but she refused to stay in the room you gave her.” Leo said, his head hung low.My brows creased, as a devilish smirk tugged at the corners of my lips.Interesting, isn't she?“ And why is that?”“ She said she wanted a room in separate chambers.” Leo replied. “ She doesn't want to stay in the same chambers as you.”“ If she doesn't
LORETTA'S POV I didn't want anything to do with Alpha Lorenzo, infact, I wanted to stay clear off his path, but he wouldn't let me. He didn't. When I was told that i will be staying in different room, i exhaled in relief, but that was short-lived when I was informed again that my room would be in the same chambers as his. Infact, the rooms were opposite each other. I couldn't accept that. I won't. This marriage wasn't what I wanted, but since the life of my grandmother was in line, I had to give up my happiness. “ What?” My eyes widened. “ I don't want to stay in the same chambers as Alpha Lorenzo.” I could see the faces of the maids turned pale at my words. “ Mis…Miss.. You can't go against the Alpha.” One of them stuttered, but my eyes remained unwavering. “ I would rather stay somewhere else.” I am also afraid of him. Hell, who wouldn't be afraid of a devil? But, I had to stay clear off his path if I wanted to survive in this pack for a year, as our contract st
Alpha Lorenzo's PovI was in a bad mood as I sat in my study room, uneasy. The soft morning light came in unfiltered through the open windows and raised blinds. It cast a warm glow over the room that somehow did nothing to calm me like it should have. There was always something to make my day all wrong before I had even barely started my day. Today it was the matter of rogues sighted in my pack's territory. Those monstrosity could never live peacefully in the entire pack. A knock on the door jolted me out of my diary dream and lucid thoughts. I remembered saying to all of my mens about thirty minutes ago that I wanted to be alone. And that loud and persistent knocking was pissing me to the sky and back to earth. I clenched my jaw in fury as I pondered over which one person would dare to disturb me in my do not disturb hour. It was no other than that. "Well will you stop knocking on the door like a stupid motor engine and come inside!" I barked the command with irritation. The door
Alpha Lorenzo's Pov Leo stared at me with a confused look on his face the moment that I became completely relaxed in my seat. He stood, waiting my orders. I took a light breath before I said what was on my mind."I want about fifty men ready for a search party," I delivered with cold precision. "I want them to search every inch and centimetre of this pack’s territory, and beyond if it is necessary. They should look in every nook and cranny, every single corner and leave no stone unturned with no path unchecked," I ordered. He nodded at my words. "I will make sure to do that now Alpha Lorenzo," he replied to me while he was already turning to leave."And, Leo," I added, stopping him in his tracks. He turned back to me. "I want them to bring her back here, to me, completely unharmed. I want her alive and breathing. I will need her to understand the consequences of ever trying to cross me. It would be a lesson to her for now and the future," I ended my talk on a happy note."Yes Alpha
Alpha Lorenzo's Pov This Marriage, it would be torture, premium torture to her. It would be the price that she would have to pay for all of this. She could not have gone very far and I was sure that my men would have her back to my palace safe and sound, soon.It was only a matter of time."I understand you Alpha Lorenzo. I will get to it now," Leo said to me with a bow and turned to go. He suddenly stopped, hesitating in the doorway as if he was debating about something. I raised an eyebrow at him, waiting for him to speak what was on his mind though I knew it would definitely be something really stupid."Alpha Lorenzo?" he said to me rather cautiously. "If I may ask you, what if she does not want to return? Would it not be easier to just let her go?""Let her go? Leo? Do you really hear yourself right now?" I asked him as anger simmered in my veins and my other blood vessels. "I should let her go you say?" I repeated in a quite menacing whisper. He shivered visibly at the devilish
Loretta's PovHis name.Alpha Lorenzo. The sound of his name in my head filled me with fear and anxiety. I was in dread at the image of him rose inside of my mind. I loathed the condescending way in which he always looked at me and that his cold and relentless stare. His words were always foul and cruel. How had my father expected me to live with such a man, to be married to him. I did not want to live like that, with a man who saw me as an unwanted pest. I did not want to be bound to a man who saw me as nothing but an object to control.Even thinking his name filled me with a new surge of adrenaline. His cold, relentless stare, his cruel words. I didn’t want to live like this, bound to someone who saw me as nothing more than an object to control. And so I had run. That was all that I remembered doing after I had scaled my bedroom window with precision and care. I was a master of escape. My mind replayed the exact moment that I had slipped out of the bedroom that they had assigned to
Loretta's POVTrying to be intimidating as ever, I crossed my hands on my chest which was puffed out. “Loretta, what have gotten over you?" He growled, matching my intimidating pose but I wasn't going to cower, not anymore. The nightmare I had further prompted me to take action against my father. It was crystal clear that they orchestrated Grandma’s death which was unpardonable on my end.On the other hand, I wanted to form an alliance with Lorenzo but he was proving stubborn. All this was merely an act to break through his wall of defense and then with his help, I will make father pay for what he had done. I don't care what business he has with father, they are going to handle that themselves. “Nullify the contract already." I repeated my earlier words, storming right back into the chambers. “This is just our fourth month of being together, we have eight more months to scale through and then we go our own way." “Going our separate ways now wouldn't make a huge difference… oh,
Lorenzo's POVAfter leaving Loretta's side, I made my way towards my study to get some work done as I had been slacking off recently. Several times, I found myself drifting off for a moment all because of Loretta. The scars and the sad drawing was a clear indication of all the hard times she had gone through in the hands of her family and this made me pity her even more. My instincts which were never wrong had been bugging me ever since I saw her lying on the cattle dung. “Loretta isn't his precious daughter, why did he decide to marry her off to me?" I pondered, my chin resting on my hand. Did he do this to punish her? — I thought, creating a scenario in my head. “What if we team up and punish him instead." I muttered only to shake the thought off. Trusting people was hard. Everyone around me were tagged enemies and I must confess it had been of immense help to me. Loretta must have connived with her family to con me by making herself pitiful. Too bad, they had the wrong ta
Loretta's POV“What do you think you’re doing?” I snapped, grabbing Lorenzo’s hand midair.A moment ago, I felt a strange sensation on my thigh—like someone was trying to remove my clothes. At first, I thought I was dreaming but when I caught a glimpse of Alpha Lorenzo from the corner of my eye, I knew at once that this was real.“Those scars… what are they?” he asked, completely ignoring my question.Pushing him away, I scrambled to my feet, my face flushed with embarrassment as I recalled the first time I appeared completely naked in front of him Without another word, I turned to leave, but he blocked my path.“I’m speaking to you.” His voice was low but it was accompanied with a dangerous growl that sent chills racing down my spine.I shut my eyes tightly, my nails digging into my palms as my heart pounded against my ribs, each beat syncing with my ragged breaths. The scars he saw were a cruel reminder of my past—the suffering inflicted on me by my own family. I didn’t want to b
Author's POV Since Gamma Williams returned, he hasn't been himself. It was either he was pacing about or muttering incoherent words to himself or in extreme cases he completely zoned out. Rose and Rita whom had been watching him closely was getting terrified with his actions but none of them approached him yet. When it seemed it was going to continue this way if they didn't find out what was troubling him, Rita and her daughter approached him. “It's been over three hours since you returned." She began. “You didn't tell us the outcome of the meeting but you keep pacing about, something is wrong, right?"“Loretta." He snarled and at once, mother and daughter exchanged glances with a look of confusion clouding their faces. “What about her?" It was Rose who spoke this time around. “She refused to be a spy and find more information about Alpha Lorenzo which would be enough to pull him down in one attempt." He said through his teeth, clenching his fists by his side. “Can you imagine
Loretta's POV The looks I was getting from Maya made me uncomfortable. Several times, I tried to draw her attention to it and ask the reason why she acted that way but I couldn't voice out my thoughts. When it seemed it was going to continue this way, I cleared my throat and at once we locked gazes which she was quick to break out from. “Is there a problem?" I mouthed, propping myself on the pillow. “Nothing." She shook her head sideways but I wasn't done yet. She kept giving me strange looks only to claim there was nothing wrong. This was a blatant lie which I wasn't going to fall for.“You keep staring at me, there must be something you want to voice out." I pressed on. Taking a deep breath, she combed through her hair with her fingers before returning her gaze to me. “I was just wondering what made you special." She mouthed, igniting my curiosity. Leaning forward, I grasped the edge of the bed, “What are you talking about?" “Alpha Lorenzo would have watched the fire consu
Lorenzo's POV After Loretta took her leave, I wanted to run after her to stop her but my pride wouldn't let me move my feet. She had struck a chord in me, this she was fully aware of. Not going to lie, I was mesmerized by her boldness. “She clearly stated that she wouldn't be a coward forever.” I muttered, sending my teeth into my lips. “Let's see if that will happen.” I huffed, rolling my eyes to the back of my head as I grasped the document I was holding even more tightly. In anger, I released my grip and in a few minutes, I had torn the document into minute pieces and tossed them into the air. Yet to be relieved from the anger which was running through my veins, I began to pace from one end to the other end, trying to get a grasp of my emotion. “Loretta is not her father's accomplice, I’m sure of that.” I muttered, clenching and unclenching my fists in rhythm. With the way she had reacted earlier, it was crystal clear that she wasn't on the same page with her father but s

Loretta's POV “Calm down, it's me.” Thanks to Alpha Lorenzo's voice, I was already at the verge of passing out. Staring at my arm which he grasped tightly, he quickly pulled away and then started to dart his eyes around like a child caught in an unholy act. “What are you doing here?” I asked, crossing my hands on my chest. “I'm the one who's supposed to be asking that.” He huffed only to start walking off the next second. Just when he was about to disappear from the hallway, with a loud voice, I yelled, “Are you leaving just like that?” “What about the questions you want to ask? I bet you're no longer curious like I thought.” I shrugged as a knowing smile spread across my lips. If Alpha Lorenzo was here, it could mean only one thing and that is, he was eavesdropping on my conversation with my father. “You shouldn't leave without satisfying your curiosity.” I added when he still wouldn't spare me a glance. Just when I thought he was going to ignore me, he turned around and wit
Lorenzo's POVKicking the door open, I expected to see her cuddled in a corner but instead, there was no one in the room. “She must be in her so-called haven.” I gritted my teeth, making my way towards the end of the building. On arrival, I kicked the door open and just like the first time, she was nowhere to be found. Where could she be? — I pondered, darting my eyes around as I tugged my hair in frustration. Suddenly, it clicked but before I could make a u-turn, I halted, shaking my head sideways as I firmly believed she wouldn't go against my words. But where could she be at this point in time? After weighing the options for a while, I decided to check the daycare just in case she disobeyed but I doubt she would. It was the noise of children that greeted me on arrival and at once, I became uncomfortable. From a tender age, I detest children. Up until now, the fact that some people were obsessed with children baffles me, making me wonder what was special about them. This
